      thanks, a great little boat for my solo fishing and general putting around/exploring. I hope to get lots of use this season and complete a part two video.

    Nice boat I love it. Too bad you couldn’t keep the original outboard but it looks like you kept the gauges retro and the white motor on the red hull looks great!

      Thanks, I wanted a quiet efficient dependable motor, the old one and many old ones are stinky, oily, temperamental, so I get the "staying vintage" idea but my plan was a "get in and go" anytime without concern power source. Thanks for the compliments I prefer the white on red too

    I have a '59, 60, and 61. I thought I'd restore them and put all three on a local lake to start a business, but the local lakes are almost gone because of the drought her in N. California. Anybody interested?

    Hi, I have a 1968 dorsett catalina. Had to rebuild the transom and floor, Also a broken front window. I was wondering how you removed the window frames? I havent been able to bend plexiglass into shape or get anyone else to attempt it. The same window You had a bullet hole through, mine is half shattered. How did you do it? If you dont mind theres almost no info on these classic boats. Love the video!

      The frame is two pieces inside and outside ,..remove the screws around the inner frame and separate and all comes out

      the Dorsett in this video is a 1960 or 1961. The first Catalina had a biger bow handle we called it a cow head cuz it was so big and the seats in the cabin came to a point with no hatch for a head. i had a 59 and there was no room in it cuz the deck was level with the cabin deck this one looks like it had a step down going in to the cabin. i have a 1964 San Juan out board, it is my 8th Dorsett, im 81 and started whin i was 20. thats porbley why in on my 2nd wife. charlie in newark, ca just 10 miles from ware the Dorsett was bilt.

      @@m13video it wasent tell 1972 that they started putting the date of the boat in the vin number, at the end of the vin. you have a great peace of history there and i know u r proud of it, you should be u put a lot of loving time in it and it shows. Hay, i might be wrong, i just did some research and found out that Dorsett started in 1955 and i think the cabin boat was started some time after that. if you to to youtube and put in: " Lake Arrowhead Antique And Classic Wooden Boat Show June 2015" there is a old Catalina there and to look at the helm it must go back befor 1959. the motors on the back look like 1957 so i think i just learned somthing here. im 81 so i guss old dogs can learn new tricks. You may have a 59 after all. Happy trails charlie

    what did you use for buffing? Mine needs to be done.

    • @m13video
      @m13video  6 лет назад

      Thanks for the interest, First a good cleaning, then a wet sanding with 800 or finer grit sandpaper, then electric buffing ( clean the pads often!) with3M marine rubbing compound, then buff again this time with 3M marine Finesse-it glaze, then finish with Meguiars Ultimate liquid wax. Clean between rubbing compounds. Then GO HAVE FUN! a sweet little craft for sure!.

      OK, for all you "purists" out there trying to educate folks/me on the year of manufacture for this boat? It was titled as a 1959 when I bought it,..the serial number ends in 59,.I will continue to call it a 1959 for those very indicators,....what ever it is? (seems to be a topic of DEEP debate:),..does it really matter? the video is showing a cool boat being revitalized no more, no less, enjoy and god bless.
