GL1000 carb rebuild part 3of3
Просмотров 19 тыс.12 лет назад
Using Randakks carb rebuild kit and video I rebuilt my carbs. Made this video for my own interest. I do point out some things Randakk doesn't. I suggest watching this and his video when rebuilding your GL1000 carbs. I am not a master of the GL1000 like Randakk so don't expect the same quality video :-)

Did he ever show how he removed the jets?
For the puks they are avail thru Randakk's. As for the main brass tube that gets damaged, keyster do pretty good kits Inc the main tube. If you are careful enough the puks can come out by air... Always a stubborn one in there tho
Thanks for your how to series. I've done my 1100 carbs... Now rebuilding a 75. My word these carbs are pretty average. Chucked them in my ultrasonic bath but I'm going to have them vapour blasted then clean and blast with copious amount of compressed air. The 1000 carbs are a bit different but nothing I can't sort... Will get the randakks kit in due course. I'll keep all oem brass ware as recommended by most carb builders. Honda parts don't need changing... Just the seals. Greetings from Perth... 🙂👍
Uh this one uh is uh close uh together uh now uh uhhh gotta uh clean uh the screen uh they uhhh look uhh to uh be uh in uhh goof condition uhhh
Cylinder head vacuum covers
Where do I get the cylinder head carburettor tops
Original pine sol is what you should submerge your carbs in before attempting to take apart for a rebuild. It cleans great without discoloration of the metal and is not harmful at all to plastic or rubber. It will keep you from destroying stuck parts also. Soak for three days.
At 12:37 where you say "The main just just pull out". I wish that was the case with mine, they're well stuck in there.
I have to ask why my carbs don't have screwdriver slots in the brass orifices? The only thing I can think to do is to try a small easy out on them. Any ideas out there?
What is the benefit to replacing the pucks?
Ugh ugh mmm ugh nice ugh. Nice ughgh bike ugh ugh ugh yea ugh. Nice ugh bike ughhhhhhhhh
There are kits out there that have the o-rings already on the parts. This is a MAJOR help when determining orientation of those main fuel jets. Also, there is no guesswork as to which o-ring is the correct one for which part. It's amazing to me that the carb kit makers would force you to guess which o-ring goes where.
At 13:00, you need to remove the vacuum air covers on the opposite side. Then, looking down into the carb, you'll see the two press fit parts you could not remove. Take a small brass punch and tap on each lightly. Those will then fall out the other side.
Next time, just take the extra 5 minutes and get that blasted door out of your way. I removed mine and it was so much less frustrating than lifting and fiddling with it each time.
Why is my 1985 Honda gold wing 1100 ascapade getting gas in oil
Possibly a float stuck in carb.
cleveland mortician that what I was thinking is there any other salutations I might need to keep in mind

12:12 it is your number one carb. you have it flipped over to the left upside down.
You were at the point where I needed help when you bailed out. Bummer. I wish I'd have known you were just selling Randakks video.
1step. In order not to get lost... Don't take them all apart at the same time. doh.
uhh then take out uhhh um those uhhh little um things uhhh there uhhh. They're called JETS.
QUESTION!! how do you remove the two false side covers to the gas tank
Open center council with key, remove tool tray, unscrew large knob, let side cover down and remove 2 pins .
Ahhhhhhhhhhh, Ahhhhhhhhhh, Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh.
If the engine seized cos of no oil then that will be a parts bike. If u are near Memphis I have a motor for it!
I can get a bike like this but the guy says the engine is seized. is it common for the carb floats to get stuck and fill up the cylinder and hydro lock it. only has 20k miles and no rust. guy says the other guy never changed oil. so idk what to do. only wants 300 bucks for it.
Honda created a genius design in these GL1000's. But for the LIFE of me, I cannot understand such a flawed design that would allow the cylinders to fill up if the needle didn't seat. I had problems with mine and I'm sure I almost killed the engine at one point. I removed the spark plugs, turned the engine over and gas shot 20 feet out to the side of one cylinder. I'm glad I wasn't in the kill zone when it shot out!! EVERY carb should have an overflow line, ZERO exceptions Honda!
big production, just take the carbs off! Who cares if a little petrol leaks , Get on with it man!
Um.. Uh... Oh... Umm.. Uh... Alright.
So how did it run after?
Good Job Jarrod! After my '78 GL-1000 sat for two years after I had my surgery, it would not run at all! I decided it was time for rebuilding the carbs. I used Randakk's rebuild kit and video. I spent a lot of time, running the video for a section/step, and then going and doing that bit of work. As near is I could tell, these carbs had never been off of this motorcycle. I put the carb stack on the bike, if fired right up, but I could not get it to idle. I am now, perplexed as what to do!
Have fun. Hope it helps. If u have any queations i'll answer them the best I can.
I am going to try to do the carbs on my 79 GL 10000 using your video
Do u have a time on the video so i have a reference to know what u are talking about.
Hi, I was curious, there is or should i say was some kind of rubber plugging the hole in between the jets, under the cradle thing, what did you use to plug those? Thanks
You can buy those plugs.... Mine came in the kits I bought, but they aren't in every maker's kit.
To remove the gas from the carbs, pull the manafold intake screws and twist the intake out of the way. Then you get a straight shot at the screws. you can also pull the O-rings at that point. you can twist them back down so teh carbs are supported for the rest of the process. The screws are real soft and you don't run as much risk of buggering them...
Thanks Jarrod. I have checked their website...$16 for 4 pucks...might check the yards first.
Or even better you can buy after market perfect ones from Randakk. Randakk.com
During a carb rebuild, it's imperative that you remove these to clean the hidden idle circuit passages. Usually, compressed air applied through the idle mixture adjustment screw hole will pop them out (and cause them to fly across the garage like what happened to you!). Unfortunately, the pucks have never been available from Honda (unless you buy a whole carb assembly!). If you've lost or damaged these pucks and need replacements, you will need access to a stash of salvage parts.
Randakks do the puks.
For the main tube... Keyster do full kits include the main tube which gets damaged anytime you try to remove them
The circular aluminum disk is the carb "puck." This "puck" is a critical part about the size and shape of a large aspirin tablet and is located beneath the fuel bowl gasket in the main carb body. It's necessary to cover the access point used in the manufacturing process to create the by-pass transfer ports for the idle circuit.
I have a question about those plugs that you had to drill out...what are they for, what do they do, what is thier function? I have a `79 that I was trying to redo the carbs on, and my plugs all blew out easily with a gentle squirt of air. So easy in fact, that one plug blew out and hit the floor and vanished into thin air !!. Will that carb flood out now or what do they do ? I need some help.
