- Using Randakks carb rebuild kit and video I rebuilt my carbs. Made this video for my own interest. I do point out some things Randakk doesn't. I suggest watching this and his video when rebuilding your GL1000 carbs. I am not a master of the GL1000 like Randakk so don't expect the same quality video :-)
At 13:00, you need to remove the vacuum air covers on the opposite side. Then, looking down into the carb, you'll see the two press fit parts you could not remove. Take a small brass punch and tap on each lightly. Those will then fall out the other side.
Original pine sol is what you should submerge your carbs in before attempting to take apart for a rebuild. It cleans great without discoloration of the metal and is not harmful at all to plastic or rubber. It will keep you from destroying stuck parts also. Soak for three days.
To remove the gas from the carbs, pull the manafold intake screws and twist the intake out of the way. Then you get a straight shot at the screws. you can also pull the O-rings at that point. you can twist them back down so teh carbs are supported for the rest of the process. The screws are real soft and you don't run as much risk of buggering them...
PLEASE reupload in HD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE!
At 12:37 where you say "The main just just pull out". I wish that was the case with mine, they're well stuck in there.
I have to ask why my carbs don't have screwdriver slots in the brass orifices? The only thing I can think to do is to try a small easy out on them. Any ideas out there?
12:12 it is your number one carb. you have it flipped over to the left upside down.
I can get a bike like this but the guy says the engine is seized. is it common for the carb floats to get stuck and fill up the cylinder and hydro lock it. only has 20k miles and no rust. guy says the other guy never changed oil. so idk what to do. only wants 300 bucks for it.
Honda created a genius design in these GL1000's. But for the LIFE of me, I cannot understand such a flawed design that would allow the cylinders to fill up if the needle didn't seat. I had problems with mine and I'm sure I almost killed the engine at one point. I removed the spark plugs, turned the engine over and gas shot 20 feet out to the side of one cylinder. I'm glad I wasn't in the kill zone when it shot out!! EVERY carb should have an overflow line, ZERO exceptions Honda!
Where do I get the cylinder head carburettor tops
Next time, just take the extra 5 minutes and get that blasted door out of your way. I removed mine and it was so much less frustrating than lifting and fiddling with it each time.
If the engine seized cos of no oil then that will be a parts bike. If u are near Memphis I have a motor for it!
Cylinder head vacuum covers
QUESTION!! how do you remove the two false side covers to the gas tank
Open center council with key, remove tool tray, unscrew large knob, let side cover down and remove 2 pins .
Why is my 1985 Honda gold wing 1100 ascapade getting gas in oil
Possibly a float stuck in carb.
