This was the guy I wanted pre draft but didn’t think we had a chance at 20th. Extremely happy with the pick. We can still do something with our 2 seconds so let’s see how tomorrow goes.

I'm happy you got the guy you wanted and I hope we get the guy you saw. You're right tomorrow might still be the day for that trade and I can have my cake and eat it too!

Once Detroit passed on him at #15, I knew we had a real chance of getting him. He'll put up big numbers next year at BU, and hopefully put the rest of the fan base's fears to rest! And the fact that he won't even turn 18 till August gives him a longer runway for development.

As the great Al Arbour said when asked by Bill Torrey if he wanted the scorer ( Mike Bossy) or the defensive player? Arbour said, “Give me the scorer, I’ll teach him defense”.

The only thing you can't teach a hockey player is scoring goals...the rest is very doable... so let's just wait and see what happens... this kid is a much better skater than those two.. However, I do agree we have to get better now... I'm hoping by the start of the season, things will look a little different...

I like the pick. Isles lucked out by keeping 20 and having eiserman drop to them. Isles need scorers. It was worth the risk at 20. Better than taking the usual 'plays the game the right way' guy with size who adds nothing offensively. Isles still have two second rounders to do something with-if they keep them.

The Islanders have had a bottom ranked farm system for years. This draft was huge in helping the Islanders bolster the farm system. Lou traded down from 18th to 20th with Chicago in May and still got arguably the best goal scorer in the draft. Obviously Cole Eiserman won’t be with the NHL club right away. Hopefully he will have a great season at BU this upcoming year and join the team in the not so distant future.

Disagree with how you feel - this team is old and filled with bad contracts, we’re not competing again in a serious way anytime soon. Trading more first rounders to “win now” means you’re just a little delusional on the current makeup of this team. Trying to be realistic not negative

Kids 17, with development and practice anything can be learned. Scoring is a gift and cannot be taught like other areas.

First time viewer but decades & decades & decades & decades long time Isles fan. I would have loved to see this pick wrapped up with JG and/or Anders to lure Leon Draisaitl (or similar level caliber player) away from Edmonton.
By the time this kid is ready to play, IF HE EVEN EVER DOES... everyone will be retired or dead.

Karlstrom signed a one-year, $775,000 contract with the Islanders on Tuesday, per PuckPedia.

Stop comparing him to other former isles failed prospects. He is a player unto himself. I’m so freaking excited he fell to us, I’ve wanted him all year. He’s a pure goal scorer. So what Wally didn’t pan out? Has absolutely nothing to do with anything.

Eiserman off to BU we will see in 3 three years if he has any potential. And by the way last time I heard Bellows was in the Toronto system, expecting him to head overseas in the future. Try to remember that NY is not a desirable destination unless someone is willing to back up a dump truck of cash to your door.😊

I have been an islanders fan since I was born long time ago and this team has done jack shit for the past 40 plus year's now yes the islanders made some deep runs in the playoffs during the covid times but even that was 4 years ago so we actually got worse after covid typically Lou has done a lot of good things for this organization but Hockey has passed him by he needs to go and if the owners of the organization don't know anything about hockey than sell the team to ppl that do I'm sick of this organization being a joke even Florida and Vegas have won a cup and all we can bring to the table is well at least we won back in the 80s I'm tired of hearing that as well

You put this kid with Barzal watch out

  • @alexyaybar
    @alexyaybar 3 месяца назад

Scouts view him as one dimensional
    Weak off the puck
Doesn't put himself in a position to take advantage of his shot
    Not a playmaker
    Doesn't create for himself
    Cheats off the rush
    Not physical
This was a very weak draft
Next year is supposed to be a very deep draft
Isles should have traded this pick and with the intent of grabbing picks for next year
When your prospect pool is ranked 30th it's about risk management
You go with the safer pick with less risk

Love the pick really surprised he fell so hard. Look at caul caufield. He even has some size... Should be Barzels partner in 2 years... easily 30g scorer can't really pass on that.... I thought Detroit would target him for sure... Elite Scoring is prob the hardest thing to find.

With these next two second round picks we need to do a trade for a scorer. Trade lee.nelson.martin and cluterfart and move walhlstrom for elehers of the jets. Love the pick wirh cole! But regardless Lou sucks da big one!😂

Oof, yeah those are tough comparables. I wonder if it says more about the USDP coaching/play-style than the players themselves.

Uhm you forgot to mention that this guy is 8mph faster than Wally and bellows. He also said in his draft interview that he thinks his second best attribute was his play making. He just can’t do the playmaking because his teammates need him to finish plays.
