- Introduction was on the debut album Chicago Transit Authority and was the first song on the album. The album was released in 1969 and was written and sung by the great Terry Kath. This album was on the Billboard 200 for 171 weeks and went double platinum. Danny Seraphine immediately showed his brilliant chops on this song and others. Introduction is a great tune with different melodies, tempos and drum patterns. Danny Seraphine and Terry Kath do an outstanding job on this tune and together drive the band. They had such a strong musical connection. The horns and bass are superb as well. I hope you enjoy.
I loved this tune when I was a kid. Haven’t heard it in years. Great job!
I always thought this was such a great sample of Chicago’s sound…..and to be the first song on their first album
I’ve been here in your channel for like one hour and half enjoying your great groovy vibe, awesome drumming Gary, keep doing this please🤯♥️

Masterful! Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Your timing is incredibly accurate and spot on. Huge pleasure watching you on drums playing CTA songs.
I appreciate it! Thanks for your comment.
Loved this since I was a kid..trombone..Trumpet..drums..excellent..I'd hate to be your downstairs neighbor.
Me too! They had a great and unique sound, especially back then. Thanks for watching!
I’ve always loved the drumming on that song and I really enjoyed watching you play. I’m glad I ran into your video.

Hey thanks for watching and for your nice comment!
Beautiful Gary!
Thank you!
Before they went "Pop" and one of their very busy complex tunes.......Danny and Terry were great. The horns outstanding as they still are. You are one hell of a good drummer!
Thanks for the really nice comment! I totally agree....once Terry passed, they lost their grittiness and became a pop band.
Great for you..😊👍🤘🙏
Thanks!
Great!
Thank you!
Awesome ¡¡
Thanks!
Did Chicago ever play at Chamblee High School in thr early '70s? I was told they did for an assembly on a Friday in '70-'72, but wasn't sure. It's been one of my favourite groups!
I don't know if they did but would have been a cool event.
Even Danny can’t play this as well as you covered it! Impressive… from a fellow”brother of the drum.” (In fact, a Chicago Tribute Band drummer.😉)
Thank you, especially coming from a Chicago tribute band drummer! That must be a lot of fun to play Chicago music in a tribute band.
You are quite welcome my "drum brother". Yes, absolutely love playing the Chicago tunes!

Great performance. Do you have drumshop
Thank you! No, I do not.
How many time signatures going on there?😮
I believe there are three.....4/4, 3/4 and a really unusual one in 19/8 (I think)
What's your opinion on Leinoid and Friends.?
I've only heard and seen them online. I think the few things I listened to sounded solid
