True story! The 60's and 70's was the best music ever! Everyone knew all the members of each band rather than just the lead singer. They could all play their instruments wickedly! The music back then was such a high caliber that you had to take on the likes of Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, The Stones, The Beetles, Pink Floyd, The Doors, Jimi Hendricks, Elton John, Black Sabbath, Bob Marley, etc... etc... just to name a few to get to be #1 on the charts! How hard would that be? Playing as a kid before screen time existed was awesome too! Building huts playing in the street and in the bush, no one wanted to go home! Good times! :-)

You may be old now, but be glad you had that chance to connect with the people of your generation and share that happiness, love and music with each other. It's much harder growing up when everyone's a stranger.
When Canned Heat started to play, a nude dude started dancing through the crowd. He was terribly sun burned and high as a kite. I will always remember that.
j'adore j'adore j'adore... ce retour dans cette époque , est très émouvant pour moi... "nous étions sur une autre planète." .. et ça fait du bien d'y retourner.... merci a ma fille Carole de me replonger dedans....
It’s 2019, music is everywhere these days with its genres but to come back to the classics and actually soothe your ears and soul is a blissful feeling of history. I remember hearing this many years ago and I still whistle this flute chime till this day.
Do you think the world was just peaches and cream in 1969? Things are a lot better now in a lot of ways. And there are still many people even now who live like the people in this movie did... just peaceful, easy-going people who aren't out to hurt anyone but have a good time. The MUSIC.... well, the MUSIC has certainly gone downhill since then, I won't lie lol
+C Louise Always ready for a road trip! Came here looking for a musical one to take me away from all this snow and cold, even if only for a few minutes.
+Fattboy26 Contrary to popular belief, we were actually quite clean. We would get dirty, sure. But always clean up afterwards and head home. It was a lot of fun and no real harm was done. Unfortunately, our beliefs contradicted what governments want, so it didn't last long.
Great Tune... Great Memories... First saw Canned Heat at Woodstock 1969. That was an education. 4 days of good times and crazy memories. Pre Concert Janis J sang and chat with a group... maybe 40 fans for about 2 hours. Thanks Janis! Too Cool!
It’s pretty amazing to see all the story’s from the past generation of amazingly talented artists and the fans that followed I really missed a great time in history I’m 16 for reference and I won’t listen to the music that my generation listens to I think it’s garbage so I shall do my part and continue rocking these classic tunes that clearly have stood the test of time and change

There is nothing like the 70's growing up back then was Awesome, my childhood was so free and lots of fun at the park and swimming at the Park pool. I was born in 1970 and boy do I miss it. 🌞🚲🏖🏕🏊♀️💃✌💖
This movie was so damn fantastic! I was born in '70 and in my childhood, this was one of those yearly 'event' tv things like the Wizard of Oz of Charlie Brown's Christmas. I first saw it when i was about 11. It changed everything. This here montage remains the closest ive ever seen to a true representation of paradise
I was only 2 in 1967. But still lucky I grew up listening to this awesome music. Even did pilgrimages to Bethel New York six times to see the Woodstock site. First year I went I got invited inside Max Yagers. Farm house by the present owner. Magical time that was back then. Glad the history and memory is still alive today.
Man it would have been so cool to have lived during the 60's and the Woodstock era..so much really cool music and people..peace and love man..pity there wasn't the same kind of attitudes today..the world would be a much better place
I was born in the wrong generation! But I'm the new hope for continued generations of trippy hippies! Most under rated band! Still showing them love in 2020! ✌☮☯️🌼🌻
The "back to the earth" hippie movement had it right in the first place. We need a resurgence of the spirit of those times. In fact, I would say it might be our only real hope. Carry on young lady!
@@samjohnson3680 It will never come back. By now we're just a bunch of machines, one with our smartphones. Wish we could travel time to visit those amazing times. Technology doomed humanity. Made us stupid.
God how I miss the old days. While I was a 6 years old when this was filmed, I still vividly recall when our country was like this including clothing a much greater sense of community and friendliness. I don't even recognize my own country anymore.
I was seven and remember everyone talking about “Woodstock” but had no idea what it was. That song must have been a major hit because it played at least ten times a day!😀
after long hair times came long families with long responsabilities and long bank debts ,and some of us comming from that decade ( end 60s and most part of the 70s) started working for long corporations so we could live in this complex society and now those times seem to me so long ago...I still listen to those long legendary rock bands almost everyday Although I´m happy and not complaining...I truly miss the long hair and wild times, The seed of those times changed things and changed me for ever..
you sir are correct................ for me, then spending years in the military complex my look on the world today........ fucking awesome I grew up a surfer from so. cailf cheers
I'm not a flute person but the guy who plays the flute in this song is awesome as is the song itself. Oh, how I wish I had a Doobie right now while I'm listening to this song. ❤️
Our teachers for sure! I was a punk and before that a metal head, but wow! I love my hippie teachers! I feel lucky to be a child in the 60's! I feel lucky to have learned from them
I was 15 years old back then and I kept hearing on the radio (KSHE-95 St.Louis) all about what was going to be going on at Woodstock and what bands were coming to play, man I wanted to go so bad but I didn’t have much money and no car or drivers license, and I new my parents wouldn’t let me go but I was thinking of going anyway and hitchhike but I didn’t want to worry my parents. Damn I sure wish I would have gone there. And of course I bought the double album as soon as it came out and would play it over & over while studying the pictures on the album cover and I was really excited when the documentary movie came out. It truly was the event of all events! 🍺✌️😎💭🎸 Peace ✌️
Love my generation, ♥ when music was made by musician not computer .Amazing that there was not crime committed at the 3 days Woodstock, it was all peace joy and love.
Yeah, people were predicting all these dire things were going to happen and I don't think there was even a single fight. Even the cops, when they realized there wasn't going to be a problem, kinda laid back and enjoyed themselves too. So much for judging by appearances...
Oh shit we live in a society which is way better than it was 40 years ago, less tension, less war, more people able to create music. But shit being stoned and not worrying for the future was the best ever! Get out of your damn midlife crisis, it wasn't better in the old days, atleast not in the western world. Stop crying about the fact that modern music is made by computers, because you know damn well there are still plenty of great groups and artists out there that don't use computers, auto-tune, songwriters. It was better for you in the old days, not for the world and even there I could be wrong, you could have a way better life right now than then...
This is about nature-loving people with long hair and beards wearing festive garb made of natural fibers while listening and dancing to organic music and grooving on the peaceful vibe. I miss that.
M O N U M E N T A L ! Gigantesque, colossal, fabuleux ! Punaise, il me reste encore de l'envie pour faire vibrer mes oreilles. Mon dieu que le temps a passé vite.
I’m 13 and I wish I could go back in time, to playing skate 3 and cod with my big brother and being able to enjoy the lifestyle. I also miss the times where me and my family drove up the country listening to 60s and 70s classics to settle the mood. I remember the day I moved to Africa and ever since then I’ve been loving it here. I have lived in Africa for most of my life and it’s amazing. I may be young but I knew how to have fun even in the past, and I sure do have a good taste in music😀
What a really sweet song by CH.. such a sound so evocative of that whole Woodstock (hip / hippy) era. So glad to have experienced same AND to be able to re-visit thanks to YT!!
Pode pois! :) Mas actualmente o mesmo espírito do Woodstock provavelmente não o encontrarás nos woodstocks que fazem recentactualmente. Se gostares de música electrónica com grandes BPM's festas de Trance podem ser perfeitas para ti.
People were hating so much on skate 3 but for me, something that gives you this much nostalgia, doesn’t deserve the hate! Real one knows the feeling of finding the super ultra mega park for the first time! One of the best feelings ever!
Yes, so right. My go-to song for cruising around my beautiful country New Zealand in a small campervan. Have loved this song all my adult life, and it always lifts my spirit and soul.
I was a little too young for woodstock but learned about it after the fact. I have always had an appreciation for this music and remember when I felt teh music. I always liked the video of the young lady breaking out in a dance by herself at 1:15 I think this demonstrates the music and the festival at its best
This is certainly a great song because the music of the 60's certainly had a message. Going to where the water tastes like wine. If such a place exists...Then point the way.
We did all we could back then. Passing it down to you, lucky person who has even more power and strength to do what you can, so you can in the future relax to hear your own efforts criticized by your grandchildren. Best of luck to you, new generation!

I love this intro to the film. I saw this at a midnight late show in 1978. Yes, so many thoughts and emotions attached to this song. The silhouettes dancing, the nun's peace sign/smile/freeze frame, no one hung up about how many this or thats in attendance...I'd love a time machine.

Really miss the greatest period in history to be young. We didn't know what we had . Thought the magic of 66 through 72 would last forever. It didn't and generations since have not come close in any aspect.
Many young people today have the same conscience and desire to tap into the hippie way, it's just tough trying to attain these ideals in this modern era. Rapid commercialization and cynicism has seeped into everything and sucked the life out of a lot of sacred things. Too many restrictions/rules to the point where a festival like this - especially on this size - would be unfeasible. These forces are so pervasive, it's just harder than ever to find new ways of living away from the mainstream. Back then things were more straightforward idealogically and there was a huge shift in thinking which was new and had momentum, but now it's complicated. It's less clear what freedom even means, especially now the last hope for freedom (the internet) is being sabotaged by corporations/politicians. And now we have become so reliant the damn technology, it starts to feel like a trap which distracts more than anything else.
@@HiddenFormula We had to just divorce ourselves from society and create something totally new. That way you didn't have hang-ups and baggage into the new society. We were so driven by peace and freedom and I don't see that important to young people over last two generations. Then you end up with a violent Woodstock 25 in 94 and both Portland and Seattle's so called 2020 Summer of Love that ended up in shootings at both. Maybe someday but the young of today couldn't even envision what it could be.

That is really great to read John Schwab, never forget to wave your hippy flag please.
I can hardly imagine what this video means to someone who grew up during these times. I'm 19 and it brings a tear to my eye.
I lived it!!
@@ValBurgess-th5dkwhat a time to be alive, good ol loving and living. Technology really changed our species as a whole.
It was a better time; full of possibilities. But emphasis on material things did us in.
You may be old now, but be glad you had that chance to connect with the people of your generation and share that happiness, love and music with each other. It's much harder growing up when everyone's a stranger.
I SO agree! I was in my 50's by the time I finally grasped we weren't going to change the world.

I love Canned Heat...the first time I saw them was 1968. Saw them 2 more times before Bear passed away. Love his voice.
Yeah, Bear always sounds like that favorite uncle, our favorite cousin. He just lit up a room
Don't think he is singing .....
When Canned Heat started to play, a nude dude started dancing through the crowd. He was terribly sun burned and high as a kite. I will always remember that.
LOL Wonder if he still remembers it!

It’s 2019, music is everywhere these days with its genres but to come back to the classics and actually soothe your ears and soul is a blissful feeling of history.

Great Tune... Great Memories... First saw Canned Heat at Woodstock 1969. That was an education. 4 days of good times and crazy memories. Pre Concert Janis J sang and chat with a group... maybe 40 fans for about 2 hours. Thanks Janis! Too Cool!

Glad the history and memory is still alive today.
i love this song. there will never be another woodstock. it paved the way for future outdoor concerts
My late best friend and I saw these fine fellers once or twice. Al, sadly had passed, but we still had Bob, and he could boogie!

I was seven and remember everyone talking about “Woodstock” but had no idea what it was. That song must have been a major hit because it played at least ten times a day!😀
On a hot summer day in the early 70's, this song came on the AM radio in the kitchen and my pop turned it up.
after long hair times came long families with long responsabilities and long bank debts ,and some of us comming from that decade ( end 60s and most part of the 70s) started working for long corporations so we could live in this complex society and now those times seem to me so long ago...I still listen to those long legendary rock bands almost everyday Although I´m happy and not complaining...I truly miss the long hair and wild times, The seed of those times changed things and changed me for ever..

Less tension, less war?? Really? That aint my reality Bro lol
Noah, careful with those edges, man. Might cut yourself on them...

Really miss the greatest period in history to be young. We didn't know what we had . Thought the magic of 66 through 72 would last forever. It didn't and generations since have not come close in any aspect.
I totally agree. What they call music today is not even understandable. I'll keep playing my oldies.
Actually biggest "not knowing" -period of hope was and will forever be 1961-63.
90's were good for rock music. But agree this period can't be duplicated anymore in its greatness
Nothing wrong with still being a flower child.
