Tracy was/is gorgeous. Am hooked on Classic Corrie (I now realise why my Mum liked it so much at the time), and they recently got round to this episode. I do wish I hadn't read some weeks earlier that her character would be killed off; it spoilt the surprise. What I can't understand is how her Corrie husband, Steven Arnold (Ashley), ever got a job on the show - I can hardly understand a thing he says with his squeaky voice and failure to enounce words clearly.
He was hired in the first place as a guest character because John Savident (Fred) was being a bit of a luvvy and telling the director he wasn't really feeling the butchers shop scenes they had been rehearsing, which he thought was affecting his performance, and that he needed someone to 'bounce' off in order to do the scenes well, and they decided to endulge John and get a support actor in to be Fred's assistant in the shop. Because Fred was a big outgoing man with a booming voice, I say a booming voice, they made Ashley small and shy and gave him a quieter squeaky voice, all as a counterpoint to Fred. At the time they probably didn't anticipate that Ashley would become a full time character and last several years.
They just showed this on ITV3 today. Great stuff back then, I’m depressed thinking how terrible Corrie is these days

It's not that bad Emmerdale is far worse and EastEnders has only recently started to get better aside from the boring Ben & Callum stuff.
If only maxine had stayed at the party she would still be alive now ha ha

You know that's not his real voice, it was created as part of Ashley's character. If you listen to Steven speak normally he doesn't sound like that.

Tv really fell off a cliff post 2016! It's unwatchable these days, even Loose Women is insufferable
