He's spear so he's ranged melee hero. He can also shoot magic so he's balanced. The sword hero (Sasuke) is the close combat offensive hero.
All 3 end up weaker than naofumi combined
After this arc they talk about how the lvl isnt as good as having actual combat experience.
What really holds the other heroes back is that they just feel like all of these battles are just like video games. Reality hasn't...quite hit them yet.

I was also VERY pissed, this show is amazing. I feel genuine emotions.
I like how the shield hero carries orange balloons on him like a madman. I love those little guys.
I like the to imagine he's so used to them being there, he forgets about them being there xD, since he doesn't feel them biting
You would think that it would even feel a little bit like a massage if you don't take damage from it.
His Defense is so high he would more likely feel a random itch in his body that those little balloons. XD
I have not read the light novel or the manga, But I would like to imagine that he keeps them for so long that eventually he just has balloons in his inventory just in case.

@@arcanehero1247 For all they know it was the Spear hero who outclassed him in a pinch. It also doesn't help that they are rooting against Naofumi which makes them less likely to look into any unfortunate 'accidents'.
It's not in this clip, but later Ren mentions how he looked at the king and could tell he told the audiance to keep quiet when Myne cheated.

In my opinion he's too stupid to ever be popular as a main character. Even though he is all those things there's absolutely no depth, he'd never be written in.
@@nihility. The lack of depth is mostly due to lack of screen time. His entire screen time added up would make only 1 or 2 episodes of a standard show, and he's had no screen time where he's not being used to develop _other_ characters or further the plot.
Character depth comes with the time it takes to develop it, and he's been given no time at all (mostly because this isn't his show).

I just realized something about the other heroes
They dont use strategies or tactics like Naofumi does, Naofumi shows a lot of knowledge when it comes to using his skills with his shield, being able to use it offensively
The others just brute force it with just the Chaos and Lightning skills like a bunch of idiots
That get the job done for them tho . For example spear hero DPS doesn't need much except some well timed buffs from other and heal to work while naofumi must manage many things together to be effective

The web Novel is Complete I highly suggest reading it because the comeuppance is very VERY unlikly to be properly adapted
It's extreamly satisfying as well the manga by comparison is extremely light hearted and starts to divert around Chapter 17ish i think?

I find it funny the Shield Hero is just casually going around with balloon monsters gnawing at him. I guess his defense is high enough to not feel them lol.
He actually pointed that out pretty explicitly in Episode 1. He didn't feel them at all.
I just love the Balloons, they're just a really try-hard ball that can't do shit to ShieldBro, but try their best anyway. Of course, I love it even more when he weaponizes them. They're just the best.
Maybe biting is their way of showing affection, and they cling to naofumi because he does not feel their bites, and thus doesn't kill them. The balloons be looking for love too
What's pretty good is that Motoyasu, despite being lvl 41, can still get hurt by them while Naofumi was already immune at lvl 1

The level of detail in this show is astounding. If you notice at 0:01, Mein has full magic, shown in her yellow bar but at 2:19, it is depleted a bit from her attack.

He wasn't expecting a fight at all since he thought Naofumi can't attack. Beside Shield had less level than him at the time. He lost because Naofumi is smart and Motoyuso (i think it's his name, but not sure) is a dumb person

The cardinal heroes cannot wield any weapon other than the one they're named for. Physically can't. Offering Naofumi a weapon would've been a waste of time.

The writers did a fantastic job expressing and transporting Naofumi's anger, hatred and overall situation.
Watching this scene and the following humiliation i could feel the anger, his anger rising withing me.
I seriously loved the fight. He used dirty tricks but he won even though Myne interfered. But what makes this episode wholesome is how Raphtalia just holds him at the end...it was enough to make me cry
How about leaving Malty by herself (alone) in the infinite Labyrinth for a few years to keep her from making more trouble for others!

Just like nobody has any sense of justice and righteousness which is utterly impossible. Of this decade...no. There are so many overhyped anime that dont come close to the level of polish that bnha has. Shows like black clover "the next great shounen" as well as Darling in the franxx just came out this year.

This episode was a rollercoaster of anger, sadness, and happiness till the very end.
Its funny how he says "Fight me Fair and Square" when that fight wasn't fair at all, I mean Naofumi is extremely weak attacking and can only use defensive skills(for now), not only that but the spear hero has a decent defense plus an offensive power that is off the charts when it comes to skills, and if all of that was not enough his Equipment is 10 times better than Naofumi's and he is 20 levels higher. Idk how many of you have played RPGs before but let me tell you that winning against an opponent 20 levels higher than you is almost impossible unless you are lucky and a pro at the game, because his stats, equipment, boosts and skills are much higher than you (imagine your strongest skill deals 2000 DPS, then a guy 20 levels higher probably has a skill that deals 10,000 DPS) and on top of that Naofumi won with only defensive skills, I was honestly impressed when I read this in the manga
The rule of the duel is not to drain the opponent's health bar but only to pin him down. Even being 20 lvls down Naofumi held a legendary weapon so it's reasonable to say that he can effectively block most of Motoyasu's damage. Referring again to the rules of the duel, we can see that all Naofumi have to do is use his godly utility and cc to punish Motoyasu, and again this is no point and click MMO. Motoyasu's stats are shit if Naofumi blocks or dodges all of his attacks, and minor but not really a spoiler, but later it is said that the 3 heroes' combat skills are significantly inferior to the kingdom's best swordsman and of course, Naofumi's guild, as the Sword hero lost a cannot be more anticlimatic and predictable duel vs a swordswoman 10 lvls lower than him.
@@ryandoan1580 Combat Skills and stats are 2 different things, a trained knight wiped the floor with the sword hero in a little duel/training and pissed him off so much that he used a sword skill against her(read this part a long time ago), their skills are really strong its just that they are not trained and they put little effort into becoming stronger because of how arrogant they all are and because of that they would be pretty weak if it wasn't because of the skills that the legendary weapons have.(and even with skill they are really weak against the real threats)
Going back to the duel, if you put aside the weapons which are both legendary and stats, Naofumi right now is not trained and he doesn't have that much fighting experience but he does have great Defense against both physical and magical attacks, but if another hero 20 levels higher than him fights by only using the skills of a legendary weapon then its not gonna be a walk in the park for him.(its not like our MC is skilled enough right now to block and dodge all of Motoyasu's attacks) The 3 heroes are pretty weak considering they are "heroes", the only reason they are alive right now is because they have OP weapons, so don't focus on Motoyasu but rather on his spear and the skills it has, the only reason why Naofumi actually took some damage in this duel is because of the Spear skills and not the hero using them. My point is that Motoyasu himself is not strong, but his skills and stats are much stronger than Naofumi's.
Honestly if we’re talking about game logic, shield hero more closely resembles dark souls than a typical rpg. Where levels and equipment aren’t really important in terms of pvp. Yeah, they make you stronger. But if you can’t hit the guy or the dude just has more experience than you you’re going down.

From what I saw of the trailer, it's going to look quite nice this season.
I hope it is a good season, I just can't stand the level of filler in the novels anymore.
Personally, I didn’t like how the cheating was so blatantly obvious yet Mr. Lance Hero didn’t see it. I tend to prefer the manga, especially in this case, but I think it deserves a break. Yeah, the manga does many things better, but this isn’t bad per se since it seems many people can still enjoy this without much of an issue (and by enjoy I mean get pissed off, rightfully so).
Like the say later in the episode it was hard to see since it was wind magic and even if they did see it the king told everyone to keep quiet
Don't worry the sword and bow hero called Myne out in this version of the series while in the Manga or light novel they only said a party member casted the spell not mentioning Myne

@@taskmagician4289, do you really not understand that the main character was suddenly thrusted a few yards of his feet in an off-kilter direction and also screamed out against the Thot princess? The anime explained it, but the visuals certainly did not. They made it seem like the Spear Knight didn't know he was assisted.
The only way anyone could rationalise this is that Spear Knight was too busy with the balloon enemies that he didn't hear a thing and wasn't looking in Naofumi's direction, but even then wouldn't it be strange that Naofumi suddenly repositioned himself to Spear Knight's left? I still like the show, but this scene at least broke the suspension of disbelief.

At the begging of the fight Motaysasu says something along the lines of will the unbreakable shield or the the piercing spear win . When they clashed Naofumi replies with "the second your spear couldn't break my shield you be already lost" (something along the lines of that"
Used to think having a shield as a main weapon was lame but after watching the show having a shield is actually dope.

It shows how much of a difference cleverness and pragmatism can make in a fight. Props to Naofumi for using what he had intelligently instead of reusing brute force.
Yup , and this doesn't seem like a WOW type of gameplay but more like a Dark soul type were reactivity and quick thinking is more important than Op skills and Levels .

L0ST S0UL good point, if he had that, his Level would be somewhat higher, I would say 26 at least since he was taking some time, unlike the other 3, whose basically try hard grinder... also another reason they’re so high is that they had support meaning they can tackle tougher enemies faster... Naofumi only had Rapthalia with him and she was low level like him too.

this is why Naofumi is my favorite protagonist in any show when he gets called cowardly cheat and other insults he doesn't take the high road and rise above he leans into it if people are gonna call me underhanded might as well be underhanded
Idk about everyone else but this wombo combo hit so hard because we actually see his progress flourish because of his quick thinking that as us the watchers couldn’t come up with. We thought it was all over especially after they showed up the level difference.

It still amazes me that the other 2 heroes caught her interference but the spear hero is that dense it even notice it.
Small detail if you pause on motoyasus screen parts you can see that myne did almost all the damage to naufumi, actually had mana missing and that motoyasu took the same %of damage from the balloons that naufumi took from the spell
Love how the first chaos spear did basically zero damage to Naofumi even with a direct hit
