Hold 'Cntrl' and press the '+' to zoom in on the load board. Unless you're trying to fit it all in on one screen, then you would have to re size each column by changing the margin from a size to 'width == text' in the JavaScript by inspecting the elements of the page. As soon as you refresh the page it will go back to the default settings

That is ridiculous. Lubbock is quite a ways from Dallas and it's not like an interstate runs directly from Dallas to Lubbock. Nogales is about 3 hours from Phoenix and doesn't have a reputation for being a safe place. While Dallas to Austin is a straight shot, I35 is a nightmare, especially around the Austin area.

Yes that is a good rate to California. Usually the best loads never hit the load board. Reason being is once a carrier find brokers like you just did that pay well. They commit to them and that broker would not have to post their loads.

Sorry to tell you its going to get way worse. I remember 2008 -2012 you had to beg for 2:00 a mile. Only 11 new loads per day in the Cincinnati market. I remember

Good video Miranda. Keeping it real I see. I learned many moons ago that Texas can be an okay market to run intrastate, however the moment you want to find a load that gets you out of the state, it's like pulling teeth assuming you want to actually make a descent living. For this reason I refer to the entire state of Texas as a "BLACK HOLE" LOL. It's sucks you in and will NOT let you out. Texas, in my opinion is ranked down there with Florida, the entire northeast and pretty much anywhere west of the Mississippi River!! And that applies to ALL trailer classifications. SO, Texas has been on my DO NOT GO list for many years now. What's worse than going to Texas is going from Texas to California. I would never recommend that because California is an even worse freight market than Texas. California has always been a Mexican standoff. All the eastern carriers who deliver on Monday in California usually sit for most of the week waiting on a load back east. The brokers know this and so, they always hold off on decent rates until Friday afternoon. If you're fortunate enough to find a good load on Friday out of California, The delivery times are often impossibly tight BECAUSE what moves on Friday going back east really should have moved no later than Wednesday. BUT........because brokers want to squeeze the carriers on the rate knowing that the carriers really have no where else to go, they always hold off till the very last minute on increasing the rates. Miranda, If you're running for around $2.80/mile with a reefer I honestly Do not see how you're surviving. In my opinion, the best area of the country to run a reefer is IL, IN, OH, KY. That's where you'll have the best probability of finding a decent paying reefer load while keeping your deadhead miles down. With the increasing price of diesel that we're experiencing, reducing deadhead miles is very important. You should be averaging for all miles right now loaded and empty a minimum of $3.75/mile. Reefers are not cheap to own. The older they are, the more fuel they require because as a reefer ages, the insulating value of the trailer decreases, thus it requires more fuel to run the motor to keep the trailer at temperature. For this reason, most reefer carriers have their reefers on a regular trade cycle. THUS, Reefer operators HAVE TO factor greater depreciating costs for equipment than do van and flatbed operators. I understand that you're trying to survive this Freight market and still make a profit. From what I gather, you started in the business in 2019. For those carriers who started in that time frame, all you've known in your brief careers is a strong freight market, with the exception of march till June of 2020. Otherwise, anyone could have made money from then till recently. What we are presently experiencing in the Freight market is without precedent. My advice to all carriers both small and large is greatly reduce your profit expectations for the remainder of this year and for all of 2023. Fedex(not exactly a fly by night organization) came out with the same prediction about one month ago. Along with this, you need to put yourself in the strongest financial position possible. Reduce debt and be prepared for greatly reduced utilization and income. Mark my words, the used truck & trailer market is going to experience a tsunami of repossessions within the next 12 months or so fueled by carriers who DO NOT understand how to profitably run a trucking company. This, in turn, will collapse truck and trailer values. If you're thinking about selling out, NOW is the time. DO NOT WAIT. If you are running a truck with a hired driver, You are going to have financial problems. Personally I think it would be financial suicide right now to have a truck on the road with a hired driver. For many, what this means is exiting the business. What that looks like, obviously is different for all. There is a very real probability that those who are over leveraged and still trying to survive will eventually go bankrupt. Not a pleasant thought, nonetheless a very real probability. The only way to survive this period in the industry is to carry no debt and have the financial muscle to simply idle your trucks until market conditions change in favor of carriers which is what I'm doing. For those of you who continue to try to run without a thorough working knowledge of the freight industry, you will eventually exit the business in disgust and bankruptcy. Buckle up kids, because it's going to get very crazy in our business. God Bless
I would love a 3.75/mile load but where do I find such a load? Unless its a 40-150 mile load paying very little gross :(
@@TruckingMadeSuccessful This is the current state of the trucking market. Too much capacity for too few loads. You can survive for a while at $2.75/mile however eventually maintenance costs will catch up with you. I've seen it many times over the years. Guy gets a truck, eventually break downs eat away at profits, and savings dwindle to nothing. As I said, the carriers with the strongest financial positions who can afford to idle their trucks will survive this. the weaker players will drive the rates down until it makes it so unbearable that bankruptcies skyrocket. The used truck market will collapse and when the economy eventually comes back as it always does, those of us who were not over leveraged and did not participate in the race to the bottom on rates, will live to reap handsome rewards. The moment your net income per mile heads south is the time to prepare for impact. Miranda, You seem to have a clear picture of tracking expense and profit per mile which I applaud you for. Sadly many small trucking companies and owner operators never grasp that basic concept. So, that puts you at least far ahead of many of your peers.

It's swamped with trucks, too many carriers open during the freight Frenzy of 2020 & 2021 now its a horrible bloodbath!!

I know the name of few shitty brokers that did the same , some of them use your authorities
to grab loads without your concern and double broker them , be careful when you post trucks on dat because that happened to me . very common also in this trucking recession that you grab a load with a shady broker and you go pick it up and somebody else already picked it up , they just gave money to the shipper clerk and they get loaded with your load , and you if you are lucky end up with a TONU but without a load .

What about non-recourse factoring to help against deadbeat brokers? Do they care about credit scores and other things? The fees themselves would be tax deductible at least.
Unfortunately not all brokers are factorable- and factoring companies dont touch those which crap credit

Curious, do you have to book the load only after your driver has delivered or can you potentially book a load a day earlier but for a future point in time?
You can book in advance but I try not to because a lot of things can happen (delays, rejections, issues, etc)

I would say it definitely depends on the area of delivery and time of delivery (past 10-11 am deliveries = harder), and at least posting a truck a day ahead and taking a quick look at the board and what you can expect from the market the next day is a MUST. If you see that it's already going to be rough tomorrow, you can't really expect it to get any better in 24 hours as many brokers post most of their loads days in advance. In southern states like NC/SC/GA freight just gets snatched in a couple of hours. By 10 am there's barely anything left that's worth booking
do you call the drivers with details/rate and then book them if they agree or just book any decent paying load for them and then after assign them to it?
Great question. Depends. If I am booking a load for one of my business partners, I will often call them to talk a load over (if the market allows it- some places dont give me that time as loads get booked too fast). If its a company driver, then no.

Excellent question- I have no idea why they dont pick up right after posting a load but I am guessing sometimes they post it for the wrong day
