They just changed all the Pittsburgh stuff out to green handles on the website and no longer label those ones pro, and unfortunately I’ve started seeing some of them labeled “made in China” in the stores already If I were to guess, they’re making this change in hopes of selling more “icon” stuff as their pro line
@@Manis-World thanks for passing on good information, I was not aware of this!! I always value you guys for new news in the tool world,we help each other when possible, thanks again my friend!!
That Capri is downright affordable, but I've always been a polished chrome man. No matter how many times a ratchet slips out of my oil covered hands, I always end up reaching for something with a smooth handle. Hard to argue with the price on that Capri though
Hi Nathan, it comes down to one own preference with handles!! The Capri ratchet is nice, but I use chrome handles at times, depends on the situation, thanks Nathan for your thoughts!! Stay tuned!!
@@jefftovani5535 absolutely agree about preference. Maybe I'd have an easier time if I learned to adjust my preference a little and switch up the tool from time to time!
I don’t have a ton of newer ratchets. I have 3 snap ons that are newer style, the rest are Craftsman and other pawn shop finds. I have broke the craftsman too many times that I tend to only grab the Snap On. I trust them. Keep up the good work.
Jeff the 90 tooth Gearwrench ratchets are even thinner than the 84. I believe your Pittsburg is the standard that is now Quinn branded. The new Shittsburg Pro has a black and red handle with a lower profile head and very little backdrag compared to the green ones. I had high hopes for the Capri but mine switches direction too easily when you Palm it, like the detent spring is weak. Nothing good to say for the Icon here but it functions
Hi frosty yea the 90 tooth gearwrench are thin, i dont have one as a yet!! yea i got the red and black pittsburgh pro ratchet!! i did do the wrong one, oops! so your capri is acting up, boy i dont like hearing that, wtf!! thanks frosty, i loved your williams wrench video!!
Jeff, I did get Sata ratchets 1/4 and 3/8 an 1/2 dr with comfort grip. They are 72 tooth and the 3/8 was bone dry. Oiled them and yes they are just fine ratchets if you like the old gear wrench you will like the Sata.
I'm a lubetech and I have the longer snap on 3/8 and I love it. It and my sockets are the only expensive tools I have everything else is icon but for something that I hold in my hand for around 7 hours a day I wouldn't have it any other way.
Hi Megal, snap on tuff to beat, they make sweet ratchets! If I only had one ratchet, it would be snap on!! ICON tools have made a big splash in the tool world as well!! I was never loyal to one brand, and now that I do tools reviews you'll see many different brands on my channel! Thanks for jumping in !!
I like the look of the Icon. Red handle and bold name. And i like the Icon handle grip too. I dont like handles too soft and spongy. I always check inside my new ratchets and add some super lube with a tooth pick if needed. I have snap on ratchets too. My favorite is FH80. That Icon is right there with it. Love Gearwrench too! Capri looks nice. I have one of the chrome with goat head 90 tooth. Still new.
Everyone has styled their ratchets like Snap On. The Icon and Capri look very much like Snap On. For everyday professional use it's hard to beat Snap On ratchets. A friend has a Pittsburgh socket set. I tried the ratchets. They felt good in the hand and the action was smooth. My gripe with those are the backwards reversing lever and that green color. The Icon has the same handle so I think I'll pick up an Icon flex head.
Hard to beat snap on, nepros are up their, mac, their all up their in price as well, the pittsburgh ratchet head is very big!! icon have a harder rubber, but seem nice!! i pick up a icon flex head, soon!!
Koken is my new favorite but like the Nepros, they’re so nice I don’t like using them on much. My new regular beater is a Williams 36 tooth but I’m looking at picking up a set of Protos for “Reasesrch” purposes of course.
Yea 72 tooth my sweet spot, I think some people get caught up in the higher tooth counts, more is not always better in this case!! Thanks for jumping in!!
The Gearwrench has the recessed lever, love that ratchet, can't go wrong with that unit? Of course the Snap On would win, but as far as my favorite for daily use, GW wins?
Dave nothing wrong with gearwrench, it was my work horse for many years!! I do like the new Capri, but I'm getting a 90 tooth gearwrench next! Their head is small! Something about ratchets, I always liked them, more than any other tool!! Thanks Dave!
People always say they hate the push button because in a very tight area it’s possible to press it and detach the socket but to be honest I find myself struggling to pull sockets off more than I do fine myself in those super tight spots. Especially when the ratchet is brand new on a quality anvil they can really be on there!
Hi Nick, I know the feeling nothing worse than a slippery socket that cant be removed easily!! I have a lot of ratchets with push button and most of the time it's not a problem! Stay tuned my friend!!
I prefer the push button as well, for the same reason. Tekton has a thin head ratchet with a recessed button. Husky does too. Never had the button pushed accidentally.
@@FinallyMe78 hi my friend, it has never been too much of a problem for me either!! Greasy sockets are always hard to get off with out push button,no doubt!! Thanks for joining in,stay tuned!!
