Ive * noticed* the tongue too. But like you say THE PROOF IS. IN THE SINGING!!! IF YOU CANT TAKE IT JUST CLOSE YOUR EYES. THIS GUY IS THE BEST. SING IT Ken!
Just by watching you, I sang some sections of my last song using my tongue the way you *seemed* to be using it. It was more of a “monkey see, monkey do” thing, but I still succeeded in opening my throat and sounding better in my upper range -or so I think. Thank you, Sensei! 🙏
Thanks for taking the time to explain this, I know I was curious about that. It does seem like a very interesting and effective method to open up the back of your mouth more and get better airflow. I've been trying to stabilize airflow in my singing for a while now and moving my tongue forward has seemed to help.
I was in a children's choir called Sugar & Spice back in the 60s & 70s. I sang on KTOB & KGO radio in the SF bayarea & did local performances & I was trained to sing this way with a small hand mirror. My coach was very focused on tongue position & breathing techniques. As a kid it was very intense but it works.
Never has a coach or lessons of any type. That said many of your video's have been helpful. Never knew about head voice , chest voice or mixed voice. Things like that but after watching your videos I can feel these things. Respect for your knowledge and thanks for the help
Ken I've never mocked your toungue but it is different to mainstream. I've only ever noticed toungue placement on two people. You and James Labrie from Dream Theater. Clearly it works and shows a level of control and care for singing as a natural instrument. ❤ from Melbourne Aus.
This was really interesting! I appreciate your approach, Ken. One thing I have noticed is that I can see and hear you singing more nasally when accessing your mixed register or bridge, especially from 2:09 and from 3:21. Is that something you recommend when approaching exercises to smooth out the passaggio chest and head voice?
I'm not a singer by any means, but for those who say tongue placement is useless, check out the late Chester Bennington of Linkin Park and Chuck Billy of Testament. They kept their voice intact their entire career and their videos show that they use this technique. Props to the real pro, Ken Tramplin. Sorry for my bad english haha
Hey Ken, I really want How to Sing Better Than Anyone Else, but I had a question! In the course, without in person feedback, how will I know I am doing what you tell me to correctly? Thank you for the time
People missing the main point here... He is saying train for 30years. Look any professional on any field, the difference always look much sharper with life dedication of training. (Easy example to understand. Arnold Schwarzenegger and same age budy builder) . . . Ken' s throat look like Arnold 30 years ago. Why? Can Arnold lift same weight? Can Ken hit all thise notes? (I love Arnold, I grow up with his movies)
I get it, but, why is he the only singer I’ve ever seen do this with his tongue. Seems like it’s not actually THAT necessary if no one else is doing it.

Forget vocal coaches, I have never in my life seen a well known, talented singer do this with their tongue. Maybe it works for you, but in the real-world, no one does this.

You've just eased up the passage to my top voice... it works !!! I kinda make a scoop or a spoon with my tongue first..

Ken, excellent presentation. Do you keep your tongue touching the back of your bottom teeth, or resting on top of the teeth?

I'm a singer and songwriter form india uttarakhand
Maybe you could also make a video about when to swallow between singing a phrase? No one seems to talk about this so it is a very confusing topic.
I’ve heard those comments too but somebody once told me that the proof is in the singing.
I thought the same thing about your tongue 👅 😂 I sing. You are very talented though.
Quiz: ,.....Where to get Ken Tamplin's tongue.....👀
Have you ever done version of roadhouse blues ..I bet a Doors Jim Morrison exploration might be fun....
I should!
