This is probably the actual tipping point, killing Deimos probably solidified his rage to what inevitably came. I absolutely loved the story of this game and felt a sense of guilt when Deimos lost his life, but he went out in Spartan tradition, in glorious battle.

* His wife and children: Driven to madness and tricked into killing them
* His father: Beats the living daylights out of him until he stays dead
* His mother: Forced to kill her when she is transformed into a monster
* His siblings: While there are way too many because of Zeus' philanderings to kill, he has killed Athena, Ares, Hepheastus, Hermes, Hercules, Persephone, Perseus, Minos. Artemis and Apollo were lucky they didn't show up
* His aunts and uncles: Hestia and Demeter didn't show up, but Hades, Poseidon and Hera he killed.
* His grandparents: Brutally kills Cronus, who is his grandfather
* Other relatives: Many of the Titans were his granduncles and grandaunts. Thanatos and Erinys are distant relatives. Gaea was his great-grandmother

I got that same feeling when he says "Now is the time Kratos, the beginning of the end" it seems as if he realized that his Death would be the catalyst for the destruction of Olympus to come to pass, because it was after Kratos killed Thanatos that Zeus decided that Kratos had to go
This is god of wars version of Avengers endgame
He despises humanity and sadistically tortures Deimos even when he was an innocent child who didn't even realize he was being tortured when he had absolutely no right to do either of those things, especially to those who had committed no crime against him or didn't even know of his existence. One of the most satisfying kill in the series.
I gotta admit the Game Developers did a great job of making you feel Kratos' rage after Thanatos kills his Brother Deimos
So in destroying thanatos, kratos becomes the new personification of death. While the actual thanatos was fair and just and devoted to his duty, kratos has no intention of guiding souls to their eternal rest, which makes me wonder what happens to all the souls from here on. Also, it appears Aries was right, "Now with your wife and child dead, nothing can hold u back. U will become even stronger. U will become death itself"

If only the gods of Olympus let the "marked warrior" live on Kratos' side, Kratos would never have any more grudge against them. And he would serve Zeus well. But they let him die in Thanatos' hand and made Kratos' rage bigger than before.

He does kill hades but he couldn't spend time with his family because he still had to kill Zeus. That and he became a god after killing ares so he's already a god.
it's simply not possible. This game took place when Kratos has become the God of War, replacing Ares. So, any skirmish between gods were simply untolerate. Beside, if Kratos by any chance ambush Hades to steal his power, Zeus himself will come after him, just like in God of War 2 (which supposed to take place after this one)

I was always confused on why Kratos killing Thanatos didn’t stop the effects of death, like how in God of War III every time a god dies their godly power effects the world (Helios’ death=the sun is destroyed). But after rewatching this cutscene I finally understood it. The gravedigger saying that he has “become death, the destroyer of worlds” is him saying that Kratos has absorbed Thanatos’ godly powers and has now become the god of death. I always just assumed that line was for dramatic effect, and didn’t realize it had a double meaning. If this was obvious to everyone else, then I guess I’m just an idiot.
That's not it. It's because before the gods were born the elements were running rampant. After they were birthed and won the titan war each god took control of the elements. Zeus the sky, Poseidon the waters, etc etc.

Once thanathos' arm-armor is gone, you should use the normal attacks, not thera's bane
But enemies cant interrupt your combos with theras bane.

Even while playing through Ghost of Sparta Zeus as the grave digger warns him to stop cause he doesn't want the prophecy to be true but Kratos proceeds on his quest anyway.
One thing I dont get is. Why did they not kill kratos during this game? Like why is athena, Zeus etc only softly telling kratos to stop? Why not whoop his ass and kill him?

The gravedigger is Zeus and basically plot the whole story of ghost of Sparta. Think about he was digging a hole into hell at the oracle temple in Athens. He knew Kratos would die and he’ll need a way back . After he opened the box, fear consume Zeus. He knew kratos was a threat and want him dead. So Zeus decide to use kratos mother and brother to lure him to this adventure waiting for him to die along with the others. That’s why he was there at the end, digging. Also to mention at the end he said, “there’s one more” or something like.
