this is way better depiction how gm actually perform than other gundam anime. its not just randomly exploded, but instead its destroyed because enemy really shot it with tactics not just randomly shoot and some gm just exploded
@@dooggo-1402I mean, if a show that prides itself as being real mecha depicts a battle that isn't just messy head on charges from both sides with massive casualties, why isn't this a win? Gundam never was about deep tactical planning and the sorts, but still even the basic being properly represented is nice, especially considering how in later shows battles are more about mc just going in shredding everyone because they're just that good.
Nah, These are esrly Production GM Ground types. Units made using leftover parts from Gundam. They definitely got thst bit of Lunar Titanium that's keeping them alive
When you realize the trenches the GMs fell in are probably around 40-60 meters in height…. Gives the battle a completely different perspective of scale…
I'm not surprised there'd be rivalries between MS Pilots, Aircraft Pilots and Tank Crews given how Mobile Suit units are likely seen in both the Federation and Zeon as the pride of their armies
These are definitely early productions. They got shot multiple times by gunfire and explosives yet they're still moving around. These pilots are lucky to be inside something that can keep them alive
Aside from the character facial animations, Igloo really executed the CG mobile suits really well on earth and in space, you can get a feel of their mechanical weightiness while also having a more natural flexible movement without looking too clunky or too human
If I remember correctly odessa became a mining region under federation control, then the zeons decided to take it over for its precious minerals and materials
The only problem I have with all of this is when a ground gm gets destroyed by a zaku machine gun, now if it was a normal gm it would be fine and make sense, but it isn't. The gm ground type has the same armor, more or less, than the original rx-78-2, which means it should be almost invulnerable to the zaku machine gun.
@@つぶやき垢カルネ Maybe, but they also mention how they stopped mass producing ground GMs because the armor was too expensive. The only other mobile suit that says it has Luna Titanium (That isn't a Gundam) is the GM Sniper II, which does only have it in the chest/cockpit area. But who knows at this point...
As other user said it’s a mixture of lunar titanium and regular composite titanium ceramic. The RGM/RX-79 are made with cobbled up inferior parts from the V project. The fact the Ground GM hasn’t exploded to bits say a lot about the quality of the subpar V project parts used to create stop gap machines. The damages taken and continued MS usage explain why these parts ran out and the stop gap machine like Shiro EZ8 was created instead of simply repairing a RX-79. The Feds has superior stop gap units for retrieval that the pilot is an afterthought.
@@tomhuynh3867 The Ground GMs aren't made up of spare RX parts, the Ground Gundams are but the GMs are only based on their own production line. The Ground Gundam did use some spare prototype RX parts, but were mostly inner frame and sensor stuff. It is almost guaranteed the Ground GMs are mostly made out of Luna Titanium since it's said they can rival the original Rx 78 2 under gravity thanks to Luna Titanium being lighter that the Titanium Ceramic of the later Mass Produced GMs. The repairs to the Ez 8 can be explained by the fact that it was a Ground Gundam which looked similar on the outside, but again it had different insides with a lot of specialized armor bits on the outside. While there was a dedicated production line for the Ground GMs, there wasn't one for Ground Gundams, that's why Karen gets her Ground Gundam repaired by a GM head. They produced a limited amount of Ground Gundams, since they were using spare parts, and that's it. The real problem isn't the fact that they are made of Luna Titanium, we have seen it sustain some damage from Magella cannons at point blank range (Ryu sacrifice scene) and magnetic mines which were about to destroy the Gundam if Amuro didn't disarm them, the problem is how inconsistent it is and how it's shown on the anime, all armor is like this. For example in the scene of 08th Ms Team when Shiro first uses the Ez8 and battles a bunch of Magellan tanks, he gets hit on the chest at a very close range and only gets some scraches, the problem occurs when we find out the main chest armor plate is made out of 2 Zaku's shoulder shield. So now Zaku's main armor, which is made of the same material as their shield, is impervious to high powered ballistic weapons, ohh wait it can also be penetrated by EFGF's tanks which have a much lower caliber and less power per shot since it has 2 barrels which lowers compresion on each of them. Space magic I guess. I get mad at this and many more bs lore stuff (looking at you "180mm" hyper bazooka which is more like a 700mm in model kits and animation) because UC Gundam is suppoused to be the first or one of the first real robot shows, it has all of this lore to explain a lot of stuff from its universe and how it developed which is really inteserting and somewhat logical, only to throw it all away for no good reason.
I thought they had the same issue with Gundam G where the first batch was but it's expensive so they changed in the later batch. Considering this is the assault on Odessa Mine Base, some are probably the first batch which is why we see some get hit by explosives but they're still intact but most are probably the cheaper variants
Kinda love how the GM ground type was really just a gundam ground type, both were much more powerful than the normal GM and some other GMs and the performance of both suits were also greater.
The Feds YF-MG100 machine guns are based off of M2 Browning machine guns and I don't know where the similarities are with Zeon's M120A1 and the DP28 other than the pan magazine.
I dislike how humanized their reactions are to things like explosions. The mobile suit does not have a flinch reaction, and the pilots are unlikely to command their mobile suits to reproduce one; they would just flinch in their cockpits.
I always took it as the MS interior AI purposefully preparing to better stabilize the Ms from the incoming shockwaves of explosions or potential HE projectiles in case it gets hit. OG Gundam mentioned it having a Learning computer so my headcanon was always that There’s a program running in the background allowing the pilot to do all of the detailed movements with the comparatively few levers and buttons in the cockpit. And due to the Ms being so large and heavy it’s only natural to assume said AI/Program will try to keep its stance secure under fire. Same thing in space with the AMBAC system, where the MS itself will automatically adjust thrusters, verniers and even its limbs to provide the most balanced amount of propelled movement in any given direction without using up fuel too much.
The only thing I dislike here is: GMs in the original anime move like humans (for obvious reasons), but here they move like real robots. Well, that's okay, IGLOO took the series on a more realistic level. Totally fine. But it loses that kind of energy when they slide down the slope. The GMs move like real humans. They should stay in that position and just slip. Like real robots would. If they have a computer system for that, it should alos apply to the regular movement. This is just not right in my opinion. Great show anyway.

Sounds like the red pill, I like it.
it's not exploded because it's ground type gm which is limited production and has better armour.
Geez, the Gundam Fanbase really is an example of how any battle is good because "Tactics".

That bout 35 meters imo
