This is reminiscent of Mike Bossy. Who slipped all the way down to 15th in the draft because he too was “one dimensional”. And every team regretted that one too. While no one has a crystal ball, all fingers point to this kid becoming a goal scoring sensation.

A comparison beyond hockey (and yes, as an older Isles fan, I remember the Bossy pick very well, since it came after the Rangers took BOTH Ron Duguay and Lucien Deblois), would be Aaron Rodgers, and that turned out pretty well too . . .

Sliding down in the draft may be disappointing to a player the day of the draft, but it's really a good thing because the further he slides, the better the team he is going to. Take another Islander pick from long ago. Mike Bossy slid to 15th his draft year while being the best goal scorer in juniors. Nobody picked him because he "couldn't play defense". In sliding down he went to a team on the verge of winning 4 straight Stanley Cups. He could have been picked by the Colorado Rockies instead and played his career with a team that struggled to win 20 games a season.

Eiserman is no where near close to ovi 😂 ovi is one of the best at making his own shot… eiserman lacks that. While ovi is known for his one timer, ovi is actually a really undervalued passer. He would rather score than pass, but his passes are still leaps and bounds above eiserman.
Edit: eiserman would be on the right circle for one timers, he’s left handed. You play off handed for one tees on the powerplay.

    • @swen1208

early in his career Ovi was a really good at shooting in general not just his slapshot and his hands were slick as hell.

I'm a huge Islanders fan. Eiserman probably won't be on the team until 2026-27 at the earliest. He's going to Boston University this year so obviously he has not signed his ELC. It's going to be a while before he plays in the NHL full time.

Fantastic AAA one-timer, Great A+ wrist shot, A-level body/frame, mid-level B hockey IQ at current level (could improve), low to mid C+ skating talent, C- low defensive talent. That's why he was not a top 8 draftee. Could he be THE 2024 draft steal? Sure - but to do so he needs major (MAJOR!) improvements to be able to follow NHL-level talent.

Ivan Demidov at #5 is EASILY the biggest steal of the draft. He was supposed to go at #2 but he dropped because of the Russian factor. Demidov is a much better more complete 200 foot player than Cole Eiserman. Demidov can do it all: He has amazing hands, a great shot, has great vision, is a terrific playmaker and he's very solid in his own end as he backchecks ferociously. Eiserman is an elite sniper with a great shot but he has some serious work to do on the other aspects of his game - which explains why he dropped so far.
