Definitely you only see old clips him at man u or celtic he's not in the media much im the same I could have been sitting in a bar him next to me not a clue its the legend that is .. id squint more and think is he a actor or something but definitely wouldn't no thats Brian mcClair one of the best players Scotlands produced
Never realised how much of an articulate and learned person Brian was! Just thought he was a guy who could play a bit and score goals! Shouldn’t judge until you know someone! 🤔👍👏🇮🇪🍀🇵🇸
Was very lucky to have seen most of Brian's games in the Hoops - highly talented/humble/intelligent/skillful/deadly in front of goal & a player who genuinely cared about the Celtic supporters. Was gutted when he went to Man. Utd, like thousands of other supporters @ that time. However, my over-riding feeling is one of privilege to have seen him play alongside so many other really great Celtic players w/ a similar mind-set >> entertain & always give 100%
Loved Brian as a player and he comes across as a lovely down to earth, smart, considerate guy. I also enjoyed how well he did with Man Utd and how he was often used to turn a game. He was the original supersub before Solskjaer and Sheringham. At times, pulling a victory from the jaws of defeat for Man Utd at a time when I liked them to an extent. I don't bother with Man Utd now but have always loved Celtic. Interesting his relationship with Hay and I remember how gutted I was when McClair left Celtic. A friend asked me if I wanted to go to Love Street for that game in 86. I wanted to stay with my Dad, Brendan got in though and obviously loved it. I was in the Safeway in Cardonald and listened to most of that game in the car park which was up on a roof and can still remember the hugs and joy I shared with Dad that day. I felt a wee bit jealous I hadn't gone with Brendan and Paul but I wanted to be with my Dad.
My 1st ever favourite celt. Top striker and treated shabily by the club. Mo johnston n alan mcinally, were offered more to resign. Even though Brian was top scorer in 4 seasons in a row. tribunal fee was a joke. Used to go over to westhorn( barrowfield) and watch him train. Outstanding striker
What a guy, used see him often in Coatbridge as a wee starstruck Bhoy,His best pal "Big Bootsie"was a friend of my 3 big brothers too and would always get him to sign an autograph for me,think I've still got about 20 of them, lol,Got my first celtic top ,The love sreet away lime green,It was also my first away game that day at love street,And so it all began, Ledgend in my eyes,GO ON CHALKY!!👍👌💚
Choccy mcclair, what a player, what a goalscorer. Was fortunate enough to have seen him in the flesh. Thank you brian for what you did for us while you wore the hoops, plus the lime green jersey.
Choccy, what a player, he knew where the net was that’s for sure, unbelievable at Celtic, signed for Man Utd and became the first player since George Best to bag 20 in a season
A still day dream about football,a wish I'd took the right path such l was on playing for Clydebank under 12 a ,best under 12a in Scotland but then we'd moved to Govan and the Heroin boom took most kids in the area 15 hooked and still fighting addiction at 50
I worked beside his dad (Charlie) who was quite a character. He pitched up at the distillery in a white Rover one day after the Man Utd transfer dead chuffed that his boy had bought him a new car.
McClair used to get compared with McCoist. He used to get overlooked for the latter in the national team. But McClair was the far superior football player. His footballing intelligence was fantastic. He'd be far more prized today as a player.
As guy said below just same wouldnt have known the guy in the street or in any store / shop And he was a top class striker in both Scotland and also in Englands top flight with the best teams . Celtic in Scotland and Man u in England .at a time when Man u were the best side down there . The days of top class Scottish strikers is over now ..Guys like McClair are a thing of the past nowadays . Players up front for Celtic and man u today they are not half as good .
I used to support celtic until Tommy burns went to my local team kilmarnock and have been a killie boy since. But waa at the stmirren game. That day and missed the Ayr 9 in a row bus back via kilmarnock. A think I was 15 at the time a police van stop and toke me to the bus stop and police man said to me your a lucky boy as the rangers suppourtes bus was dew back to that area. The police man gave me bus fare as I didn't have enough money. And let me call my parents from police station and saw me on to the bus for kilmarnock. My parents made me write a thank you letter to the police man what a day it was but if the police hadn't spotted me a dred to think what would happen as the rangers support bus was only a few minutes behind the police van.
This is a superb interview - but how can you properly cover his Celtic career and that day at Love Street without discussing the best strike partner that Brian had during his time at the club? It seems childishly bitter not to do so. Surely we can move on thirty five years later?
I remember his story of one week being called an orange bleep by Celts fans playing for Mwell, and the next, after signing for Celtic, he was a fen*** b!
Sandy makes the great point about the SNP wanting to be away from a Union of 4 countries because of this perceived impression that the voices of Scotland is not heard properly then want to jump into bed with a Union of 28 countries😂😂😂 and expect that to fairer🤦🏼♂️ Complete idiots. Real Independence is not want they preach
Brian mcClair, what can I say? Absolute legend at man united, love you man. Late 80s Stretford ender onwards watching you play was amazing.
Brian Mc Clair is a credit to himself his family and Scotland, A true Celt!
Brian McClair TRUE CELT and JAKEY,
Great to see Brian at the games still ..my fav celtic striker apart from henrik and kenny..what a player..the complete foward and more.
Tommy Burns was a beautiful soul. If everyone was like him the world would be a far better place.
Would never have recognised Brian McClair I would have walked by him without giving him a second glance what a legend….

Really enjoyed listening to Brian McClair's football stories, especially the Lisbon Lions kitman Adidas artwork tale...classic 😂
My memories of the Love St game was living in Jeddah and the BBC World Service gave the last 15 mins of the game and it was brilliant.
Bobby Lennox sitting in the dugout😂
Wow- McLair has become enlightened! Incredible
Choccy has always been enlightened unlike you😢

Very underrated player for Celtic And Manchester United great goal scorer .
His best comment when playing old co, He then said they speak a different language from us.As one of them ran on to attack him And he was top player.

Lucky to see Choccy play .. was a really good player.
I worked beside his dad (Charlie) who was quite a character. He pitched up at the distillery in a white Rover one day after the Man Utd transfer dead chuffed that his boy had bought him a new car.
Was a great goalscorer at Motherwell first, had two spells at the well...

Could do with a player of his quality now ...great player Brian.
It’s that guy from Cast Away? Where’s Wilson?
Landing a plane on the Hudson river apparently 😂

Are all celtic’s best moments in the past? They are under this ownership and board.
My Greatest Celtic moment was when John Barnes became the manager.

Aye those ibrox street begging stank lifters who stood idly by hoovering up their disability benefits .2012😂😂
Looks like Julian Assange in the thumbnail.
Eh......I say......look at the state of him!! He used to be a nice, clean-cut lad, didn't he? He's gone potty, hasn't he?
Good player. Can anyone name a more boring guest though. I've heard him on a few interviews and good god it is tiresome listening to him.
