When you made your first shot, I at first thought you got him since it looked like he was falling down but you said you missed. Do squirrels jump from tree to tree?
Yes, when any squirrel realizes it's being hunted it goes to great lengths to escape. Jumping from tree to tree you'd be amazed how fast a squirrel can lose you. That's why it's crucial to get them with the first shot. Sometimes they don't give you that second chance. When skinning this squirrel I didn't find any other wound other than the one that brought him down. So I can indeed confirm I missed the first shot. I thought the same thing too. In fact, I cut out a part where I say "shit, I think I got him, but I just didn't kill him. God, I hope I didn't injure him". Thanks for the question and watching.
