Great video. I have a number of your pattern books and this video makes me want to dig back into them and do a couple of carvings. Learned some new techniques and the use of some different gouges than what I was using. Thanks.
If you do look back in my books, come with a fresher mind as I may have had back when I created those books. The patterns are still good, some of the step-by-step may be rusty, but see these steps will a mind that is yours.
#9 is referring to the shape of the gouge as looking at the end. Then there are varying widths of the same “shape” Google “gouge shapes” and find a chart describing shapes It can be confusing at first 👍🏼 7:14
This is difficult to express the number of the chisel, mostly to the beginner as well as those more advanced. Later, I will discuss and show how to see the shape of the tool as appose to the nomenclature of that tool. In the meantime, go to whittlingshack.com and ask Chris Whillock to send you his Stubi brochure that has the shape of each tool according to its definition.
Great video, thanks for sharing this. I’m looking forward to tying one 😊
Your style continues to evolve. I like it!
I appreciate that!
Thank you for taking the time to show how you carve the Santa face 👍👍👍👍🍺😎
Glad you enjoyed it

AMAZING simply AMAZING.
Wow, thank you!
Being new to carving I don’t understand how you have say a #9 gouge but are different widths or sizes. Be nice if that was explained
