1:49 I think Rena just suddenly remembered the past fragments for a while.. because of Rika.. (You get it if you have watched Higurashi Sotsu (2021), the same effect as Keiichi's remembrance of Onikakushi-hen) Even if this was a perfect world, the characters possibly can be able to remember at least of previous fragments. Like a sudden 'deja vu' or something.. So Rena was like, "Dismemberment murder seems so familiar"
Or maybe, in this timeline, she has still killed and dismembered somebody at some point (as she is wont to do) and Rika mentioning something like that made her think she had been found out for a split second.
@@BrokVoekler If she does, that arc would be more interesting though.. Also, I think the "trigger" of the dismemberment murder has been stored already in her memory for a long time because of Rika's influence, or maybe it's because of the fact that it's associated with her past trauma, as the culprits there had the same case/syndrome as what she had experienced.
@@yuukilei5217 Thanks. I'll admit I sort of already knew that. I was just confused why you said she could remember an event from a past timeline if this was an alternate world.
@@crazyfun95 what? no, this is from Rei, where Rika is in an alternate "perfect" universe. I still don't know why they made Rena freak out like that, though.
@@MiiChanx Yeah, I know it's from Rei, but wasn't the Hinamizawa syndrome active then too, but because Rika is not the reincarnation of Oyashiro-sama, but her mom is in this world (since her mom is still alive), she might have experienced a L3 symptom of the syndrome (thus Rena's creepy expression). And that's why she said "It can't be" because she was immune to the syndrome in the other worlds, her mother being dead and all. And that scene probably led her to realize she isn't the Furude head anymore. That's a theory though, since I don't remember if she already knew she was not Oyashiro-sama's reincarnation anymore. And I don't remember if the syndrome still existed in this perfect world.
You don't need Hinamizawa Syndrome to hallucinate, the speed with which Rika snapped out of the hallucination makes me think she was probably just stressed out and hallucinated in a "normal" way
Wait, I remember watching this, but I forgot about this scene! Since in this world, Rika isn't the queen carrier, does that mean her seeing Rena snap like that was a symptom of the Hinamizawa syndrome awakening in her?
I doubt it. It's supposed to be a perfect world, and none of the club members (Keiichi, Rena and Satoko) succumbed to it. She probably assumed Rena would snap at her (because she ends up killing Rina most of the times), or she probably "peeked" into a world or something for an instant.
@@loren5432 Yeah, but I doubt the syndrome doesn't exist in the new perfect world. It's just that since it's a perfect world, no one got stressed enough to fall under the symptoms of it. So Rika, being in this new world and having this strange and lowkey stressful experience, may have triggered a symptom. I should go back and watch it to see this scene in context.
@@crazyfun95 I dunno how the syndrome works if you know about it. But I always thought that being paranoid about your surroundings is what triggered it (hence why people go berserk once they hit stage 5). Rika wasn't paranoid, just stressed. @@crazyfun95 Rika wasn't the Queen Carrier in this perfect world but her mom is hence why Rika is force to kill her mom to get back to his established happy world... I prefer to believe that it was just a dream according to Hanyuu but this is Higurashi so it pains even more for Rika-chan do suffer like that again
@@alexiscando5709 Actually, Rika realized that world WAS real and that she actually did kill her mother there, but Hanyuu tells her that since Rika isn't in that other world anymore, it shouldn't exist to her, making it a dream. If she had stayed in the perfect world, the other world would've been the dream. Hanyuu tells Rika that in order to show her that she should abandon the responsibility of viewing all of the worlds, since that's for a God to do, and Rika is a mortal. So Rika decides to live on as Rika, and not as Frederica Bernkastel.
Hmm was it like this in the visual novel too? That spooky Rena scene was so out of place since this is a world where no tragedies occurred. It's a relatively peaceful world but Rika (the one we know and love) doesn't belong here since it's not the world she fought for and everything is just too different like the original Rika of this world is quite spoiled, a lot of people never moved to Hinamizawa and Satoko hates Rika.
Funnily enough Rena purposely does this voice and personality to appear friendly even when she isn’t under the effect of the syndrome as a coping mechanism for her past traumas
Before watching this anime, I knew a few things, it's a cutesy anime and the cute girls would be horrific killers and it's based on a visual novel. I at this point had no idea who the characters in the popular clip of the purple haired girl hitting the blonde girl with a chair were. Or the green haired girl laughing maniacally who apparently had an identical twin. I wanted to avoid it because I thought it would make me feel icky(like how one particular Yandere anime did that I don't wanna talk about) or because I just didn't wanna watch it due to lack of motivation to do so but then when I forgot about the icky feeling for a little while and was desperate for something to watch after Madoka Magica and Mashle(I have a binge-watching problem), I invested myself to this show and I don't regret one little bit(except for the occasional dirty humor, those always make me feel frustrated).
