    I love these videos! It's really educating to actually see how you do street photography, and also the way you explain your settings and why you frame shots in different ways. Have you considered doing one of these videos with a 35mm prime lens?
    If I've understood the crop factor of aps-c cameras correctly then that should be as close to the "nifty-fifty" lenses of full frame cameras, it would be cool to see what you could do with that :)

    • @TomsJurjaks
      @TomsJurjaks  2 года назад

      Hey Filip and thanks a lot for the kind comment. I actually shot a video with my A7IV and Viltrox 35mm the same day when I was making this video and now I am editing it. It should be out end of next week so stay tuned :)
      And to answer your question - not really. The 50mm lens on Full Frame is still 50mm focal length. But the 50mm lens on APS-C camera is 50x1.53=76.5mm to round it up - its like an 80mm lens.
      Its not the lenses that determine the focal length - its the cameras sensor. So the same nifty-fifty (50mm lens) will still be the same lens no matter where you use it, but the focal length will be different. 50mm lens will be more "zoomed in" on apsc camera than it is on Full Frame. Google for Crop Factor Calculator by omni calculator. Its amazing to play around with it and see what lens gives you what kind of focal length :)

    hmm still using the a6000 as I see.I thought picking one up myself as my first camera is it still a good choice in 2022 for beginners or is it better to go for a 6400 and less lenses because of the budget?

    • @thatwolffe3802
      @thatwolffe3802 2 года назад +4

      I just picked up a Sony a6000 used on ebay and have been using it for about a month, I was the same couldn't decide if I should get this or the 6400, switching from my old Canon 5D II and 700D setup I found I actually prefer how the photos look in the A6000 and the size is so much more convenient.
      Honestly the A6000 is still the best camera for the price, although I would say after also trying out an A6400 and A6100, if you can afford it go for one of those, there is a few quality of life improvements that make them slightly better.
      However saying that there is no reason you can't still use the A6000 for even pro level photography.

    • @TomsJurjaks
      @TomsJurjaks  2 года назад +6

      Even though I have the A7IV and also the A6400, I still very much enjoy using A6000. To answer your question, if you only wanna do photography, I think A6100 or ZV-E10 will be a good upgrade over A6000 but A6000 is still good if you have nice lenses. Hey Jacqueline. Thanks a lot! I would say iPhone 14 Pro is a great choice for very casual shooting (if you can get Pro over the regular model). However, for some its the process and I believe phones will not get that amazing real bokeh the cameras can produce with prime lenses. If you just wanna shoot casually, then iPhone will be decent for sure.

On top of that a phone holder (that is usually used for tripods). Then my phone in the phone holder. • @TomsJurjaks
      @TomsJurjaks  2 года назад +1

      Hey buddy, I think the 50mm would be better, perhaps 85mm on crop sensor is a bit too much. On the other hand, 35 and 50 is kind of close to each other. Usually something like 20/24mm and then 50/56mm is a good option for apsc. Btw check Sigma 56mm f1.4. Thats an amazing one for Sony a6000. There definitely is. I would avoid the Sony 50mm FE because its just so poor. Build quality, cheapest plastic, AF is horrible (at least for my lens). Viltrox is fully metal built, high quality, AF is okay (not as good as Sigma or Sony GM of course) and Viltrox has an aperture ring which I really like. All in all, good lens for the price.

      @@TomsJurjaks I was shooting film before I found your channel 😉 and got myself an a6000 and an adaptor for my Konica lenses.
      Those konica primes lenses are so darn cheap you can pick up 2 lenses for under or near €100 and the quality is incredibly good.
      But the one issue I have when shooting with a 135mm or a telephoto lens is handling the weight. The a6000 body is so light the lens is a tank so 8/10 images are blurry. So seeing as you were my route into digital photography, I just shoot street photography mostly. But how do you handle a heavy lens on a busy street with no stabilisation? With a steady hand I guess haha.
      But would be cool to see if a vintage lens changes your style or not.
      The konica 40mm pancake lens is currently my favourite

    • @TomsJurjaks
      @TomsJurjaks  2 года назад

      So cool what you are doing @@hobochild39 I think I just crank up the shutter speed to be more in line with the lens I use to avoid blurry photos? If you use a 135mm on A6000, then thats something like almost 200mm equivalent on full frame, which means your shutter speed needs to be AT LEAST double of the focal length, which is 2x200 = 1/400 (as a minimum). To be safe, I would go with 1/500 and up. I know its a bit of math you need to do, but you get used to it.
