  • It’s NBA Finals time! On this week’s episode we preview the upcoming series between the Dallas Mavericks (Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving) and the Boston Celtics (Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown), discuss which players could be the x-factors, and which star will ultimately have the best series. We also breakdown RJ’s debate with Rasheed Wallace on who would win in a seven game series: 2017 Golden State Warriors or the 2004 Detroit Pistons. This was a fun one. Let’s go!

The "Tatum over Luka" thing is so overplayed. Tatum is a better on-ball defender, off-ball defender, screener, weak-side roller, rebounder, at-rim driver, and catch-and-shoot player. Luka has a better handle, better pull-up, better float game, better lob game, and better skip-pass court vision.
The former has a lot more value on a loaded team than the latter, and the former "wins the matchup" by being a plus on defense.
At this point, seeing what I've seen, I think I take JB over Luka too. Tatum can guard 2-5 reliably and Brown can guard 1-4 reliably. Luka can guard the weakest of the 2-4 matchups. This series, that isn't good enough.
Out of these players, Kyrie is the 4th best, and at this point looks less valuable than Jrue so maybe 5th. Let's not talk about him like he's 2nd vying for 1st.

It’s great how everyone rewrites history…. 2004 NBA Finals wasn’t Pistons winning it… it was Kobe sabotaging his own team by refusing to feed the ball to Shaq. He wanted to win as the best player… and he couldn’t. But if he would have feed Shaq, who the Pistons couldn’t guard, the Lakers would have easily won. I’ll never forgive Kobe for costing my team a championship… all that being said RIP Kobe

Y'all are entertaining and all, but for ex nba players your analysis is laughably bad. Richard say he'll put Kyrie on Pritchard(who might play under 10 minutes per game), luckily for Rich, Channing followed up with an even bigger bullshit, "I'd put Kyrie on Tatum". Crazy stuff. Pure yappers

RJ's point on how Steph and Durant were in conversation for the best players in the world when their roster was loaded, Steph had already won a championship before Durant and KD had already made his case for being a top 3 player in the league when he joined the Warriors. They had separate individual success and then won 72 (!!!) games together. Comparing that to Brown and Tatum isn't apples to apples. We've never seen Tatum see as much individual or team success as either Steph or KD before they joined, with rosters that, as Channing said, have always been able to compete for Finals appearances.
Is Tatum a great player? Sure. Is it fair to dock him for not breaking through already? Probably not. But he was dealt a great hand from the jump, and top 5 players in the world are expected to win with great hands. His roster has been the best in the league for the last two seasons and got better this year. There's no reason he shouldn't hold the trophy this year unless he and the rest of the team crap their pants.
It's big brother syndrome, which can be frustrating (I know first hand). If you win a game against your younger brother, no big deal, you're older, (hopefully) stronger and (hopefully) wiser and SHOULD win. If you LOSE? Humiliations galore. Frontline news. It sucks for him, but he's also the big brother and thus has everything he needs to beat his little brother and avoid humiliation - he just needs to do it. And do it again. And again.
    Go Mavs.

I'm Dallas fun but how the f Milwaukee and Washington did make a super team Washington give them arguably the best player Porzingis and stay with who, Milwaukee idiots second best player in Dru for older Dame why what's the reasoning behind that stupidity and they already have Pritchard most underrated player in NBA and the result is a super team vs who just 2 stars one injured, when they closed Indiana without a problem such a good at least 3 all stars next year team 😢Dallas why u where playing F Powell at center since Doncik come over why so soon let go Porzingis injury was the problem not his game, Brunson the same no reason, instead learning from Boston,LA Lakers, KLIPERS u just adding a players to the team who lost in the final of the Western Conference no man they dismantle the team and hope Luka will Cary g league players and the result of that caring the team no playoff and he's beat up brocken this year and I'm hearing Kai Lively c'mon Kai yup he's slowly coming back but the other side have Kai and double that in players and in team who every year is closer just adding one or two players Not get rid of them KUBAN now Dallas would have Brunson and Porz that's all, nobody would be even close to DALLAS 98%Boston Wining the series I'm not wrong I have screen shots talking about Denver and saying that this year Jokic can't do it with Murray hurt no new blood scoring so it's up to u but when series end and will be like Indiana comment this I will never write another NBA comment anymore

The mental gymnastics everyone is doing is hilarious. What does playing a 50 win team going to prove? The regular season stats/win-loss record means NOTHING in the playoffs. ALOT of you in these comments really don't understand basketball and it shows. The media knows Boston is going to win, but they have to pump up the mavericks so they have something to talk about. Boston is going to win comfortably in 5 or 6 game's and then everyone is going to come up with a multitude of excuses as to why the mavericks didn't win

Jayson Tatum.... First of all I would take him over all the dudes that people call the best player in the world.
Consistency with coaching. They've had three coaches in 3 years. Because one of them decided to do something foul in Mazzula was put in as the coach 3 weeks before the season started.
But I would not pick whoever yall call the best player in the world over Jayson Tatum.

I think people undervalue being the best player on your team. Kyrie has NEVER been the best player on a team that's done anything. Kyrie is special too, one of the greatest ever and super clutch. But tatum just averaged 30 10 and 5, led his team in every stat 😂😂😂 kyrie is a scorer and that's about it..

I’m ngl idgaf about Jefferson’s opinion on historic teams vs recent teams
All these dudes ever do is because “I played both” they go with the younger guys due to recency bias
If you’re giving the warriors the benefit of the doubt of “their offense” why are you not giving the botd to one of the most dominant defensive teams ever to exist in stopping at minimum Steph and klay then making KD score 50 every night because RECENCY bias say he can’t do it I just seen the jays take away his second and third option and dude got swept because he’s not a real 1 option that can win a big game

Y’all didn’t factor in the rebounding advantage for Pistons though. Not saying it would change outcome 100%, but imagine Ben Wallace rebounding over them lol. He could bench press more than that entire team put together.

Imagine if kyrie hadn’t been on a buncha bs the last few years man. So glad he finally understands his “place” in the world and how the world acts so we can see him cook unimpeded. Now he’s running off-ball Steph patterns too. Next 3 years are gonna be special for him.

This is how basketball discourse should be. Lets stop pretending schemes and roster makeup doesn't play a factor. Both the Pistons and Warriors were great in their era. The Pistons schemes would look dated and they would fall behind, not due to talent, but rather a relatively poor roster makeup for the current understanding of the game.

I've always thought Jalen Brown was better than Jason Tatum. I was even hoping Houston would have traded James Harden to Boston and got Jalen Brown in return. I was also pushing for Houston to get Jimmy Butler.
