i like that you show the finished project in the start of the video. it makes the proces of the video easy to understand. ☺ thumbs up for making your own bench dogs☺ diy at its best.☺ greetings from fellow diy woman from denmark.
Hello Susie; I have a suggestion for your bench dogs that I think you will like. Buy some O-rings that fit snugly on your dogs. Not tight, just snug. Then you can easily put your dog to the required height and the O-ring will prevent it from falling through. And they are only pennies apiece. Cheers Wayne
Nicely done tool. When hammering a chisel into wood, put the piece on the bench right over a leg. Your hammering is more effective when the blow is not wasted in flexing. It is good to wear a chemical mask when applying oil finishes, or do it outdoors. You can get a rubber 3M half mask with chemical filters from any hardware store or even department stores. Dust mask doesn't do anything but block particles.
A spade bit is what you need for doing the countersunk hole because it doesn't pull up the wood but simply removes the wood by pushing it out of the way. Hind sight is twenty twenty vision I know but not being able to predict the problems you will face on any project you are thinking of doing is impossible. Also a hole saw was possibly what you needed for the initial shaping of the vice jaws.
That looks like a great simple design. Good work. If you have trouble with the swiveling joint not having enough torque try to hollow out the surface a little, so that it is mostly touching near the edge, and not so much in the middle. Why would this work? well, the maximum friction force in a point is roughly proportional to to the pressure at that point. However the torque is dependent on the lever arm for the force. So by focusing the pressure away from the center you get more torque holding power with the same force from the screw.
hi susan sorry i did not remember this tip from wood working you tube video because uyou have dog holes oppisit of each other you can put dogs in each and place a slim board between em and then the piece your working on now you get a stop to hold on for planing good luck next time
All those passes with the router when your table saw will do it in one or two passes! Just lift the blade to the height needed, then go at it at an angle to get the proper width.
+archangel20031 it's a European table saw with a riving knife than doesn't allow dado cuts - it is mounted higher than the top of the blade. I am going to see if I can lower the riving knife though as I don't use the guard
what a clever idea kudos to you. question if you please. could not leather do a better job as opposed to cork ? i know nothing just trying to learn all i can . yup i am a sponge at this point .
Sue, avoid inhaling those superglue fumes. They are toxic to your lungs and eyes coz of cyanic components of the glue. At least keep your working area fanned during the glueing process. I guess this type of mask ain't enough.
You do realise that the table of the pillar drill can be put at an angle and then you would have been able to clamp it down safely, you normally work things out well but today you seem to lost your mojo?
so many clever ideas amazing work 10 thumbs up

Did you try changing the placement of the belt? that is the usual way to increase or decrease the speed of the drill. Good luck with your build!
I must admit half the time I just leave it on whatever speed it’s already on

+Walter Rider leather would be good. I thought I didn't have any, but realised afterwards I had an old handbag
Why don't you use p.v.a. Glue for making the filler as it doesn't have the same unpleasant fumes as superglue.
It's VISE. Not a bad habit.
Search eBay, Amazon for. D nut. Easier recessed nuts. Great videos, well explained
The simple solution to your problem is to put a piece of 1/4" plywood under the bit of wood you are levelling off so you do not hit the stops.

I saw a video and the guy called Ben Crowe, Ben Crimson, lol I was p- - - - -- myself.
