A lot of people are bitching about the price. I built slant cabinets myself before and trust me there is a buttload of labor that goes into one of those. Hand labor in the UK or USA is not cheap. Eventually they will probably ship it all off to China and then you'll be bitching about that.
For the price I expect good sound and orange is not that :D .. Orange sound like granpda rig. And it is ugly as fk. Come on. Look at it.. Its fucking hideous.
90% of their products are made in PRC, They sold out long ago... I build professional cabs as well. Could bust off about 3-4 slants in an 8 hour day, and that's complete. They are super simple, especially with all the right parts, machines and proper tools. I use a table saw, Brad nailer and a router, by hand. The hardest part is cutting the seems on the Tolex/Rexine so they perfectly match up. After 2 or 3, you get it right. This is basic high school shop stuff. They don't even finger joint them. That, out of any step, is the most time consuming part! Slapping the wood on a CNC table for 1-2 mins for all your cuts is chump work at minimum wage. Then it goes together is like Lego, all your grooves are there. Glue, line up, nail done! Orange is now a Corporation out for your cash! These are $1799 +tax here in Canada, wood is Chinese, wiring is Chinese, Rexine is made in china, along with all the input jacks, down to the Celestion Vintage 30's, all made in China. People will always bitch yes, but the price is R*A*P*E man! UK labor is not the highest quality either, I have watched Top Gear since the 80's, they talk about it all the time! We have an amp company called Traynor up here, they make the exact same cab, it is heavier though by about 10-12 lbs. Still uses Chinese V30's, but its $800 +tax so, $840 all in. The difference in tone can be dialed with a EQ, unless you like being taken a fool by the company you support, then by all means... Whack away Jim, whack away! Building one with little knowledge and cheap hands tools makes for a buttload of work yes. But you are saving like $1200 bucks dude! I agree with Jack Fisher here, they are ugly, well the grill mesh is, and they sound like every other V30 cab. I sold my Rockerverb for a Revv Genorator, never looking back again! TheRevv is 10 times the amp. V30's are actually crap speakers for anything but metal anyways... Just to be clear people, Google does not have ears, you do, use them and try other speakers! There are leaders in this world and followers, which one are you?

I checked the Celestion website and the picture they have there for the V30 is exactly like the one shown in this video which begs the question: Could it be that all V30s now are made in China and Orange is only using what's available or can you still buy V30s made in England? It's been 2 or more days that I'm poundering between buying that cab because I want the UK version of V30 or I don't want it at all.

Take all the screws out then remove the jack plate and once youve taken out the jack plate let it hang off to the side and reach in with a few fingers and pull outward. That should do the trick. Its tight cause if it wasnt it wouldnt control air and would essentially be a half ass open back cabinet.
i'm also kinda disappointed that they dont use their own custom cover material and call it "orange peel" so much missed smiles on that missed opportunity. they could have a jazzy model called "zest" and a shred model called "slice" and a smooth clean cab called the dream-sickle. even a super dense male model with great hair called the mocha-frappachino. (zoolander fans will get that one)

Recently got a PPC 212 with my TH30. my mesa roadster and H&K tubemiester sound great through it as well. I know alot of people want less expensive gear but there's a reason these top most 212 lists. WOW.
I think there was a hurricane somewhere in the States, and it happened that a house (or a music store ?) was destroyed by the hurricane, yet a PPC 412 stood the test of the weather !
I got a 2x12 closed back a year ago. It was a happy day. Same a few months before that getting a Rockerverb 50. Special shit man. Gonna do the same with a Bogner xtc, and matching cab soon. Then ill have the stereo rig to rival all stereo rigs.
My cousin can testify as to how sturdy my PPC112 is. It got delivered when I was at work and he had to carry it up 2 flights of stairs to my house. Not that I planned it that way.......

Normally it's made in the UK ! The open back 212 is made in China though! Never heard of a made in USA Orange cab ! Are they doing like Trace Elliot ? It was made in UK before being sold to Peavey.

I have both. I mainly use the Orange. I did put two of the Marshall's speakers in it in an X pattern though. I kind of want a Mesa, ENGL Pro (perfect sound in the room for me) and Laboga 2x12 next..
I bought a PPC412 used for €350 the other day. It has been on tours with a german band and has seen some rough treatment. It is beaten and battered, got spray painted and what not. Sounds exactly what I need for my tone, which makes me happy, but I must say, when I opened it up the first time I was surprised about the only average build quality. Nothing special.
My OR32 came with the logo crooked and the mounting screws for the speakers aren’t set all the way because they leave raised bumps on the grill cloth. Amp sounds great though.
Something I found funny is that in the China video they use some cardboard cutouts to align the orange logo and name. Seems easier than having it made out of metal lol
I have an Orange 1 x 12 and I thought it sounded great, but after I found out that there are no dove tail joints in the construction I changed my mind. All I can hear now is the lack of fancy carpentry.

I'll never understand people thinking they can play guitar but don't know how to use their hands to build a box. Dovetail joints are only suitable for use on solid wood. Finger joints are the best choice for plywood cabinetry. The best choice for MDF/particle board cabinetry is to throw it on a bonfire.
My local home depot didn't stock birch plywood, so lucky you. I went to a woodworking supply store and got true birch plywood for about $40 for a half sheet. I only used about 10% so far and could easily make a 1x12 out of the rest. Not to mention I got some beautiful flame in the birch so it'll be stained and not covered in tolex
I dont know what drug you are taking, but in this century a dovetail doesn't have much to do with the price. Today they're made by machine so it doesnt really affect the price as not much labour is needed. And, you won't even see it with the leather stuff on top.
Stapled, glued, braced, and rabbeted construction is not the worst but you could do so much better. Fingerjoint those cabinet sides together for a properly strong cabinet.
I don't like the way the corners are put together. Dovetail joints are superior. I also noted some shortcuts putting the Tolex on. Nailing the corner guards rather than screwing them is cheap. These cabinets may sound good but my bet is they show wear and tear quickly.
I have a orange 120w combo. the design is great, it's very loud to rock, but I think that is so heavy to be a wood cabinet. and the same question, why is so expensive? not for the cabinet for sure.
rubber feet get torn off if you push the cabinet sideways, "runners" get their name for a reason, they allow exactly that, they can skid on carpet or wood stages, try that with rubber feet. Fender used metal caps over rubber feet in the 60s, not any more.
why is it that they market these cabs with the "voice of the world" speaker tag while they really insert Celestion Vintage 30? . . or the video just used that clip?

I have a 70’s 6x12 cabinet. Its like moving a refrigerator, every time it needs to be moved! Orange cabs are built better than anything out there!

I've been looking at getting an Orange Crush 100 and a PPC212 forever and to see they are put together by hand really makes me want one now.
Those are made in china, still hand made though they got another video showing that factory as well.

It's a pretty cheap way to make a cabinet. Marshall uses proper finger joints which makes for a better cabinet.
