ummm 99% of all titles In history before 2010 were won with an elite bigman. One of the things that get's forgotten about KD's historic freshman season at UT, is the help from his PG, DJ Augustine, who's had a 14 year NBA career that is still active. Having a PG that can feed you like that made it easier for KD to be able to dominate.
