    I've heard that black South Africans are starting to get into rugby and there's a Zulu rugby team who also do a war dance. Would be interesting to put them into the mix!

    • @polishmybolo9769
      @polishmybolo9769 9 лет назад +5

      The black Africans also call their "war dance" a haka Lol It's pretty much a rip off of these Pacific islands war dances

      +Polish Mybolo
      I'm a bit surprised by that as the Zulus are very famous for their warrior tradition and they have their own war dances! I wouldn't have thought they'd need to borrow from the Pacific Islanders.

    For all the haters this is Indigenous people playing a sport together to support each other in solidarity and for the love of the sport. Each culture portrayed a bit of tradition but also some entertainment. So haters, its not a reflection of animosity or everyday cultural norms, its a show that has roots in deeper culture. But that deeper culture is not put on show for entertainment its special and reflects identity of Indigenous people in Australia and NZ. In solidarity to our Maori bruthas and sistas and all those that support Indigenous sport. For the haters that talk shit, wipe your mouth and go get mouth wash cos your breath stinks!

    I've never seen so much racism in the comments section. It blows my mind to think think that a somewhat intelligent race can still be filled with so much hate towards one another. We are all human.

    • @aserta
      @aserta 9 лет назад +7

      Nolo245 Yeah. It's sickening. You'd think that we'd learn as a species from the past. Racism didn't bring anything good to anyone. Just misery and fear. On the other side of the spectrum, look how many good things we've accomplished working together a humans undivided by race.
      I bet any sum of money that if you'd take someone from 50 60 years ago and bring them today, their mind would not be able to cope with how much we've evolved in such a short span of time.
      Conversely, bring any man from our times back then, and you'd have a hard time understanding how much hate was thrown around for nothing but greed and petty things.
      Maybe in a few more decades, our children will learn better than to heed to the old people still lighting up fires here and there. Sigh.

    • @mv3x1
      @mv3x1 9 лет назад +2

      +Nolo245 because what there doing is activating everyones racism, two different races looking and acting like they want to kill each other like we are still living in caves

      'We are all human' well isn't that ironic

    • @TheCaliforniaboy1
      @TheCaliforniaboy1 6 лет назад +4

      I think it's more about the culture history of having a war cry and applying to the sport. It opens up conversation about each culture and traditions. In the past, yes it meant war but in this situation, it's more for the competitive sport than racism. There's no hate here just pride, love, and competition. Football players usually all hang out together at a point.

    I always loved the Haka and I have no problem with Aboriginal Australian culture either. There's a lot of stupid comments being made about which culture is better when both are equally important to people of either respective heritage. Also just because some white people are racist dickheads doesn't mean that there aren't others with black friends and family. Native peoples of Oz and NZ experience daily racism just as indigenous folk do everywhere else (including USA). But there are also many non-indigenous people who value them and will join them in their fight against this racism.

    I think Australia could learn a lot from our Kiwi neighbours about how to embrace local indigenous culture and assimilate it into Anglo culture the same way we have forced Anglo assimilation onto the Indigenous. I'm sure NZ has its haters and people who are steadfast to Anglo traditions and maintain their prejudice, but NZ has done a far better job of embracing Maori and Polynesian ideals than Australia has, who keep treating indigenous culture as unimportant, forgettable and maintain an unhealthy apathy and dislike of local aboriginals thanks to hard-held sterotypes bought on from colonial ideals and bias.

    American sports are so weak compared to the rest of the world. And this is coming from an American! I wish us Americans had something as intimidating as this... Sure, it's quaint and Americans will probably think it's silly, but to be in the arena/stadium when a Haka or Aboriginal War Cry is going on would just pump you up. Very badass lol

    • @insaintbear5329
      @insaintbear5329 9 лет назад +1

      SFxTAGG3 You're suggesting that American sports team should have some Apache or Cherokee war dance going on before any games?

    • @SFxTAGG3
      @SFxTAGG3 9 лет назад +21

      Insaint Bear Yes. I know the Liberal media would demonize something like that, and I know that people in the USA are way too divided to do that, but I think it would be awesome. When I see New Zealanders of all different races performing a Haka, I get the sense that they have a much greater sense of unity than Americans do. If an American sports team tried to do a Native American war dance, there'd be cries of racism all over the news.

      Thomas Brian wth are you talking about mate.... Maori are still fighting them till this day..... we never sold our land we both signed a treaty in which the Britz lied..... reason they wanted a treaty is because they couldn't defeat us in battle with their muskets... speaking of flag we have our own as well that represents our culture. We just don't have one flag all tribes have their own flag if not two or more.... Not bad for a small population of Maori under half million people who stood their ground compare to other countries who are bigger.... sorry mate we ain't asian we brown and black... you guys should be proud Maori paved the way for other Indigenous cultures like yours to have a traditional dance in sports.....

Haka is NOT a Dance!!! Its a spiritual chant, we are speaking and calling to give strength... How ever we do have Haka's that challenge... Maoris are and nor will they EVER be the 'bottom feeders' We are a strong race, we have a King and we have a treaty that has lasted out the centurys, we were NEVER slaved and our culture holds true and strong throughout NZ and the world, while being a multicultural country. Maori people can hold themselves individually strong in ANY environment alone, we make our ancestors proud... Our ancestors fought to death for what they believe in and because of them we are STILL the RESPECTED people and caretakers of the land NEW ZEALAND... Aboriginals should never have to poke spares at the Maori's they need to poke them at the Australian government!! LMFAO!! One thing ALL Nationalities know in Australia and New Zealand, MAORI's WILL Fight for what they believe in to DEATH!!

      @01Breakfan 9 лет назад +30

      I don't think you understand, what Aboriginal people do traditionally to an opposing side in conflict is mock them and take the piss out of people. That was an attempt to match Maori haka as a warrior themed response in a respectful way. Otherwise as a traditional rebuttal Aboriginal people would have dressed like Maori and pranced around making a mockery of them. Now that would have been disrespectful. As an Indigenous person Aboriginal Murri. I am in solidarity with Maori as Indigenous brothers and sisters and so are the majority of Aboriginal people. So rethink that sista because it was not meant to be insulting and the very idea of Indigenous football is about solidarity.

    • @01Breakfan
      @01Breakfan 9 лет назад +24

      Oh one other thing sista which is a big white lie, Aboriginal people are also fighters and my ancestors died defending our land, we are still fighting, never ceded land, no treaty nothing. Australia has a secret history, more settlers/invaders died in the 200 plus years of colonisation in conflict with Aboriginal nations than in all wars Australia has fought. ( and that's from archival evidence for the haters that deny this) But that's a secret Australia won't recognise just like the Maori land wars in NZ. So no need for anger sista, we are allies in the struggle and non of them brothers on the field would have intended offence, if they had thought it would be taken offensively they would not have done it.
