Haha. So unsurprisingly it's doubled in price from its Chinese release last year🙄😂. £1000+ is not the way to sway people from the big 3. Think sales will be low on this ....

@@mgbosshogg Remember the Pixel 7 Pro on release last year (before inflation) was £950 for a 256GB model with a sub-par 2-3-year-old chip. The Xiaomi also comes with a charger, case and screen protector, the same three years of support, and updated faster RAM and storage. So, versus the Pixel, the value flagship, it is close, and against the 12GB S23U is £300 less.

@@andyH_England true. But £1k is a mental barrier in sales for an unknown. And it was $550 on release last year in China. I wish them good luck with it, but a quick straw poll of friends and family suggests it's their usual swing and a miss.

I have used the Xiaomi 11, Xiaomi 12 pro and some of Xiaomi’s sub phones (poco x3 pro and poco f4 get).
My conclusion is that when you first buy the phones they run smoothly but after some time you notice the annoying bugs, bloat ware and frankly horrible OTA updates. My Lg v60 was consistently getting faster OTA updates before my Xiaomi. What really pushed me away was the Xiaomi 12 pro. That phone wasn’t the upgrade over the 11 I was expecting. Laggy UI, buggy software, constantly overheating.
The 13 pro seems to have solved some of these issue with MIUI 14, less bloat ware and the new improved SD Gen 2 but the pricing is not doing them any favours.

The Leica cooperation is really nice. Last phone i had with that was the Huawei P30 Pro and it still shoots beautifull pictures compaired to newer phones. That said, i now own a Oppo Find X3 Pro and waiting for the X6 pro.
The Oppo X6 Pro wil be the camera phone to beat, i am sure. It has the same sony main 1" sensor, a high end ultrawide sensor (cant go without that anymore samsung and iphone!) AND it will have periscope zoom! Best thing even is the new MariSilicon dedicated cpu it will have for image processing, it will be the newest X2 variant and it is said that it will amaze and shoot low light pics and video WITH HDR and crisp quality. Just a few weeks before announcement! I hope u will have that one to review.

I have been using my Xiaomi Mi 9 for 4 years ,and was thinking of waiting for this one. However, I made the jump back with the Samsung S23 Ultra. With the 512GB update for the price of the 256GB and freebies (Preorder), the pricing of the Xiaomi 13 series model is disappointing. This is the reason why I made the jump back to Samsung. With the price so close to the Ultra model's base 256GB, and the the lack of the announcement of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra / S series, were the main reason I got back to Samsung.

Just chiming in to say that a 1" sensor is way smaller than 1".
It's misleading marketing, since the 1" measurement isn't referencing the size of the sensor, but rather the diameter of the vacuum tube that would fit around it in ancient analogue times. Still way smaller than micro four thirds and APS-C.

Buy a cheaper Xiaomi flagship killer (like the Redmi K60), spend a few minutes on it, then wait a week, and flash a custom ROM.
Pixel experience if you want google, LineageOS if you don't.
Sure it doesn't come like that stock, but it's much cheaper than current flagships, and you're pretty much guaranteed a much longer than normal update cycle, it's super stable, and it's completely bloat free.

Xiaomi phones always have impressive hardware and features for the price, but their software experience has left me extremely skeptical to the point where I would never buy it ever.
I got my dad the Mi 11 Lite and within 5 months the fingerprint scanner stopped working and a software update literally made the phone stutter as if it was running at 5FPS. He ended up selling it. I had the Mi Note 10 and it was the best phone I ever used until Nov of last year when the October security patch bricked the phone. It doesn't even let me get to the recovery screen, it just is stuck on the Mi logo.

The big question is how many years of software updates does xiaomi offer. Compare that to Samsung with 4 years and 5 years of security it's a no brained why I got thr 1tb 12gb for £1040 after 2x 10% discount and a £150 trade in for a 0 value android phone (literally my wileyfox was worth nothing)! Videos on Sammy are superior and don't forget you get 4k 60fps front facing on s23 ultra. Xiaomi has nothing of that sort. The only saving grace for 13 Pro is the colab with leica which I think have beautiful photo colour science! Shame leica didn't team up with Sammy otherwise it would have killed the mobile phone market! Oh and don't forget the stylus is amazing!

I think that there is still a need for Xiaomi to make improvements to its smartphones and if we take Samsung's significant gains in camera and CPU departments, the galaxy S23 ultra seems to be way better than the other android phones

The S23U uses the same SoC as the Xiaomi 13 Pro. The cameras are similar, but Xiaomi is not going for megapixel chasing, instead using a larger sensor. I prefer the Xiaomi approach.

Hate 1inch sensors on phones, just makes the back design of any phone an absolute ugly eyesore. I'm so glad my S23U doesn't have a 1inch sensor and apple as well so I hope they stay away from 1inch sensors as they don't need it to compete.

    • @sercan272727
      @sercan272727 Год назад +2

s23 ultra is at 0.75 inch right now , they will eventually put a 1 inch sensor, you cant fight physics with software. you can always come up with more attractive design with placement of 1 inch sensor too. I m also not fan of this giant round module vivo and xiaomi adapts.
