I'm an old man, and I grew up in the country. I love to hike, fish, camp, and spend time around the campfire. I was taught to always leave an area better than you found it. We should all be good stewards wherever we go. I have carried a large trash bag with me when I hike to pick up trash left behind by others, but mainly it isn't hikers trashing our parks, it those barely leave the parking lot. Old tires, mattresses, and household junk damning up creeks bothers me. Most of us are limited in what we can do, but the governments rash approach will hurt and cost more people their lives than it will help.

That actually makes total sense. And it’s something easy everyone can do. If everyone cleaned up their trash, no litter, etc the world would be a better place for sure. Tell that to the blacks in the city though and they’ll say it’s racist to be asked to clean up after yourselves.

The first Earth Day was engrossed with global freezing and that there would be a new ice age by 1995 if the combustible engine wasn't eliminated. Then the ozone was being eliminated and then acid rain would turn the world into a desert. Then came global warming and my 6th grade teacher read us a study that Miami would be under water by the year of 2000 unless we got rid of automobiles. See the pattern? Environmental predictions are always wrong.

    • @richardlug6139
      @richardlug6139 10 дней назад

The ozone disappearing was halted by stopping the using of CFC’s and other chemicals that hurt the ozone layer. Acid rain was stopped by getting rid of sulfur in fuels and capturing it while burning coal. So there are good things that come from regulation. The problem comes when the environmental wacko’s do not use sound science like this push toward EV cars when the battery tech is not there yet not to mention our electrical grid. Hybrid cars are what they should be pushing.

That plastic use is a tiny fraction of all the single use plastic in the packaging of the rest of the products sold in the US. It is like taking a bucket out of an ocean and feeling that something was accomplished. If every water bottle was no longer plastic it would only make a tiny dent in the plastic waste problem. The true cause of the recycling bottleneck is that the producers have successfully put the onus of recycling on the consumer. Their lobbyists have been successful in moving their responsibilities to recycle their products onto us. This is why they have not made any progress in increasing the amount of recycled products they make. A huge majority of the rinsed and sorted recyclables we pay to be gathered are never recycled. In fact most are put in landfills or shipped to other countries.

I agree with Peterson o this one, make energy cheap and poverty will be gone. The problem with this lies in big oil comapnies, like Exxon, Shell etc. Watched a video a while back (few months ago at this point) how solar return only around around 8%, while fossil fuels are around 12%. The oil companies would do a "complete" switch to solar if the return investment would rise to 12%.
I won't argue with the other problems that solar and other renewable sources produce, as i understand that making the panels isn't as nature friendly as it seems.
At this point though nuclear seems the most friendly option.

That's where these activists should focus if they actually want change.

I was shocked that Jordan decided to use his hyper-valuable time talking to Adrien Grenier. As a super fan of Entourage, I appreciated what he brought to that show, but that's where it ends for me. He actually seems fairly bright, but to say he's self-absorbed would be damning him with faint praise. Jordan actually seems to be a bit of a "fan-boy" for Hollywood types and famous people in general, which is a huge surprise to me. Nobody's perfect, we all indulge our guilty pleasures.

Funny Jordan mentions at 2:32 how these people try to change other people. That sounds like something a woman would do more so than a guy. For the most part, guys just want to be left alone. Peterson, who never once in his life expressed any concern for "the poor", has had, like Paul on the road to Damascus, an epiphany. I'll just remind him the poor have existed forever, and certainly existed before concern about the environment. It's also true that the poorest of the poor are the ones who will be most affected by a problem they didn't cause. For instance, Africa with a population more than double that of North America creates about 1/4 of the carbon emissions of North America. When Africa becomes unlivable, who could blame Africans for heading to North America or Europe to find a place to live?

It's easy to pass judgement onto others because they are just doing what the societal norm is and obviously that's almost certainly going to be a way that is in direct conflict with your own perspective. I.e. easy targets. The trouble is, they don't have an ideal on the subject, the majority are innocent albeit naive bystanders doing what is just part of habit. Environmentalism is an ideal which influences habit, and there are always us and them conflicts involved in ideals. Even though I am environmentally aware, I have had to be deliberately concious of not passing on my ideas on to my friends, as they do not deserve to be judged. It's not anyone's fault or responsibility. I believe its governments.

You're as backward as Jordan on this. It's the large scale corporate systems of the rich throughout the industrial age that have polluted the environment, not the ignorance of the poor. How can you eliminate poverty without producing MORE for the poor demographic, which would almost certainly be done by the same industrial methods that have caused the pollution. This is NOT an economic problem, it's a behavioral one.

    Jordan,
That's His Interpretation of what's going on.
Human Behaviour is a Different Issue, Problem, Asset to Environmentalism.
    Example :-
The People who Made Fun of His Plastics Campaign Would have Made Fun of Something Else if He was doing Something Else. So a Bit of Inexperience with this Bloke.
Further, One Unresolved Aspect of the Plastics into the Oceans, Rivers was People/Children Still Littering.
