We had the privilege of visiting Germany a few years ago and it was STUNNING. I have videos from Rothenburg Ob Der Tauber, Bamber and Cochem that never got edited lol. We adored it. The people all reminded me of my grandmother on my mother’s side. So kind and welcoming but also straight and to the point. LOVED IT!

Your place is a jewel box full of treasures and I love the way you decorated and adapted to “hang” artwork, especially the fabric. Also love all the nick-nacks. The view from the loft looks beautiful too. Nicely done finding such a gem.

Kimball ALWAYS finds us the best places to live. He legit has found every home and apartment we’ve lived in for the past 15 years. Our realtors always just show us the homes we ask to see lmao. Very grateful to Kimmy for that. 🥰
The skylight is really up high and in a rather precarious place to put a ladder so we’ve just ignored it. It would be fun to have that window film on though! Do invest in one of those weird contorting ladders now? Do we need MORE things?!?! 🧐🦄🌈

That’s a great idea about the color changing bulbs! We used to have this in our Portland condo and loved it. I don’t know why we haven’t done it here, but will definitely be on my mind now 🧐
We have a gel over our living room light that makes it a pink color. I don’t think you can really see it in the video. It’s basically one of those silicone toppers you put on jars to keep the contents fresh and we just wrapped it around the bulb 😂. We are the pique of elegance in these parts.

Lately we’ve been watching a Disney show called Ravens home. We also started watching Acolyte. But mostly we watch RUclips channels of people living their lives. There’s one called “dreaming of a chateau” where this woman, Ala, films a new video every day of her and her husband renovating their home in lake Como. Before that, we used to watch a lot of Asian BL shows. And we have cycled through Golden Girls, Frazier, Will and Grace and Miranda many times. What about you?

Oh dear, now you've done it: Suggestion for you, Casilin linnen duvet covers. Got four of them myself, white, sand, smoke green and terracotta. Not the cheapest of covers, think about 350-650 per, depending on the size. It is the best you can find. Oh, and yeah, my vice is linnen, the only material that produces a nice restful sleep. Another oh, the size I have is 240×220(250 cm in reality) in the four available covers.
They do cotton too, just that isn't my thing.😊

So glad you enjoyed our little tour. The PS5 and Switch. So, this is interesting. I used to play a lot of games. In order to find time to do this channel, I made the decision to give up gaming for now. This has freed up a few hours each day for me to get the editing done for the channel. I think the only way I’d really be able to play games again is if RUclips became my full time gig. That would definitely give me enough time for both. But I don’t know if that’s even realistic so we’ll just wait and see.
It’s been fine though and I have had great joy from the channel as well.
I was playing Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom most recently. Are you a gamer?
I also have a PS5 and Switch, and I too have cut my game time down because of a new hobby. But I still try to squeeze an hour or two in here and there. On Switch I'm waddling through Red Dead Redemption mixed with a little Balatro. PS5 has Spider-Man 2 idling patiently.
I would call myself a gamer because I love games. But I wouldn't call myself a gamer because I am not good at gaming. 😂
@@DJispretty this is a good point, that being a gamer is about the enjoyment vs the skill level. Red Dead Redemption was a stunning game. There was also a way to get drunk near some north cliff faces on the west side of the map and break outside the boundaries of the game that provided days and days of fun. At one point Kimball was like, “So, do you plan to ever actually FINISH the game or?”
May I ask what the new hobby is that you took up in place of gaming? You’ve got me curious 😁

@@RockyandKimball Last summer, a video about making a blanket was recommended by RUclips. Little did I know that little hit led to my yarn addiction. So now I crochet. I never imagined I would have two hobbies that are social opposites. Gaming is mainly perceived to be a young guy's follie, while crochet is viewed as a pass time for old ladies. (Although I do believe that both genres are becoming inclusive of broader demographics in the past couple of years, which I find very exciting.)
I'm going to make a little show and tell type video later today. Do you have a quick or standard tip for filming or editing?
@@DJispretty oh how fun! Kimball and I got into the crochet vibe via 2001 when we were living in Santa Clarita. That Christmas we didn’t have money for presents, so we made over 20 custom scarves for friends. Then we never picked up a crochet needle again lol. I guess we got it out of our system.
My only tips for filming would be:
- if the room doesn’t have good natural light, get a lamp and put it in front of you and have it slightly elevated above head level by a few feet.
- if it’s for RUclips, prep a little bit of an opener of what the video is about and say that first. Then just be yourself and enjoy the time you’re filming.
- Film b-roll of any relevant clips that help illustrate what you’re going to be talking about. For instance, if you’re talking about the texture of the yarn or the way the stitch comes together, film some close up clips of those items and overlay them into to the video at those moments.
- For editing, I don’t know for sure what program you’re using, but would make sure there aren’t any long pauses. Cut out anything that causes you to lose interest. Things like that. It helps to step back and pretend you’re not you, and that you’re watching this video for the first time. It helps you make decisions about what to include.
I could probably go on for days but I’ll leave it here. Good luck and let me know if the video is ever available. 🥰

I had a dishwasher in a previous apt which I never used. I was single at the time, and did not have enough dishes, mugs, glassware and flatware to justify running it!! Washing everything by hand definitely saved electricity but probably not water...
I enjoy eating kimchee and buy it from the Korean lady at a nearby farmers market. She makes it herself, good probiotics...

But I do have a comment: UK homes are generally much smaller than in the US. Unless you live in a mansion, great house, manor house or castle. IMO, you have a spacious home by UK standards. It's great!!

@RockyandKimball I'm not sure if I collect things, or if they attach themselves to me. It could be as simple as a red leaf in autumn, an acorn, or a small rock in a stream which catches my eye. I'm a collector, I guess.

26 Years together? Were you five years old when you got together? I lived in Thatcham, Berks for 4 years and yes the long summer days can get hot. The sun beats down on the West wall of the uninsulated concrete block walls and those Western facing room stay hot till late into the night. We actually had a box fan to stick in the window and provide some circulation. Most locals at the time (1980s) did not have fans. We also used a hose outdoors to water flowers and had to pay the hosepipe tax. You have made your apartment very nice. Enjoy the great English country.

@@RockyandKimball Yes, I just discovered your videos so I will have to take a look back at some of the previous ones. I was in the US Air Force (even before don't ask don't tell) for many years. The tour in England was at RAF Greenham Common near Thatcham. I ran the air traffic radar maintenance shop that maintained the radar unit that was used to land the Soviet inspection aircraft. The Soviets made unannounced inspection visits once a quarter to ensure that the USAF was keeping our part of the bargain to eliminate ground launched cruise missiles. Long story short, it was a great assignment of four years ending with the complete closure of the base in 1992. We made wonderful English friends and enjoyed our time there. I personally loved the people, the history and even the weather. Weird I know, but I do not dislike cloudy rainy or misty days. It was quite a shock learning to drive there after taking their rather lengthy examination. When I returned to the states it was second nature to leave a parking spot or such and pull out into the left side of the road. However, getting accustomed to driving in Kansas was much quicker and safer than the first few weeks of driving in England. I look forward to seeing more videos. Take Care
@@jeffsmith846 Oh wow! What an interesting assignment. It’s fascinating that they had a radar for landing Soviet aircraft. I could imagine it being tense every time they arrived for inspections but maybe it was different in reality.
The driving test here was VERY intense and frustrating. SO grateful to have my license though and not have to stress about it.

Air fryers are SUPER useful. Kimball and I haven’t used our oven since we moved in to this apartment two years ago. It’s great for cooking fish and everything really. They also use less energy and keep cost of cooking way down. Just love them. 👨❤️💋👨

I can definitely appreciate the POV of cluttered. For sure our style is not for everyone. We watch so many vlogs where people have very simple decore and very minimalistic approaches to design. Whenever we’ve tried this, we weren’t happy in our space so we changed it up. I think that’s the amazing thing about a home - that you can make it a place that makes you happy regardless of what the outside world thinks.
Also, we lost half the square footage we were used to when we moved to England lol. We have some additional downsizing to do over the next year when we have the time.

Awesome video!!! It's inspiring me to add some color to my apartment.. I have never tried it but a long time ago, I read that you could dip fabric(bed sheets to cover large areas) into Laundry Starch. Then apply it to your walls like wallpaper, then when you want to change the look, or move, or whatever. It just peels right off( when dry) not damaging the walls. Maybe try it in a video?

Yes it’s definitely an eyesore at first but we’re so used to it now and we use it every day. So we can live longer and spend more time staring at the hideous corner where our treadmill lives.

I would say we were both fairly tidy teenagers. Although, when I met Kimball, his bed was on the floor and he had painted original art all over his walls and stuck random posters around 🤣
But even then, we liked cozy vibes. Whenever we’re in large open rooms, we just feel vulnerable or like there’s too much to clean and it’s awkward to place furniture. Fortunately, being in Europe, most places are cozy, to say the least 🙃
