I've heard that black South Africans are starting to get into rugby and there's a Zulu rugby team who also do a war dance. Would be interesting to put them into the mix!
+Polish Mybolo I'm a bit surprised by that as the Zulus are very famous for their warrior tradition and they have their own war dances! I wouldn't have thought they'd need to borrow from the Pacific Islanders.
For all the haters this is Indigenous people playing a sport together to support each other in solidarity and for the love of the sport. Each culture portrayed a bit of tradition but also some entertainment. So haters, its not a reflection of animosity or everyday cultural norms, its a show that has roots in deeper culture. But that deeper culture is not put on show for entertainment its special and reflects identity of Indigenous people in Australia and NZ. In solidarity to our Maori bruthas and sistas and all those that support Indigenous sport. For the haters that talk shit, wipe your mouth and go get mouth wash cos your breath stinks!
The peoples of Oceania have taken this Western sport and made it their own, integrated into the warrior ethos of their culture. Cultural appropriation, this is what it is for.
Bryon Bahr Ah rugby a sport with so much violence & blood in it makes American footballers (grid iron players as they're called in Australia & New Zealand). Wince & whimper in sympathy for the men playing. *Really* tight shorts, & if your playing against Australia or New Zealand a mandatory dance number. What's not to love. 😅
im Maori but i have huge respect for the Aboriginal people. im not too sure about these Maori clowns bashing the Aboriginals so just please excuse their uneducated comments. To the Aboriginals badmouthing Maori it was probably provoked so no hate here, if not then fairdinkum. Nothing but love here our other indigenous cuzzies
Gentlemen, I am from South Africa and seeing this made my spine tingle, being of Zulu descent I can say Big up to both sides for remembering who they are and their warrior roots! Maori or Aborigini, CLASSIC!!!!!
Makes me proud to be a Pacific Islander from Oceania. We are always proud of our cultures and always try to incorporate it into sports, church and anything really. Good to see New Zealand and Australia our two biggest nations showing respect to our indigenous culture, keep it up.
I really have to stop watching these at bedtime, I don’t understand a word, but the emotion is so strong that it gets me fired up,or bawling like a baby! I love learning about other cultures
I've never seen so much racism in the comments section. It blows my mind to think think that a somewhat intelligent race can still be filled with so much hate towards one another. We are all human.
Nolo245 Yeah. It's sickening. You'd think that we'd learn as a species from the past. Racism didn't bring anything good to anyone. Just misery and fear. On the other side of the spectrum, look how many good things we've accomplished working together a humans undivided by race. I bet any sum of money that if you'd take someone from 50 60 years ago and bring them today, their mind would not be able to cope with how much we've evolved in such a short span of time. Conversely, bring any man from our times back then, and you'd have a hard time understanding how much hate was thrown around for nothing but greed and petty things. Maybe in a few more decades, our children will learn better than to heed to the old people still lighting up fires here and there. Sigh.
+Nolo245 because what there doing is activating everyones racism, two different races looking and acting like they want to kill each other like we are still living in caves
I think it's more about the culture history of having a war cry and applying to the sport. It opens up conversation about each culture and traditions. In the past, yes it meant war but in this situation, it's more for the competitive sport than racism. There's no hate here just pride, love, and competition. Football players usually all hang out together at a point.
This is a very skilfully done piece of TV, Only four cameras, broadcasting live! If you were to remake "West Side Story" in an Australasian context this would be The Sharks v The Jets sequence.
Kiri MacDonald-Nepe Apatu Indigenous brothers and sisters. We respect your support and always got your backs too. Currently in Canada studying their indigenous people at the moment and loving it, so fascinating. It’s really only a relationship other black fullas can understand
I am less than a quarter indigenous (Jack Dempsey is my great great grandfather) so I don't count myself as indigenous. this does not mean I don't respect the aboriginal culture. In fact power to you all. I can't count the times I have had to put another gubba in their place because of their insolence.
I have never seen the aboriginal war cry before even though i have worked with them for many years as a Youth Worker,i am a Sixth Generation Australian from convict heritage and it sent chills down my spine how Proud i was of these young men.
I always loved the Haka and I have no problem with Aboriginal Australian culture either. There's a lot of stupid comments being made about which culture is better when both are equally important to people of either respective heritage. Also just because some white people are racist dickheads doesn't mean that there aren't others with black friends and family. Native peoples of Oz and NZ experience daily racism just as indigenous folk do everywhere else (including USA). But there are also many non-indigenous people who value them and will join them in their fight against this racism.
Shane Gooding..you're a wise man...free from discrimination and racial hatred...like you im also truly FREE!! any kind of hatred only eats away at that specific individual heart.. as humans we need to respect others cultures and traditions
I think Australia could learn a lot from our Kiwi neighbours about how to embrace local indigenous culture and assimilate it into Anglo culture the same way we have forced Anglo assimilation onto the Indigenous. I'm sure NZ has its haters and people who are steadfast to Anglo traditions and maintain their prejudice, but NZ has done a far better job of embracing Maori and Polynesian ideals than Australia has, who keep treating indigenous culture as unimportant, forgettable and maintain an unhealthy apathy and dislike of local aboriginals thanks to hard-held sterotypes bought on from colonial ideals and bias.
True story my bro. I'm from nz but lived in Sydney 11 years now. Now I realise how good of a job nz done. Like back Home we all know basic Maori from school and have a decent understanding of their culture. Here in Australia, ask anyone how do you say hi in any aboriginal dialect. . . They look all stunned qnd scratching their head like "ummm, fcuk knows?)

@Kapt'n Pee You just contradicted yourself. If there's so many different tribes, then the "new" customs you're seeing are just from a different tribe every year. But please, keep expressing your dislike for indigenous people.
Can you imagine either of these teams facing off with a United States bunch of millennials sport team from an uber liberal college? They'd run to their "safe" zone and call mommy then file a lawsuit for intimidation and mental stress. Imagine an NFL team adopting the Haka, there'd be cries of insensitivity by the usual suspects in our society.
+TJ Fiso The Haka is cool. It is admirable to have a tradition that brings a whole team together in a language that only they can understand. We are undergoing an underbelly of pussification in the US.
Mike Stempo I think you are overplaying how "pussified" the US is. I don't think you give millennials or "uber liberals" enough credit. "usual suspects in our society" meaning who exactly?
Its about time Australia aloud our native brothers ,,indigenous people of Australia to show there talent , and talent they got mean war dance, and there war paint makes them the true Australians
American sports are so weak compared to the rest of the world. And this is coming from an American! I wish us Americans had something as intimidating as this... Sure, it's quaint and Americans will probably think it's silly, but to be in the arena/stadium when a Haka or Aboriginal War Cry is going on would just pump you up. Very badass lol
Insaint Bear Yes. I know the Liberal media would demonize something like that, and I know that people in the USA are way too divided to do that, but I think it would be awesome. When I see New Zealanders of all different races performing a Haka, I get the sense that they have a much greater sense of unity than Americans do. If an American sports team tried to do a Native American war dance, there'd be cries of racism all over the news.
SFxTAGG3 Certainly more entertaining than watching a "pumfled" up chick trying to keep up with the recording...or whatever they do these days. Stopped watching, too much wank and corruption. Too little play. I mostly watch on RUclips for the things that everyone says were amazing in the game.
SFxTAGG3 Its a game/sport. Stop taking it like its some "War". Its silly and over the top. Yeah its fun to look at a few times, but after a while its just silliness.
First time I have ever seen the haka properly met. And soundly too.. The Moldi seemed as surprised thereby as anyone. The Indigenous peoples of Australia have a very powerful and ancient culture of their own, wherein ceremony is a huge part thereof, and they were no strangers to war and hardship, by any means. Awesome vid.
Great display of culture, Much respect to both! Native people of there lands need to show more culture and pride like these 2 teams! Great to see the aboriginal people grasping this opertunity would love to see more In Australian sports.. Sad but tru the europian culture has supressed and manipulated soo many countrys out of there beutiful culture and ways, its very sad too see that this is not a comman thing
Tony Muir not smashed, it was only couple tries in it. Just FYI. The kiwi squad that played n the game after this had about 12 players with Maori heritage.
Kapt'n Pee My people the most hated in their own country and the world. I honestly wonder why? Usually when people hate on someone it’s becoz the other person has what they want!! You’d think after everything the oppressors put us through, we should not be here. Yet We still going strong “with the alcohol in hand.” I don’t drink but hey I’m black so I must right!!! Now if whitey been through half of the shit we have and still continue to go through he would have killed himself (doing all a favour) Your race is the weakest worldwide that’s why yous try so had to keep the black man, woman and child down.
@@australianoriginal1321 Saying "the white race" you're implying that ALL whites are against blacks which is rubbish. Most of my friends are Murri people and my husband was a Maori. After saying that, it stands to reason all whites aren't tarred with the same brush and all blacks aren't as racist as you. Kia ora.
Love this. Australian Aboriginals were not weak because they didn't often wage war. If only all of humanity was so strong there wouldn't be so much fighting, trouble and greed in the world. They are the best players in one of the world toughest games, so give some respect morons.
We had been warring bro and we where once pretty good about you know the saying " you will never know the violence it took for me to be this peaceful" is simply what we are about we a very ancient history that is older than what the whites say (60k yrs) what the whites did to us is karma for what we have done
@Kapt'n Pee Rape, murder, enslavement, children stolen, torture, land stolen, annihilation in tasmania, culture just about destroyed. Please describe worse ya ignoramus.
I would have loved to see these to teams perform in person, with Ancestral honors in front of a live audience. This would of been an honor for me as Maori. Love from New Zealand
Big respect to the NZ Maori team , who don't need a culture group to do their haka. By far the best haka I've seen , Kia Toa & Kia Kaha boys Tumeke !!!
Wow - racism is still strong and well amongst the Australians. I find some of these comments appalling. but small minded people with no insight tend to flock together and rubbish other people to make themselves feel better about their obvious failings. this was a great display, and nice to see some Aboriginal traditions in response to the Kiwis. I love the haka, etc, but I also loved the response in this video.

to all you moaris saying we lost to the british and didnt do nothing use are wrong we have our own flag we fought and really won use lost so use joined the commonwealth thats why use share a flag and dont have your own.... use gave in sold your culture off... we still fight to this day use dont use just be good slaves to the queen lol saying we lost we are the only ones still fighthing they also let use off because use are asian good workers if use were black it would be different like us and the africans so please stop saying use are black come on use know use are asian. stop it its embarrassing when use get your own flag use can say use fought back until than use lost sold your people and land.
Thomas Brian wth are you talking about mate.... Maori are still fighting them till this day..... we never sold our land we both signed a treaty in which the Britz lied..... reason they wanted a treaty is because they couldn't defeat us in battle with their muskets... speaking of flag we have our own as well that represents our culture. We just don't have one flag all tribes have their own flag if not two or more.... Not bad for a small population of Maori under half million people who stood their ground compare to other countries who are bigger.... sorry mate we ain't asian we brown and black... you guys should be proud Maori paved the way for other Indigenous cultures like yours to have a traditional dance in sports.....
Your are mostly ALL wrong!! What the Aboriginals did in that "War Dance" was and is disrespectful to the Maori people... We do not challenge them and will not challenge them!!! Haka is NOT a Dance!!! Its a spiritual chant, we are speaking and calling to give strength... How ever we do have Haka's that challenge... Maoris are and nor will they EVER be the 'bottom feeders' We are a strong race, we have a King and we have a treaty that has lasted out the centurys, we were NEVER slaved and our culture holds true and strong throughout NZ and the world, while being a multicultural country. Maori people can hold themselves individually strong in ANY environment alone, we make our ancestors proud... Our ancestors fought to death for what they believe in and because of them we are STILL the RESPECTED people and caretakers of the land NEW ZEALAND... Aboriginals should never have to poke spares at the Maori's they need to poke them at the Australian government!! LMFAO!! One thing ALL Nationalities know in Australia and New Zealand, MAORI's WILL Fight for what they believe in to DEATH!!
I don't think you understand, what Aboriginal people do traditionally to an opposing side in conflict is mock them and take the piss out of people. That was an attempt to match Maori haka as a warrior themed response in a respectful way. Otherwise as a traditional rebuttal Aboriginal people would have dressed like Maori and pranced around making a mockery of them. Now that would have been disrespectful. As an Indigenous person Aboriginal Murri. I am in solidarity with Maori as Indigenous brothers and sisters and so are the majority of Aboriginal people. So rethink that sista because it was not meant to be insulting and the very idea of Indigenous football is about solidarity.
Oh one other thing sista which is a big white lie, Aboriginal people are also fighters and my ancestors died defending our land, we are still fighting, never ceded land, no treaty nothing. Australia has a secret history, more settlers/invaders died in the 200 plus years of colonisation in conflict with Aboriginal nations than in all wars Australia has fought. ( and that's from archival evidence for the haters that deny this) But that's a secret Australia won't recognise just like the Maori land wars in NZ. So no need for anger sista, we are allies in the struggle and non of them brothers on the field would have intended offence, if they had thought it would be taken offensively they would not have done it.
I just think this was deadly!!! Both beautiful cultures.
thank you for complimening new zeland i will be taking this to the goverment
why the hell did i post that

@@woohooo7634 Then what else do we call them? Abos? Nope that's even more 'racist'

Polish Mybolo It's not a rip-off, war dances are all very similar because of the objective of doing them.
Tbf if they call it a haka they are ripping the name from the maori
they’re not starting to get into rugby they’ve been a powerhouse rugby nation for decades. plus this is rugby league not rugby

omfg im maori but i loved the aboriginal war cry
i was really hoping for someone to yell, "put some clothes on!" lol
standard caucasian comment
Best Haka I've seen for a long while! Damn they're good! Nothing like a good Haka to get you going!!
That was intense.
Im an Asian and this still sends shivers down my spine
Nothing but respect for our Aboriginal counterparts. Chur

TheKissesfromme
Can't get any manlier tan that! 🤣
So who won the match?
What match? I though that was it!
Bob Flavin Indigenous Allstars (Australian blacks)
First time I have ever seen the haka properly met.
And soundly too.. The Moldi seemed as surprised thereby as anyone. The Indigenous peoples of Australia have a very powerful and ancient culture of their own, wherein ceremony is a huge part thereof, and they were no strangers to war and hardship, by any means.
Awesome vid.
That will get you pumped up.
This is really cool, But when I watch this in 2x speed. I cannot help but laugh
It'd be awkward if you just saw a boomerang hit one of them whilst they were doing their dance.
Thought the walk up with the spears was a tad disrespectful, the Maori showed a lot discipline and class towards the end.👍
***** lmfao hahahahha that's a BIG ASS candy kane LOL.
***** u forgot to mention that dude with the candy kane nd thong
was also doin' the Super Mario Jump at 2:34 lmfao
***** Omg. Ahahahahaha
At about 3:09 my brain immediately spoke for the guys in green, saying - "Sh*t...we are so f*cking outnumbered..."
Farkin Love this video! Hopefully this years Haka by both sides live up to this!
More people on the field than there is in the stands.
+Moesha.L. Jackson warm up game mate
My father is from Ghana and he'll love this.
My money's on the Maoris, even if they're unarmed.
Maoris got smashed. No one can beat the indeginous all stars team
Now if whitey been through half of the shit we have and still continue to go through he would have killed himself (doing all a favour)
Your race is the weakest worldwide that’s why yous try so had to keep the black man, woman and child down.
@@australianoriginal1321 being racist against the racist makes you just as racist as him
@@australianoriginal1321 Saying "the white race" you're implying that ALL whites are against blacks which is rubbish.
I like to think as long as there is one voice left to shout Haka into the darkness..there is hope
I wonder how different the Aboriginal war cry would be if they were never invaded, stolen or had their language stolen from them...
@Kapt'n Pee Rape, murder, enslavement, children stolen, torture, land stolen, annihilation in tasmania, culture just about destroyed. Please describe worse ya ignoramus.
@@australianoriginal1321 we are living in white people's culture
@Kapt'n Pee I think the French and Russians would of treated us better then what the English did
Maori Boys: "I'm so hungry I could eat a whole zebra!"
I would have loved to see these to teams perform in person, with Ancestral honors in front of a live audience. This would of been an honor for me as Maori. Love from New Zealand
Australia do more aboriginal dances Dammit!
I remember watching this as a kid. I was scary as fu*k haha
Big respect to the NZ Maori team , who don't need a culture group to do their haka. By far the best haka I've seen , Kia Toa & Kia Kaha boys
Tumeke !!!
What a stupid comment
Cancel the fucking game, lets all fight lol
Wow - racism is still strong and well amongst the Australians. I find some of these comments appalling. but small minded people with no insight tend to flock together and rubbish other people to make themselves feel better about their obvious failings. this was a great display, and nice to see some Aboriginal traditions in response to the Kiwis. I love the haka, etc, but I also loved the response in this video.
Xymo Nau That’s Aussie racism through social media. Cause I know for a fact none would be game enough to say any of this to a black persons.
Respect from to people of Aborigin&Maori warrior....🇹🇱💛🇭🇲🇳🇿
A young Jordan Rapana?
and proctor
Are they having a match or are they demonstrating their cultural heritage to the world?
Both, friend, both.
no point of an international event if it doesn't bring in the culture of the nations involved :)
Akshara Pitre or any spectators for that matter
thats what you call culture ABDULAHI
both
2:53 this part gose so well perfect timing
Why is that man wearing a g-string?
It was a legitimate question, why would a grown ass man be wearing a g string
Some tribes wore something below that would just cover the front and back but barely leaving the butts exposed. Been like that for Century's
wesley karipa, I looked it up on google just recently but thank anyways
+Sasuke Uchiha #youaresomthingelse ask the new zealanders. dont be talking smack in nz boi you will hurt them and they might do somthing to you brah
waylon Wichman the phrasing of my question was stupid I apologise, I was just pretty shocked at the fact that man was wearing such a revealing outfit.

That is freakin awesome... We need to have a rodeo or something before american football games.
Keith Bacosa or someone cut sick with a uzi.
Keith Bacosa
Sing Yankee Doodle Dandy and prance around or something.
Or some native American thing.
I could feel the healthy tension in the air through the screen. This was amazingto watch.
2:34 1,5 speed hilarious
to all you moaris saying we lost to the british and didnt do nothing use are wrong we have our own flag we fought and really won use lost so use joined the commonwealth thats why use share a flag and dont have your own.... use gave in sold your culture off... we still fight to this day use dont use just be good slaves to the queen lol saying we lost we are the only ones still fighthing they also let use off because use are asian good workers if use were black it would be different like us and the africans so please stop saying use are black come on use know use are asian. stop it its embarrassing when use get your own flag use can say use fought back until than use lost sold your people and land.
Beautiful in strength and ferocity..the Haka is a glorious tribute to the tradition of giving one's all; no matter the odds.
Nice long speach
Bunji great speech man, i support you.
EmpressOfTheWest well aboriginals smell like shit
