Adding/subtracting fractions is fifth grade math. It's one thing if it takes several seconds with the girl that solved it. It's another if you can't solve it at all like it appears with the other girl. Fractions come up in life. Adding/subtracting them is an actually useful and helpful skill to have. It's outside of the realm of "their own subject". It's similar to if someone didn't know how to use capital letters or read a bar graph, or any other elementary school level stuff.

@@kiyoko2525 if you've become aware that you've forgotten how to do something basic, maybe that's a good time to go refresh on it. Takes maybe 1-5 minutes to look at up. Fractions come up plenty in my life (my job, my kid's hw, cooking, board games). But even if I didn't use that skill much (such as knowing countries or states) I'm happy I do know it for whenever it is needed.

@lkjkhfggd I excel in trigonometry and algebra and chemistry (took them all for fun in college) and I still do REALLY bad with fractions. It's really shocking to people that this is my only weakness in math. Even if we learn it young, some things are not our strongsuit so don't judge
