Last year I made a quilt like this using black and white to make it look like a crossword puzzle. I like the scrabble idea, the colors are nice. It is always so pleasant to see Jenny's tutorials. I have learned so much from her.
I am going to make the Scrabble Word Game quilt that Jenny done the tutorial on. I think it will make an awesome quilt for my ex-daughter in law who is going through a challenging time with breast cancer. I will back it with flannel to keep her warm and the words will be of her kids and encouragement. I love this lady and want her to know each day when she wraps up in this little quilt, my arms are wrapped around her as well.
What a wonderful idea, you could use words like: Faith, Love, Courage, Hope, etc. There are some really nice 'pink ribbon' fabrics out there too. Good Luck with it!
You have a heart as big as Texas ramonar55. Such love for your son's former wife. The idea of the flannel to warm her warms my heart. Your son is very fortunate.
I made a rag scrabble quilt for my nieces wedding gift. I spelled out the wedding date, their names, love, laugh, kiss and hug. I used colors to match a real scrabble board. And I put the letter score on each block. It was so much fun and they love it.
This would be a great idea of course for a scrabble player ! I am going to use the actual "colors" of the scrabble board I have to make something like this ! Thanks so much for sharing !
wow, I can't believe how much Annie did grow up since the Snowball Block Tutorial! Great Quilt, as always, they are so much possibilities with the layout in this one.
love it as usual can't wait to make one for the kids/grandchildren for a christmas quilt leaving messages for them since were away from each other over the holidays.
This is AWESOME!! I am going to make one of these for my mom with all her kids and grandkids' names on it. I might have to make my blocks smaller, though. I think I'll make one for my grandma, too, with all her kids and grandkids' names on it
I love this idea. I think I will make three of these for my Grandchildren for next year's Christmas. For this Christmas I'm making them. game quilts called Wo Sk Du. It's not "colors of beige" it's "shades of beige". Just saying. My Mother-in-law was a news paper editor and she was always pointing that out to me. Being from the South I said "colors" too but since it was so important to her and it sounded better, I did it her way.(Well I did remember learning "shades" in high school). Keep on tutoring us. You are the best teacher. And you find the easiest ways. Thanks.❤
you are so awesome ! i love the way you explain quilt making, and thank you for all the videos of fast fun awesome projects you post, and for all the TIPS, i search your videos for all my sewing projects ! I have been also checking out your website, your pricing is so fair, your the best !
great idea & love that quilt you made; the colors are right on target. I have found (a few yards in my stash) scrabble fabric & it would be great to use in between words. Thanks for the video; another great one again.
I went over to this website and as they have a chat option, I asked for the link. It took some time, I got it and am passing it on to you. :) Hope this helps!!!!! crosswordhobbyist.com/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIkfi-14Hn4QIVgspkCh3W1gG5EAAYASAAEgI9X_D_BwE
I love this!! I used the lettering technique on my nephews Christmas present last year. I made homemade flash cards of the alphabet. Let me tell you... I wish our alphabet was shorter lol It was worth it though. To trace the letters I used some sticky letters from the grocery store that are beside the posterboard stuff (probably not big enough for this quilt though). And I wish she had demo ed a different letter, some letters like R G and B you have to trace backwards so they are right when you iron them. This quilt with big letters seem like a super fun way to use that technique!
As always with MSQCO, this tutorial was wonderful and fun to watch. I'm looking forward to making one of these for my youngest grandchild for her high school. Go Jackson High Polo Bears!! Oh.. .by the way has anyone used the 2 1/2 in. Strippers templates for cutting 7 shapes yet? It was one of the "Deal of the Day" products about a week ago?
For those of you who are still searching for printable letters you can use to do this quilt, here is a link. I will have to split it up, because you are not allowed to give links in posts anymore; just type it in all together in your search bar: www. dr. jean.org . When you get there, click on "Free Activities", next, scroll ALL the way to the bottom, to the category "Free Books". The very last title in there is called "Letter vests". Click on it and it will give you the alphabets you can download and print to your computer. They come in white or gray, in Word or Adobe.

Great idea! Going to make one for my daughter & husband with words of affirmation based on some of our favorite Bible scriptures. What size are the alphabet templates you're using with the layer cake squares?
Many years ago my son asked for a Scrabble quilt and I made him one that looked just like the scrabble board complete with a bag of letter blocks so that he could actually play a game on his quilt.
Thanks for the heads up on the website. It was really cool. It came up with something totally different than what I figured out. Still 120 blocks using formal names and 100 using nicknames.
Jenny, you are THE BEST! I don't know how you manage to talk and sew while STANDING up, all without running over your fingers! :D

Is this quilt washable? Love this idea for a memory quilt! I didn't know how long the heat and bond would last even though you sew down the letters.
