I am a Veteran nurse of 24 years. I worked Medevac for many years and I still will never get used to seeing this kind of trauma. We work in auto pilot mode, disassociate and simply delete the incident out of our brains otherwise you will go mad.

Normally jury selection will include questions such as "Are you ok with graphic evidence?", assuming that's the case here. If a juror were to avert their eyes significantly (to the point where the judge feels that they have not viewed the evidence), they would probably be dismissed and possibly held in contempt if they had previously indicated they were ok with viewing it.
Done jury duty these are videos to grasp the context of what’s happened but you get statements read out and from doctors and you get copy’s to view so don’t have to watch the video no it’s shown for everyone what you have to understand is the facts yes he did this all horrible but why did he go over there armed and on his own doesn’t make sense. Nah, they don't really need to look at it. They are determining whether the defendant's actions were self defense, or first degree murder. What led up to the stab injuries is what is important.

I’m 53. I grew up in the 70’s and 80’s. Even as teenagers, when children tend to be more rebellious and run their mouth off foolishly, we respected our elders. Back then, teachers might have had a disrespectful student here and there, but for the most part, their students were respectful and followed the teacher’s instructions. If we hadn’t been respectful, and done as we were told, our parents would have been notified, and back then, kids KNEW what that meant. We were more concerned about the punishment from our parents than we were from any other authority figure. As a result, we didn’t have a large part of the youth in society acting like a bunch of hoodlums. We didn’t have school sh**tings, we didn’t have cops patrolling the school every day, we could go hang out with our friends at the mall without worrying about a bunch of kids getting into a fight, and one of them pulling out a g*n and firing. All of these things began in the 90’s, when the campaign against a parent’s right to discipline their child resulted in many parents being fearful of doing so. There was a lot of promotion of techniques like “time out” for parents disciplining their children. The problem is, children are individuals, and a specific technique for disciplining them is not going to work for all of them. When I did something really bad, something that would get progressively worse and be repeated if I didn’t suffer harsh enough consequences to make me not want to do that again, I got my tail whooped. If I did it again, I got my tail tore up again. Spanking your child’s butt for something they did wrong, to cause them to pause and think before doing it again, is NOT the same as parents who beat on their children for no purpose, who are intentionally trying to inflict bodily harm on them. Spanking isn’t going to work on teenagers, BUT, if you have been disciplining your children from the start, your children will already know the difference between right and wrong when they’re teenagers, and they are not going to be as likely to do things they know will result in negative consequences. Even for the most hardheaded of children, if they have a severe negative consequence for something bad they did, it will eventually kick in that if they stop doing that bad thing, so will the consequences of doing it vanish. When I disobeyed my parents without any real consequences, I would usually do it again. This is just human nature. It’s within our very nature to be rebellious. Also in the 90’s, a lot of parents stopped parenting altogether, choosing to let technology raise their children instead. The result of all of that is the surge today in children who are committing more crimes, who have no respect for ANY authority whatsoever, and who have this narcissistic sense of self-entitlement that makes them think they can do whatever they want, to whoever they want, and nobody is going to stop them, or hold them accountable. Another factor in this whole scenario is the lack of a dad in many American homes. There used to be no phrase that struck fear in the heart of a child who had been caught doing something wrong than, “You just wait until your daddy gets home and finds out what you did”. If I was misbehaving, my parents could stop me in my tracks with just a look. That is a well disciplined child, when they can be corrected with just a look from their parents. The society we see today, with its rising numbers of juveniles being disrespectful and committing more and more offenses, is a direct result of the destruction of the nuclear family, the lack of parents disciplining their children and teaching them right from wrong, and the heavy influence of social media on young people. This incident would have never happened if these teenagers had been taught not to be disrespectful to their elders, and if they hadn’t been initially instigating a confrontation with the defendant so they could post it to social media for “clout”, hoping it would go viral. It went viral alright, just not in the way those teenagers imagined. Back in my day, if we saw an older man looking for something, we would have offered to help him, not start bullying him and calling him a r*pist. That’s a horrible accusation to make against someone you don’t know.

The fact that AJ survived this will always amaze me. He didn't just sustain an injury that technically should have been fatal, but it also took the first responders awhile to get to him. (Understandably. He was in a freakin' river. He wasn't easily accessible.) It must have felt like forever. Bless everyone who helped him. They saved his life.
This was ten minutes long, and as far as I can see there are only two cops, and there is no control of anything in this video. Also, this video shows nothing disturbing, not sure why the judge would say that to the jury.
Technically, what this judge did by saying that is essentially telling the jury to withhold evidence, which could be good enough for a mistrial. Not sure if anyone has really caught that yet, besides the public. I'm sure they will 'let it slide' though.. pffff

I’ve seen the video. If the older man hit the woman first as the video suggests, it is the reason they all started hitting him. If the older man didn’t hit the woman, it is a case of him being assaulted as a response to him being physically confrontational and not communicating while people approach you which is also confrontational. One scenario is physical confrontation while the other is physically violent. Either way, it is excessive force. Manslaughter or murder will be the outcome for the old man as taking a knife out and slashing people in an indiscriminate manner is excessive force.

As an adult, someone with brain cells and critical thinking will think twice about trying to start issues with a GROUP of threatened teenagers, who are also clearly drunk. Whether or not they do not have empathy, neither did he when he decided to gut a kid because his ego was hurt. He was not seriously hurt and could have easily avoided this encounter. He could have asked them for help looking for that phone rather than pushing them out of the way, blaming them, and insulting them. Both parties were wrong, but the only adult involved handled that horribly.

Does the footage show that he was in fear of his life? Nobody pulls out a deadly weapon unannounced and starts stabbing without first trying to escape or run. Was he shouting in fear? All his aggression prior to the incident does not help his case.

I am a Registered Nurse and when dealing with victims of severe accidents you are to speak slowly and confidently, and your manner reassures the victim that they are OK and that you know what you are doing. This woman cannot have been a trained nurse, screeching at him like that, it was dreadful to witness.

I can understand her wanting to keep AJ aware and yes, it is annoying as all get out. For me, it isn't her wanting to keep AJ awake and talking, it is just the sound of her voice. More a shriek. I was watching the trial yesterday and I swear the judge is all for the prosecution. Everything the defense did was sustained, and the calls on the prosecution by the defense were overruled.

He said he’d been close to death before & the same thing happened. This likely explains why she was yelling at him loudly. He couldn’t hear them well if at all. I have heard that same kind of voice in the hospital in the room where patients are taken after surgery. I wanted to yell "shut up!" at one of the nurses because she was so annoying trying to wake a guy up.

Couldn't be more wrong ... As a biologist and having worked in the biomedical field for decades . Your hearing , is one of the last senses to fade ( depending on the injury) . That's why you talk loud and repeatedly , to someone who could be possibly dying . Keeping the brain neurons firing via hearing is a powerful tool . Talking loudly and touching the face , is highly suggested in a bleed out situation. Even in a hospice death , telling the loved ones to shout " I love you " or another parting phrase isn't unheard of . Shout your loved ones out of this life . If you want them to know you're by their side. I've seen patients faces change to a smile . While their loved ones were hollering their goodbyes . Google it . Our hearing is usually the last sense that goes during the dying process .

The injuries are irrelevant to the trial as horrific they maybe. The question is, was it self defense? Did the guy feel his life was in danger when the stabbing began? The injuries are what they are all after the fact. The video begins after the original 6 began the harassment. They say he said he was looking for little girls even tho no little girls were in that group. Who really believes a pedo will approach 6 drunk teenagers asking for little girls? I don’t. Next was the 2 group who arrived. They said the boys were calling for help. Yet that can not be heard on the video. Also the 2nd group says they can’t tell a drunk when they see one but never says the teenagers were drunk or his own kids were drunk. Then lied by omission on the stand about how much they had to drink themselves. But he sends his kids over because they were de escalators , yet his girls with him over there in his face screaming at the guy 1st. Now the guy is surrounded by about 13 drunk people. The. They want you to believe he punched the girl, which also was not on video. After the punch he gets punched, pushed down under water then punched and slapped by multiple people. Here is where I think self defense applies. Oh the girl who was punched admitted to deleting photos of her injuries that she sustained from the punch. So there is no proof that a punch even happened. No one saw it except the drunk harasser’s. I believe they are making g up a story to cover their bad behavior because of the seriousness of the injuries. The 5 boys in the original 6 all said he was looking for little girls. Not a single one of them made that statement to the police in any of the interviews they gave until a month before the trial. I just watched the entire video of the incident. These young men surrounded the older man yelling,taunting and screaming at him. They shoved him, put his head in the water and continued to harrasa him. That video is quite disturbing what they were doing to him. Terrible all the way around.
If this is what you saw, you did NOT watch the video. Did you watch the entire video of the murderer's police interrogation and the video from when they had him in the back of the cruiser at the scene? Both are filled with lies and in the back of the cruiser he pretended he knew nothing about the incident and told the LEO that he had 'heard that someone got stabbed and I look like the suspect'. An innocent person convinced of their right to self defense would not be that liar.
To be honest, based on what has been made public thus far, this whole incident can largely be attributed a bunch of wild teens who have likely lived most of their life without consequences. I don't know their backgrounds but if I had to guess, I would bet many of them come from comfortable familt backgrounds and were raised with their noses tilted upward with lips coated in silver. All parties involved could have handled their circumstances differently to be certain, the man was largely outnumbered and they were going above and beyond to swat at the hornets nest. It's not surprising that they felt they sting of his blade as a consequence. If someone constantly provokes a dog, it is only matter of time until they attack. Humans are no different. Shameful on all accounts but I certainly place much of the blame on the young adults.

It sucks that the kid died, but it was self-defense. The kid punched the man in the face then throttled the man's neck and tried to force his head under water. If you attack me with sufficient violence that you cause me to fear for my life, your right to life is forfeit. The death could easily have been the other way round. The older man had not long had triple heart surgery; they pushed him over and into the water, tried to pull his trunks down shouted taunts, egged each other on. 13 against 1 . They could have ended up drowning him or given him such a scare that he had another heart atttack.

Normally jury selection will include questions such as "Are you ok with graphic evidence?", assuming that's the case here. If a juror were to avert their eyes significantly (to the point where the judge feels that they have not viewed the evidence), they would probably be dismissed and possibly held in contempt if they had previously indicated they were ok with viewing it.

I’m 53. I grew up in the 70’s and 80’s. Even as teenagers, when children tend to be more rebellious and run their mouth off foolishly, we respected our elders. Back then, teachers might have had a disrespectful student here and there, but for the most part, their students were respectful and followed the teacher’s instructions. If we hadn’t been respectful, and done as we were told, our parents would have been notified, and back then, kids KNEW what that meant. We were more concerned about the punishment from our parents than we were from any other authority figure. As a result, we didn’t have a large part of the youth in society acting like a bunch of hoodlums. We didn’t have school sh**tings, we didn’t have cops patrolling the school every day, we could go hang out with our friends at the mall without worrying about a bunch of kids getting into a fight, and one of them pulling out a g*n and firing. All of these things began in the 90’s, when the campaign against a parent’s right to discipline their child resulted in many parents being fearful of doing so. There was a lot of promotion of techniques like “time out” for parents disciplining their children. The problem is, children are individuals, and a specific technique for disciplining them is not going to work for all of them. When I did something really bad, something that would get progressively worse and be repeated if I didn’t suffer harsh enough consequences to make me not want to do that again, I got my tail whooped. If I did it again, I got my tail tore up again. Spanking your child’s butt for something they did wrong, to cause them to pause and think before doing it again, is NOT the same as parents who beat on their children for no purpose, who are intentionally trying to inflict bodily harm on them. Spanking isn’t going to work on teenagers, BUT, if you have been disciplining your children from the start, your children will already know the difference between right and wrong when they’re teenagers, and they are not going to be as likely to do things they know will result in negative consequences.
Even for the most hardheaded of children, if they have a severe negative consequence for something bad they did, it will eventually kick in that if they stop doing that bad thing, so will the consequences of doing it vanish. When I disobeyed my parents without any real consequences, I would usually do it again. This is just human nature. It’s within our very nature to be rebellious. Also in the 90’s, a lot of parents stopped parenting altogether, choosing to let technology raise their children instead. The result of all of that is the surge today in children who are committing more crimes, who have no respect for ANY authority whatsoever, and who have this narcissistic sense of self-entitlement that makes them think they can do whatever they want, to whoever they want, and nobody is going to stop them, or hold them accountable. Another factor in this whole scenario is the lack of a dad in many American homes. There used to be no phrase that struck fear in the heart of a child who had been caught doing something wrong than, “You just wait until your daddy gets home and finds out what you did”. If I was misbehaving, my parents could stop me in my tracks with just a look. That is a well disciplined child, when they can be corrected with just a look from their parents. The society we see today, with its rising numbers of juveniles being disrespectful and committing more and more offenses, is a direct result of the destruction of the nuclear family, the lack of parents disciplining their children and teaching them right from wrong, and the heavy influence of social media on young people. This incident would have never happened if these teenagers had been taught not to be disrespectful to their elders, and if they hadn’t been initially instigating a confrontation with the defendant so they could post it to social media for “clout”, hoping it would go viral. It went viral alright, just not in the way those teenagers imagined. Back in my day, if we saw an older man looking for something, we would have offered to help him, not start bullying him and calling him a r*pist. That’s a horrible accusation to make against someone you don’t know.

This was ten minutes long, and as far as I can see there are only two cops, and there is no control of anything in this video. Also, this video shows nothing disturbing, not sure why the judge would say that to the jury.

I’ve seen the video. If the older man hit the woman first as the video suggests, it is the reason they all started hitting him. If the older man didn’t hit the woman, it is a case of him being assaulted as a response to him being physically confrontational and not communicating while people approach you which is also confrontational. One scenario is physical confrontation while the other is physically violent. Either way, it is excessive force. Manslaughter or murder will be the outcome for the old man as taking a knife out and slashing people in an indiscriminate manner is excessive force.

He could have asked them for help looking for that phone rather than pushing them out of the way, blaming them, and insulting them. Both parties were wrong, but the only adult involved handled that horribly.

Does the footage show that he was in fear of his life? Nobody pulls out a deadly weapon unannounced and starts stabbing without first trying to escape or run. Was he shouting in fear? All his aggression prior to the incident does not help his case.

I can understand her wanting to keep AJ aware and yes, it is annoying as all get out. For me, it isn't her wanting to keep AJ awake and talking, it is just the sound of her voice. More a shriek. Her voice is incredibly annoying on the regular. LOL. I breathe very shallowly and I have had several surgeries. I have always been driven to distraction by the nurses in the recovery room calling out to me to take deeper breaths.

I was watching the trial yesterday and I swear the judge is all for the prosecution. Everything the defense did was sustained, and the calls on the prosecution by the defense were overruled.

😂 I partially agree but I watched the victim’s testimony. Turns out when you’re dying you start to lose the senses you don’t need, i.e. hearing. He said he’d been close to death before & the same thing happened. This likely explains why she was yelling at him loudly. He couldn’t hear them well if at all. I’m sure it was also hard for him to go unconscious if he was hearing it at all 😅🥴
I have heard that same kind of voice in the hospital in the room where patients are taken after surgery. I wanted to yell "shut up!" at one of the nurses because she was so annoying trying to wake a guy up.
I was in the E.R. bleeding out and my sister says I was "Mean" cuz one guy keep talking to me loud like this "Awesome lady!"

Couldn't be more wrong ... As a biologist and having worked in the biomedical field for decades . Your hearing , is one of the last senses to fade ( depending on the injury) . That's why you talk loud and repeatedly , to someone who could be possibly dying . Keeping the brain neurons firing via hearing is a powerful tool . Talking loudly and touching the face , is highly suggested in a bleed out situation. Even in a hospice death , telling the loved ones to shout " I love you " or another parting phrase isn't unheard of . Shout your loved ones out of this life . If you want them to know you're by their side. I've seen patients faces change to a smile . While their loved ones were hollering their goodbyes . Google it . Our hearing is usually the last sense that goes during the dying process .

The injuries are irrelevant to the trial as horrific they maybe. The question is, was it self defense? Did the guy feel his life was in danger when the stabbing began? The injuries are what they are all after the fact. The video begins after the original 6 began the harassment. They say he said he was looking for little girls even tho no little girls were in that group. Who really believes a pedo will approach 6 drunk teenagers asking for little girls? I don’t. Next was the 2 group who arrived. They said the boys were calling for help. Yet that can not be heard on the video. Also the 2nd group says they can’t tell a drunk when they see one but never says the teenagers were drunk or his own kids were drunk. Then lied by omission on the stand about how much they had to drink themselves. But he sends his kids over because they were de escalators , yet his girls with him over there in his face screaming at the guy 1st. Now the guy is surrounded by about 13 drunk people. The. They want you to believe he punched the girl, which also was not on video. After the punch he gets punched, pushed down under water then punched and slapped by multiple people. Here is where I think self defense applies. Oh the girl who was punched admitted to deleting photos of her injuries that she sustained from the punch. So there is no proof that a punch even happened. No one saw it except the drunk harasser’s. I believe they are making g up a story to cover their bad behavior because of the seriousness of the injuries. The 5 boys in the original 6 all said he was looking for little girls. Not a single one of them made that statement to the police in any of the interviews they gave until a month before the trial. Hmmmm not guilty
Being harassed is being in a situation that you cannot walk away from. Harassment at work. People coming to your home and harassing you. Being harassed on public transportation and your stop is 20 minutes away. It would've took that old man 10 seconds to walk back onto shore and catch up with his friends. He wanted a reason to use that knife. He stabbed a little ass female. Please.

I just watched the entire video of the incident. These young men surrounded the older man yelling,taunting and screaming at him. They shoved him, put his head in the water and continued to harrasa him. That video is quite disturbing what they were doing to him. Terrible all the way around.
If this is what you saw, you did NOT watch the video. Did you watch the entire video of the murderer's police interrogation and the video from when they had him in the back of the cruiser at the scene? Both are filled with lies and in the back of the cruiser he pretended he knew nothing about the incident and told the LEO that he had 'heard that someone got stabbed and I look like the suspect'. An innocent person convinced of their right to self defense would not be that liar.
To be honest, based on what has been made public thus far, this whole incident can largely be attributed a bunch of wild teens who have likely lived most of their life without consequences. I don't know their backgrounds but if I had to guess, I would bet many of them come from comfortable familt backgrounds and were raised with their noses tilted upward with lips coated in silver. All parties involved could have handled their circumstances differently to be certain, the man was largely outnumbered and they were going above and beyond to swat at the hornets nest. It's not surprising that they felt they sting of his blade as a consequence. If someone constantly provokes a dog, it is only matter of time until they attack. Humans are no different. Shameful on all accounts but I certainly place much of the blame on the young adults.
Kids who have no respect for anyone or anything. They learned a lesson that day that none of them will ever forget.

flex tape saved my brothers life. He took a hatchet to his shin while chopping wood and he was 40 minutes away from the nearest hospital. Flex tap stopped the bleeding.

It sucks that the kid died, but it was self-defense. The kid punched the man in the face then throttled the man's neck and tried to force his head under water. If you attack me with sufficient violence that you cause me to fear for my life, your right to life is forfeit. Like I said, it's sad that someone died, but he made that choice when he attacked a man who was only looking for his phone.

The kids backed off for a second and then came in reaching for the guys neck again. That's when he got shanked. Nicolae Miu is guilty and rightfully so. Kids can be assholes but they did not deserve that. The prosecution clarified it correctly that miu is a liar and was an intelligent liar. He could have just walked away. It’s mind blowing there are so many comments defending him.
This whole thing is so terrible. I’m a critical care paramedic who is responsible for airlifting and caring for patients like this. It’s horrible. This kid went into cardiac arrest twice. It’s a miracle he’s alive with no brain damage from being down for so long.

The death could easily have been the other way round. The older man had not long had triple heart surgery; they pushed him over and into the water, tried to pull his trunks down shouted taunts, egged each other on. 13 against 1 . They could have ended up drowning him or given him such a scare that he had another heart atttack.
