Camera Shootout: Xiaomi 13 Pro vs Honor Magic 5 Pro vs S23 Ultra
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 3 мар 2023
- I took the Xiaomi 13 Pro, Honor Magic 5 Pro, and Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra out for two days in Thailand where I shot a bunch of photos and videos.
Each phone brings something new to the table. The Xiaomi 13 Pro packs a 1-inch main camera and a new 50-megapixel "floating telephoto" lens. The Honor Magic 5 Pro uses a 50-megapixel main camera with f/1.6 aperture and 1/1.13-inch image sensor size. The Galaxy S23 Ultra packs a 200-megapixel camera with a 1/1.3-inch image sensor.

I still think you're one of the most unbiased reviewers out there.
I also like how you show so much of the culture in the places you go when doing these camera shootouts. 💪🏽💪🏽
Thanks for the hard work Ben ,this is a very helpful comparison .
Ben's camera comparison nowadays is like travel vlog+camera test ...different places for different tests :)
Unbiased always 😊
Which is refreshing
Three of the world's best smartphone cameras out there! Nice comparison video man, great job!
Hey @bensgadgetreviews, I really loved it how you introduced how the original scene looks to naked eyes before the photos are taken. Great stuff.
Love your comparison and the tourist trip! Great video and very insightful. Brought a lot of memories from my trip to Thailand 10 years ago
Been looking forward to your take on the Honor Magic 5 Pro! Can’t wait for this one
eyy the comparison video that I been waiting for, keep up the great content! Ben
amazing review ben as always! keep up the good work brother:)
My no 1 guy for any phone review.
Keep up the good work 💯
Thanks for the video comparison, so far the only one I have seen comparing these 3 models at once Would love to see photo comparison between these phones too! Based on this video, undoubtedly S23U is still the best all-rounder video shooter despite lacking the bigger sensor.
Love your camera comparisons! Do you have any plans to do a day in the life series? That would be amazing! 💞
I loved the review.
Thank you so much, Ben.
As always great work and to the point Ben, thanks man!
This helps a lot in choosing my next phone thanks Ben! Love the content 💞
Been loving your videos for a year or so, keep going!
I believe the mic in the Honor tries to capture audio that the camera is shooting when you zoom, so audio around the phone is almost non existent.
Have been a fan to you channel for many years, glad to see you visit BKK. Enjoy your stay. PS. It's funny that you have the sample pics of our infamous messy cable in the city.
Great work, mate, as always. Keep it up, buddy.
I really enjoyed this camera phones shoot out. I never laughed this much before. Great work as always ! 👏
Amazing camera comprising as always Ben's bro
Ohhhh competition is getting pretty goood. Still rocking my Xiaomi 11T, looking forward to getting the 13 Pro
As always great work Ben 👏👍
great video! Looking forward to the Honor 5 vs Vivo X90 pro+ comparison!
Based on DxO mark's no 1, I expected a lot more from Honor, but found Xiaomi and Samsung better in most situations. Great shootout as always Ben, thank a lot for making these honest reviews.
Thats Because DxO Mark is Shit
DXO. Lying Lying Lying
DxO is Bullshit and payed lyiers.
@@HATECHANNEL381 Go away, fanboy
@@HATECHANNEL381 They aren't lying. Shut up fanboy
dude, i love how you showed us what it was like in low light conditions with your camera then showing us the photos !!
lot of low light photos and videos, with no night mode (amazing), nice places... good shots that shows strength and cons of every devices (and even more in the low light scenarios, videos and photo wise), same in day time very very good
love your videos dude keep up the good and honest work, can't wait for honor magic 6 pro review
Thank you
All three did great! Would have been nice to see the X90 Pro+ in this comparison as well! But great video as always!
Ben, as always congratulations. I was thrilled with this one-inch sensor but in the end, at night the shots are unrealistic, too much light. in the end the difference with a competitor sensor is a little more depth of field and the natural boke effect. From my point of view it doesn't seem like the famous game changer. Is it true that xiaomi doesn't have hdr in portrait shots? Thank you .
Great comparison Ben! How does Honor's camera performance compare to the Vivo x90 pro plus?
Oh, yeah, camera comparison with a reference! Love it!
Wow grate job bro u are my favorite on videos keep up the grate work stay safe!
thank you, I have been waiting this video for weeks^^
Thanks for this...as always your content is so great and fair..keep up the good work...saludos from Colombia!
Thank you very much!
Great work as always. I can't wait to get my hands on the Honor Magic.
You were in my hometown? Welcome to Bangkok:) Hope you enjoy your stay. Nice vid as always:)
Excellent review man you deserve better 😊🙏
Awesome video 🙏 thank you brother for you hard work
Nice, that was a great comparison.
The one thing I dislike about pretty much all smartphone camera videos is the kind of jitteriness when panning across things.
I don't know why, but none of the phones here did a particularly good job of panning. While I'm not a fan of iPhones, I think
they're the only ones which can pan without that skippy jitteriness. Then again, maybe I'm wrong. Hard to tell.
Enjoying your comparison of the devices. Still waiting for Xiaomi 13 Pro availability here in Singapore.
This is real tech journalism, you go to the field and you use the phone in real world, you don't hide in your controlled environment and churn out content like a lot of so called RUclips tech journos
Welcome to Thailand Mr.Ben ✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻
Great review as always! Would love to see a video where you compare the software features for photo / video editing on different android flavours / brands, as i feel like the overall camera performance for everyday users is good enough on all mid and high end phones nowadays. I have been with OnePlus for the past years and would be interested what other brands offer in terms of additional features.
Editing it's easily xiaomi by far it's editing features are insane just ask around
As a S22 Ultra owner thats one thing I don't like, the editing features and filters just feel lame on Samsung's. Doesn't even have a proper Vignette option
Excellent comparison Ben! I believe many people are struggling on which one to buy among these 3 (or 4 if including X90 Pro+). S23 U may have firmware updated since it has been launched earlier and hence more stable.
All 3 phones are truly great! I feel the Samsung came on top here though. I was really expecting the Honor to do better, due to that top DXO mark!
Superb comparison Ben! 👏 You skilfully fit in so many different shot scenarios!
Nicely done as always and thank you for that tour of Bangkok! ✌
Those ribs looked delicious, no wonder they vanished. 😄 Wow 8 dollars!
Wait for final version
dxo ratings are a joke, never trust them
Looks you are right. Night shots from pixel 7 are very noisy compared to Huawei p50 pro. Dxo is not true review
Can't wait to get my hands on the Honor. It's photos look superb and the phone is a beauty.
Xiaomi 13 pro looks great in night. Overall i think xiaomi 13 pro is a good option against s23 ultra.
it definitely has a more capable camera setup, especially the floating lens feature of the tele allows some super nice close-up shots.
i'd take the 13 pro over the s23u any day of the week.
Great comparison bro❤️
Welcome to Thailand Ben 🇹🇭 I'm amused that you zoom those cables 🤣
Very good video as usual:)
I think Samsung has really improved their video this year.
very helpfully compairison video review...thanks ben
The best channel when comes to camera review.
Praiser here again.😊
5:09 I was at around the Same time at the Same Market lol. I traveled there from Austria ^^
Awesome Video as always 🤙
If you want pure unbiased fact this guy brings you that. An absolutely fantastic reviewer. No bias , just the facts and honest.
Nice review Ben. Definitely stay off the taxi bikes in Bangkok :)
Very Good Comparison video... After seeing your footage of Thailand I think I might take a short vacation there sometime this year 😉
I was gonna buy the Honor Magic 5 Pro but managed to get a good deal on the S23 Ultra 512 GB (Black) with the Galaxy Buds2 Pro here in the U.K.
do huawei phone still without google services?
@@TheBhezard yes
Those powerline are mostly arrangely better than in my country the Philippines,🤣😱 but good review ben as always! these are the 3 monsters along with vivo and pixel on android phones..im scared for whats comes next bit by bit there's no more room for innovations 😳
imagine a phone with lossless zoom like on the xperia 1 IV, huge sensors and variable aperture like on the mate 50 pro. Now that's endgame phone camera for me. Then imagine using gcam on those, yikes man getting goosebumps
great review bro!!!
Great review Ben I get the feeling Samsung went for the 200 megapixel approach more for marketing clout than actual performance.
It still performs👀
@@elivegba8186 with serious drawbacks like the time it takes to take pictures on top of the already slow shutter speed Samsung phones suffer from.
@@SunsetNova If you need a lot of details for stilt image I don't see a problem, it's truly not for everyone but for some editing works, it won't hurt to have that option
@@Meteor-ThunderBears long standing slow shutter speed is far more important to address instead of playing the megapixel game
i subscribed off the back of this video. I would also like to see some more controlled tests, where the same tripod mounting position, etc is used. Like a photograph session setup. Also, it would be great to see some larger group shots. I had a P20 pro and took some beautiful photos with its 40mp mode of large group shots on camp. It was golden hour and everyone sat still and the results were amazing, especially in 2018.
Thank you
Great video. You did a good job
Was waiting for this
Great review.
PS. welcome to my country, wish u have a good trip.
Great comparison test mobile phone's camera with special things vlog in Thailand. Many situation can show how different of each phone. 👍
Nice work Ben
Ben's hanging around where I usually go. Phrom Phong area near Sukhumvit 24. Go to Jodd Fairs on the weekends. 05:48 - I see you visited Angel's Smoothie stand. Don't forget try the 16 baht boat noodles in the Victory Monument area. See you there Ben!
Yes. More camera shoot outs and content. Give me a reason to get a different brand plz Ben lol
Great comparision. That food ham ham. I'm loving my S23U.
Thanks for the comparison.
For me.. and this is subjective.. S23 Ultra
Thank you, my friend, for reviewing the phones. I want to buy the S23 Ultra or Xiaomi 13 Pro. You advise me in one
Awesome comparison Ben, I'm still rocking a UK exynos s22 ultra, really surprised me how much the camera has improved in the s23 ultra. Maybe a combination of the new lenses and the Snapdragon processing, but everything seems way more polished (especially night-time videos, which frankly suck on the s22 ultra). But, I bought the s22 ultra outright and plan to keep it for at least 3 generations so hopefully the s25 ultra is that much better again haha
Try if you can sell it for 600usd , s23 ultra is a wrothy upgrade
Thanks, how do you compare the camera of Vivo X90 Pro Plus and Honor Magic 5 Pro?
Ben, did Xiaomi mentioned something about portrait video? Or the sensor is big enough to do that natively.
Very nice practical review.
What color science did you use for the X13 Pro(Authentic or Vibrant)? Quite impressed with X13 Pro especially its natural bokeh from just having bigger sensor. The color science is quite there too, almost no edits or color tweaking necessary.
Also, KUDOS to you for bringing all those gadgets with you in those streets. That took guts!
I used vibrant
- Finally, which phone did ben love. ? xiaomi, honor, or samsung. ?
- The ribs at 5:35.
Thank you for the review, it was quite revealing in the night shots.
From what I saw, Honor deserves first place. More sharper images and good colors in different scenarios compared to others. Of course, differences are small at this level.
Can I ask you a question? Have you ever had any connection issues with other phones etc? I had with the Honor magic 4 Pro and have returned it to my phone supplier in the UK. ( Three)
Great comparison..
How di rate the xiaomi 13 pro vs pixel 7 Pro vs x90 pro in camera and video as well
Great video Ben. To sum it up, if you had to choose one as daily driver largely based on camera performance, which one would it be?
I'm using he Xiaomi 13 pro now
@@bensgadgetreviews i wantbto get the xiomi 13pro but should i wait and see what the ultra will bring?
Great video. What about the 8k video?
Great stuff.
I was hoping Honor will dominate, but I guess that can't happen anymore. All phones are gonna be somewhat similar at the top.
I think Xiaomi won the photo category
Great and fast work!... I wasn't expecting a magic 5 pro comparison so soon.
It's hard to choose, if you want the best software and image processing like director's mode, switching between all lens, more soft transition, audio quality and zoom It's S23 Ultra.
If you are more in to one sensor for most of the time with great quality and stable video, almost professional deep of field, and you really don't care for selfie video and exposure issues than the incomprehensibly expensive 13 Pro is you choice.
Magic 5 pro is doing great, it's really Magic, some things as to be fixed like audio in yours examples but it's impressive.
Thanks for your hard work. 👍
The Xiaomi 13 Pro in the UK is £300 less than the same 12GB S23U, so not sure where you live, but that remark about expensive is not across the board. In fact, it could be said that in the UK, the S23U is "incomprehensibly expensive". I expect the Honor to be similar to the Xiaomi and also the upcoming OPPO Find X6 pro. They compete at the same price as the S23+ over here!
Ben always my favorite
Wow stacked line up!
All three are pretty good in good lighting conditions. And all three are good at selfies. I guess they have similar camera modules and its obvious on what datasets to train. But in low light you can dafinitely see the difference. Samsung is more versatile. And it looks like it just have more resources in tweaking different types of shots. On the close 2nd place is Xiaomi in my opinion. And Honor is close 3rd.
Awesome job!
Hi ben, did u think the mate 50 pro its a better cam than s23u?
Hey dude, how were you able to get the Honor Magic 5 Pro in Thailand?
Good job bro !
Please have a camera comparison between the Huawei Mate 50 Pro and Honor Magic 5
That's exactly why DXOMark can no longer be trusted especially in ranking the honor magic 5 pro tops in camera performance... Even in other reviews I've watched the videos are jittery and over pixelated, the color reproduction is far from accurate and overall the software doesn't match the hardware. Even you said so the software needs work.. So how did DXOMark give it top marks with software like that. Looks great on paper but actual performance is not as good. Thanks Ben for a side to side comparison!
Xiaomi photos look much better than Samsungs. The photos look close to a mirrorless or small point and shoot.
Now this is what I wanna see. Does no.1 rank of Magic 5 Pro on DXOmark really matter. Tnx Ben for this content!
Early
Honors audio at 10x zoom is the audio zoom feature. Probably can be deactivated or should be deactivatable in settings.
Samsung Galaxy s23 Ultra by default is also doing that btw.
Also I did not get the video part as zoom buttons are available on Honor aswell to switch directly. Why Honor only allows switching between front and back cams on Honor 70 and not the flagships is really really odd.
Can't wait for the Oppo find X6Pro to come out.
That's gonna be a mighty fine shootout video against other ultra/pro phones.
Great camera comparison. There's no clear winner here, if I had to choose one I would probably just go for the cheapest one
Welcome to Thailand 🎉🎉
But you don't have to take a photo, if the camera says to shot with night mode on the S23 Ultra.
Hit the half moon shape off, and you'll get a great shot with no lag in shutter.
Welcome to Thailand ❤
Ben ignore the haters, you are the GOAT of these type of comparisons. I have a controversial opinion about the creamy bokeh at 7:59, for shots of people I think the bokeh enhances the shot, but for shots of things I often end up thinking that the bokeh is just missed focus. I wonder if this is due to the fact that the bokeh effect we see on phones is a mix of natural and software whereas on DSLR Cameras it's all natural. I
Either way my eye is drawn to the crispness of the S23 Ultra shot. Thanks for all your hard work in making these videos. Could you include a comparison of moving animals or people in your next comparison? It's the one thing I think is letting my S23 Ultra down, I just can't get a good shot of a dog or person walking etc....
It's only software when using portrait mode, otherwise it's from the lens.
But sometimes the lens isn't fully optimised and you may get shallow focus planes or distorted edges etc .
