    It’s as though Dodge doesn’t know its audience. I could be wrong but the main reason people buy the Challenger and Charger is the big V8. Most people complain about fake engine noise being pumped into the cabin so I just don’t get why Dodge think fake engine noise on an EV will be desirable?? 🤷🏻‍♂️

      @@TheModernPioneerONLY because they’re butt hurt and crying over the v8. Nobody laughs at the Hyundais with sound. What other ones have sound? Isn’t it a Mercedes or bmw ?? Like this is not the first or last electric car to have sound. BUT this sounds The best and nobody is giving credit. Plus, you men seem to be followers. People are afraid to come out in a crowd of haters to say they LIKE what Haters hate. So they play right along like followers. Which is exactly what they are.

    • @TheModernPioneer
      @TheModernPioneer Месяц назад +5

      @@Natethegreat200c the main difference between the Charger and something like a Hyundai is the fact that a V8 and a muscle car are inseparable by definition. The EV Charger’s ‘exhaust’ note is irrelevant in either case because it isn’t real. It shouldn’t be an electric vehicle to begin with, almost none of the muscle car fandom wanted an EV, and Dodge spitting out pre-recorded fake V8 sounds is seen as a massive slap in the face to those who still want a V8.

    • @ytvirus

      I wanted a Dodge charger since 2017, I was saving up that entire time after graduating high school to get one, my goal at first was to save 15k to get a 2011-2014 used dodge charger, but that didn't come to fruition, well now it's 2024 and I've saved up a whole lot more. I then thought about the 2015-2023 model charger and I found some good deals online, but most are used with 50k-100k+ kms and you already know people are gonna be ripping on them, so I'd rather not by used. The way the world is going is towards EV, its inevitable, gas prices will continue to sore up high. I'd be a first time car buyer, the price does suck I'll give you that, but these new chargers I feel their styling will grow on people, they're not that bad I'm hoping we will be able to view the customizations on the dodge website soon according to colours /striping/rims from factory. The interior on these new EV chargers are really nice too, upgraded basically everything compared to the old chargers, I do like the older gen charger exterior styling a lot still, but I'm not entirely hating the new one either. Being EV it can still be better for the environment, a bit cheaper to 'charge' up compared to 'gassing' up. Less maintenance drastically, its gonna be mostly just Tires/Windshield Wipers/Fluids. Regenerative breaking will help your brakes last a lot longer. You can charge your car over night, and take it out the next day. I know the sound is very controversial for some, but as someone who was really wanting to have a decent sounding car I'm glad they at least somehow were able to add that in even if it is through a speaker, I'd rather have the feel of a gas car even though it isn't really. I think the biggest downside of the new chargers is the price tag, and how much they weigh. I can live around the whole EV aspect, styling, sound. However, to re-address the pricing, I do think it's not completely out of pocket though either because of how much they've upgraded, even bringing in AWD standard, Nav, upgraded screens/seats, ambient lighting/ panoramic roof. However, if all else fails and EV still doesn't float one's boat, they are coming out with the gas powered version as well! So there's always that as well!

    The problem with these ultra low production hypercars is that after paying gajillions, owners are left with a car that no one cares about. The F1, F50, Enzo, EB110, Veyron are all well-known by the public and that helps build the legend. Teenagers had posters of them, wanted to own them one day. In 25 years, no one's going to care about that, what was it, N-something hypercar; it's not going to be on any poster, and it won't even be as much as a footnote in automotive history.

That damned 5.7L made way less power than Ford's 5.0L... even the 6.4L scatpack barely edged it out. It's nice that Dodge is coming out with a proper 4-seat electric coupe, because aside from the Mini and Fiat, that doesn't exist in the US yet, and nobody else appears to have one on the horizon. I think the Ioniq 5 N really nailed a good balance between being a high performance EV and having some easter eggs that pay tribute to ICE-powered vehicles of the past. Trying to mimic what people are missing out on (from a sound perspective) seems like a bad idea. Also that donut was really impressive but sounded horrendous. Hopefully it's just RUclips compression and computer speakers that are taking away some of the dynamics.

    Gotta say, it sounds pretty damn realistic, but does it have shift points and a simulated trans or is it just a CVT like drone? if the latter, thats not gonna appease charger fans...

    The only selling point if the ram classic seems like it could be reliability. Desite the reputation Chrysler has, I believe even they could make a reliable product if it sat around basically unchanged for 15 years. If the classic isn't significantly more reliable, than yeah, there's no point.

    Let’s not forget the charger is 6000lbs. It’s hard to compare hp numbers / performance to the previous ICE cars.The only reason it’s hitting the 0-60 marks is due to AWD. Mustang pricing is looking much better now lol.

    Nice news segment Matt! I might have missed it if you already stated it, but did Dodge say approximately what the curb weight would be on the entry level Charger EV?

    • @MattMaranMotoring
      @MattMaranMotoring  Месяц назад +1

      Thanks! They only list 5,838 lbs for both the R/T and Scat Pack. I would imagine there's some variation there so I'm not sure how precise that number is, but that's the preliminary curb weight they're sharing so far.
