My perception of the movie: When you allow privileged people to make these direct thought out comments, regardless of the environment/situation. You are allowing them to put you in a place of helplessness, a place of indifference & inequality. Anytime these people directly or inadvertently make these racist comments, and we don’t check them! They are putting us in the same place they tried to keep our ancestors.
This is a dope ass movie, touching on some real sh*t and as our community knows sometimes you gotta laugh it out. This was done beautifully!

This film was GREAT!! Basically you will always feel like a slave when you allow others to box you into their stereotype and are fearful to speak up. Because once you do you’re labeled as a boat rocker and aggressive! I love that they stood their ground!

Hey Zoie!! When they first showed them in the slavery clothing, my first thought was modern day slavery. Like back in those times, it was not ok for you to rebel, speak up for yourself, or even fight back. I agree with everything that you said because those were my same sentiments. It's ok for "others", but when we do it, it's shunned upon. Us having a higher education and speaking properly, while still being our authentic selves is foreign to them. However, the very thing that is shunned, is also mimicked by "them" and used as a come up! Yes, it's not all of them, but the ones that it applies to. Thank you for yet ANOTHER GREAT movie night!!

This genre of film should be called realistic horror. This is too relatable, unfortunately. However, I cheered like crazy seeing them switch it up! Now I don’t feel bad about my switch up LOL. Speak up, don’t let them steal your shit, keep a journal of all the lil slick shit they do/say, and if they fire you for expressing yourself/unjustifiable cause, call EEOC on them and open an investigation - get paid for your pain and suffering.

Yes Zo! By not speaking up,we allow them to step allll over us and say little slick comments abot appearances and what-not....however, the couple was smart about planning an exit strategy to go where their skills are respected and appreciated which will be shown in fair promoting and such. Very good when you look at it without emotions attached.

Clear people is so perfect bc it encapsulates the vapidness and the emptiness that is normalized. When a micro-aggression is called out its like a tear in their reality that needs to be punished. The illusion that all of them exist in the same world is snatched.
I loved this film, but it also made me angry, you hit it right on the head, it is okay for them to say whatever but if you correct it or speak out…we are the problem. It was a good one. This why I can’t work for anyone else any more.

This film was about the racism Black American people face in corporate America, and relates it to slavery. It's very real unfortunately and I'm glad I won't be going back! Also, Finley and the class prank were my favorite movie nights. The long one as well about the lady making her daughter sick.

I refuse to be looked down upon and/or belittled by anyone. I want us all to understand that with God's grace & love, U can be successful without accepting or becoming submissive to their ignorance. Hey Zo! I like the twist it had on the perception of the message. Unfortunately, it is real life for us. I’ve experienced it. Sometimes it can be our own ppl that over look us as well. But as far as it goes with the message of the video…sadly it’s true. I agree with you, we feel like we must succumb to their standards or not stand up for ourselves. & when we do BOOM it’s an email/call/text from higher up being called out for just simply standing up for yourself. But I do feel that if we take control of the narrative from the jump no one will try you that way again.
