Got the game, 14 page rule book that's very complicated, I almost lost interest until i watched this and your follow through video. This is certainly a game that makes a lot more sense when you see it played rather than when you try to read the rules!! Anyone else looking at this, skim through the rulebook, to get the gist of whats what, setup the board and watch this and play a round or two by yourself to learn it. You will need to dedicate around 2-3 hours to read the book and play a couple of rounds with this video.
Glad to see you're watching :) Perhaps you're right, either way it's a very minor complaint. BTW I think you have a real gem here. The game seems to have that special thing about where the theme shines through the mechanics so well. Nothing hurts that feeling more than when you find somethng ambigous or not streamlined so I hope you'll put every effort behind it This looks to me like a game that could win some prizes! (PS Looking forward to getting my copy of Alliances :) )
The track to place unemployed workers is not very intuitive... I understand half is for white collars and the other half is for blue... but really it could just be 2 seperate tracks. (I think) Right now... at first glance, it looks like it a sort of positive negative scale... I guess you probably understand quickly how it works but... not from just looking at it.
Hey there, I've just bought City Council on tour review and recommendation, but I've been trying to find clarification on 'specialist workers'. I don't really understand how they work. Is it basically just an extra worker you need? How do the workers become specialist? Hopefully I'm not too late to catch the comments here!
On a building tile, some are activated by using a specialist worker, which has a symbol of a worker with a cog wheel next to it. In the rule book it mentions 'specialist workers' and talks about the pilots in the airport (A confusing tile..) Do they just mean that the workers are special because you can choose how to use them?
ok, thanks! So with the Airport for example, do you assign one white collar worker AND another worker of your choice, or you just choose between the options?
+Graham Haslett there's actually a whole thread on boardgamegeek devotes to this, with posts from the designer, here: boardgamegeek.com/article/20393044#20393044 but to use the airport you have to assign at least 3 guys (pilot plus one of the two flights) though you could assign 5 guys (pilot plus both flights)
it is very powerful, but i wouldn't say too powerful, because you can't hold on to the role for more than 2 rounds, so every third round a new player will get the roll, and since this game is all about negotiation, whoever makes the best offer can get it. in a negotiation game, it's a GOOD thing that some things are better than others. if everything was exactly the same, there'd be less to bargain with and for :)

It is less confusing for making the "City Committees" phase.
When it is just A and B it is clear to see and makes it (actually) more intuitive.
Glad to see you're watching :)

Thanks a lot for the kind words!
that would actually be a great name for a discount airline company
Haven't backed any board games since Fleet this summer... but this one looks pretty good... I'm seriously considering it :)
hey this is awesome... i can just sit back and let elad answer the questions! :)
"Budjet!"
The player who activates the building.

So the Diner doesn't count as a restaurant... it has to say "Restaurent" on the tile?
You got Jammed!!
Who gets the choose which "way" the depot produces?
@36:45 Should Jamm have earmarked/embezzeled $1 this turn?
you're right! he should. we've been JAMMED! :) (note added, thanks for catching it)

+Graham Haslett where does the 'specialist worker' term come from?

+Graham Haslett yeah, that's just a reference to the fact that they have a special role in the function of that building. nothing more :)

Election Committee is way too OP. Goes first, Breaks Ties AND chooses where to place buildings. Way too strong.

Man what a great point.
Why not have 3 spots for the commities rather than "off" and A and B spots...
Why not just have A B and C spots?... seems a bit clunky
Budjet? I think these guys need to use spellcheck :/
lol
