well before kratos killed whoever took cronos' soul, he was basically a mindless beast, and had no desire for anything including freedom. At least thats what i've heard people in the fandom say.

This was the only thing that the new God of Wars were missing. These massively huge boss fights. They had some epic battles, but nothing like these.

@@gwilkes5325 Character development doesnt mean they cant make the final fight actually interesting. The Kratos vs Thor fight was supposed to be a big show down that turned out worse than the intro fight, Thor did the same 5 moves over and over while you block a hammer, and it all takes place on Odins front porch. Odins fight was respectable with its variety but their take on Norse Mythologies Ragnarok is probably one of the most mundane ones I've ever seen.
Narnia had a better final battle than this.
If character development is all you care about they couldve easily had Kratos go back to Ghost of Sparta mode and save everyone from Ragnarok by fighting him.
@@griffin1182 all I care about? I brought it up once 😂 yeah, I agree that the final part where Ragnarok is just kinda... there, and the Thor fight was disappointing. However, interesting and 'Ghost of Sparta mode' aren't the same thing. idk how they could've done better, and they really could have, but having him kill, kill, kill, while interesting, is not what Kratos wants to do. Maybe this could've worked like he had to otherwise Atreus would die, but as I said idk
@@griffin1182 I think the problem is there weren't enough Norse Gods. Like Forseti should have been in the game physically, not just mentioned. And Vali and Ve, Odin's brother's should have been in it too. The Developers kind of wanted to skip a lot of ish. They rushed the ending.

This fight shows how strong Kratos's plot armor is. Cronos could easily wipe kratos out from his body just like what we humans do to ants climbing on our bodies
Obviously but this is fictional, and in the god of war series kratos is way stronger then cronos especially at this point in the 3rd game
I wouldn't call it plot armor. The difference between Kratos and an ant are much more than u think. Ants would just slowly crawl on your arm and you'd easily be able to kill it. Kratos would be running and being able to dodge every attack faster if the game was more realistic. Like how we have hard time killing flies.
@@grizzakaful yeah only if the game was more realistic. Cronos was chained for eternity yet he could destroy the chains by simply wiping his arm while kratos was running on it. With that, there could be more plot holes and illogical things that would happen around.

@@faded9581 to be fair it worked for zeuses entire childhood, years at least, and it was only him that allowed the other gods free, with no one wanting to help kratos at this point and knowing his stomach could hold dozens of gods for years he probably didnt think much of it, the truth is his mistake was thinking kratos as lowly as a god when kratos can do anything at all, even if he didnt eat him kratos was well on his way to breaking the nail thing in his tummy

God of war 1 2 and especially 3 gave us a ps5 experience in the early 2000s 👑💯
Would’ve loved to seen a cinematic where Zeus maybe reacts to news that Cronos was killed by Kratos, and him maybe be scared or even sort of proud. Because I get Zeu’s character is mostly based on the mythology version of himself and he gets poisoned by paranoia but they don’t really show him as person like reactions and emotions, they nailed that with Odin in the new ones though or most of the gods in the new ones
No they did remember Zeus was fearful and proud of Kratos in the entire series until Ghost of Sparta and God of War 2 since both revealed crazy revelations. Also he said at the post scene of Ghost of Sparta “Now only one remains.” Showing his reaction and his emotions. Although at least Kratos ended the cycle with Cronos and Zeus by killing them both.
He would be pissed. Think about it. If Zeus wanted Cronos dead, he could have killed him at any point in the millenia Cronos has been subdued. Zeus keeps all members of the Olympian lineage alive, even when they piss him off, because he must maintain the illusion to mankind that all gods are immortal. If one god can die, then all gods can die, which is foreshadowed in the mural in the room where Pandora{s Box is stored in GOW1 where mankind fights against Zeus. That´s why Zeus is ¨stricken with fear¨ upon seeing Kratos kill Ares.
@@faded9581 Well, it's also partly because he was literally consumed by the essence of fear. Zeus and Athena both tasked Kratos with killing Ares. It would be odd if they did that, and then didn't actually expect him to follow through on it.

In GOW1 and II, it is strongly implied that there is no exterior influence acting on Zeus that compels him to act deceitfully; it is his nature neutralize any who would oppose him preemptively, just as it was for Cronos and Ouranos. Yet, GOWIII would have us believe that Zeus, is not entirely to blame. The evils of the box have made him act like a tyrant. But that doesn't make sense, since Zeus clearly had no intention of following through on his promise to Kratos in GOW1, even before the Box is opened.
And if he did intend to follow through, why would he have Kratos open the box? Did he not know the evils would corrupt him? He's the one who put them inside the Box to begin with.
So is Zeus actually corrupted, which throws the only "Cycle of patricide" narrative since it isn't his fault he is this way, or has Zeus always been the same tyrant we all know and hate, and the whole "evils of Pandora's box" arc complete dogwater?

@@Gizmo800 He's actually far stronger than his younger self. The Norse Gods are simply vastly more powerful. Kratos in the earlier game was, like most Gods he fought, nuclear/planetary level. The Norse Gods scale up to 4-5D.

Lore wise... Kratos has no big creatures to fight. Everything big from Giants to Fenrir are on his side...

When you play these games on the hardest difficulty, there is nothing more satisfying than finally getting that O to execute the enemy you fought for hrs.. that shit is absolutely the best part of GoW for me, not only because you get an execution, but they're so fkin brutal it makes it even more satisfying watching them die to his brutality.. this is a deal breaker for me, when I play the newer games, the gore isn't there. The blood is black, doesn't spread like the 3rd, you dont see organs outside of the body, like Cronos and Centaurs.. its not the same. Its toned down. Its obvious their trying to pull in a younger more sensitive audience. Sorry but that isn't GoW for me.

I disagree. These fights are epic to watch, but the plot driving them are very shallow and almost childish. Kratos was nothing more than a ball of hate.

I agree, the new games are good in their own way, but this Kratos is absolutely brutal and ruthless. And the executions from this era was 100 times better in every way. Casuals wouldn't understand, they can barely handle qte anyway.

Thats what im saying! One of the best parts of this series was the brutality and gore. You can tell its been toned down in the new era to appease a younger sensitive audience so parents will buy it for their kids. Its why the second main character is a fucking kid.
