- Adventure Time Distant Lands returns with a third special that arguably blows Come Along with Me out of the water, as Finn and Jake reunite in the afterlife. Together Again feels like the true finale of the Cartoon Network series that's amassed millions of fans over the last 10 years. This special, is perfect.

I read a comment somewhere that speculated that each Death' tool is a reflection of how they view the concept of death.
Old Death's tool was a zen rake, signifying death as an opportunity for calm reflection on one's past life before reincarnating.
New Death's tool was a scythe, a weapon. He wanted death to be something feared and respected. HE wanted to be feared and respected. I'm sure the Lich's desire to cut down all life now and forever was an influence in that as well.
And Mr. Death's tool is a pillow. For him, death is a chance to have a peaceful rest. For him, you just lead a hopefully long, possibly hard life, and then you flippin' died. You deserve a break.

I say that Together Again is a masterpiece. Seeing Adventure time during my high School years and even now, Finn and Jake definitely brought their arc to a close. Nothing can ever separate them cause they will always be brothers forever.

I just love the fact that even tho the lich can turn into any version of his past self he just chose to be Jake's freaking Hand lelz.
I mean he can hide himself in new deaths glove so it would be better for him to be a hand
I mean they are in the world of the dead and theoretically the lich is still alive inside of Sweet pea and the hand is just pure lich.
Or maybe this is another version of the lich’s hand that came to the afterlife through the multiverse pool in the crossover episode.

I think the series finale was a good way to end the show's "world", but wasn't a good way to end Finn and Jake as characters. Together Again was a fantastic finale for Finn and Jake and I was so much more satisfied with it than the series finale.

I see the old finale as more of a way to tie loose ends. The whole thing was more focused on the plot, the war of the candy kingdoms, Betty's plan and Fern's fate.
it connects to the finale come along with me since Shermy and Beth are later reincarnations of Finn and Jake. It's already a foregone conclusion to begin with.

Then Crisis on Infinite Earths came along. They didn't die; that's actually the problem. Golden Age Hawks and Silver Age Hawks both survived.

Well, they are not always brothers. They once were Shoko and a tiger, and they will become a cat (or a cat-like creature) and the Pup Princess. They might had been reincarnating together since the beginning of time. Sometimes brothers, sometimes not. I like the term "soul bros" though.
I love Together Again. It’s a beautiful, yet tragic special that definitely feels like a more proper send off for the series than Come Along with Me. It was great using the memory segment at the beginning to throw us for a loop as we try to figure out when it takes place only for the reality to set in with the title card being the final nail in the coffin. I had mixed emotions throughout the entire special because Finn and Jake were dead, no ifs, ands, or buts. At the same time, it was great just seeing them interact with all the different characters, particularly their parents; who they couldn’t interact with in the show since they already died, outside of flashbacks. The whole series practically foreshadowed this finale too with all the hints of Jake’s death in the show. While Come Along with Me is a serviceable finale, Together Again is just a more satisfying conclusion and I would gladly rewatch it over Come Along with Me any day.

But even then if Betty removes his crown Betty tried to accept ice King and she did but then patience used her as a battery and the elemental series started, which then she got the hold of the enchiridion which she eventually managed to summon golb with
“Because it’s great being alive with you” what a beautiful way to finish Finn and Jake’s story.
I’m kinda upset that I didn’t get to see billy in the afterlife but the litch king was more than enough to bring back nostalgia
For a show that literally has "With Finn & Jake" in the title you'd think they would be the focus in the original series finale. But they weren't.
Together Again, however, is a more satisfyingly pleasing finale. To quote Come Along With Me, which fits this finale well, "All of my collections
, I'll share them all with you. I'll be here for you always, and always be with you"

that's why i kinda hate how they only make 1 episode featuring finn and jake on distant lands, i don't understand why would they create 2 special episodes [distant lands] dedicated to a character that has no showtime at all on the original series. such a waste on the budget.

But with that set, I feel that the ending of Finn and Jake story was a little shallow, I don't know why, but I felt that it was missing something, and then I realized that it was meant to be like this, a simple and poetic way to end their (and ours) chapter, and is beautiful.
Thank you Finn and Jake/creators, writers and everyone else that participate in this amazing journey, to be a great part of my, and so many others, life.
I'm still unsatisfied that Finn never got to reunite with his biological parents in the afterlife.

@@Muhammad_Nuruddin his father became a god somewhere in the universe by the end of ss6 so I dont think he will come to the death world. And his mother, while her body died, her counciousness live on through the minervabot and if we are to assume that she continue to function after finn's death then I dont think her spirit has come to the death world yet.
So with all of that, each of them find their own way to live forever, it's very unlikely that Finn will reunite with them in the death world.
Who knows maybe they’ll create a whole new story about what Finn and jack were reborn as. It could be just about anything.

Shermy is a finn reincarnation but Beth is most likely Jakes relative since a show creator revealed in a list of Jakes future relatives and Beth was one of them

This special made me so emotional, I’m so glad that Adventure Time portrayed grieve as this, something you can’t get over so easily.
“I feel like it helps make the concept of death a little less scary.” I thought I was the only one who thought this! As someone whose anxiety has gotten worse over the past couple months (I wasn’t like this before) because he’s scared of dying too soon, this episode really did a great job at making death seem not so bad.
👍 That’s why I love this show. It has so much wisdom and truth in it... to repeat myself... it is just genius. Pendleton Ward and his team crushes it.
Reincarnation and so many visualizations of the afterlife are very positive. You just continue on trying to make things a little better each time. A lot more soothing (and makes more sense to me) than the majority of people are going to burn and face extreme suffering.

I just recently finished watching Adventure Time and now one more episode until distant lands is over. This show is amazing and as a new fan I really hope their will be more in the future!

considering he was aware of his past lives after he dies i think that they recollect all of their memories when they die
The main assumption is that only special people like Finn get to reincarnate. He was either the comet or chosen by the comet to reincarnate and that death keeps those that are not supposed to reincarnate out from doing so. (Obviously Mr Fox was sympathetic to Jake wanting to go back and thus didn’t stop him.)

Hopefully the creators already have plans for another series after the wizard special.

I haven't experienced a death of a love one, but I have experience the conclusion of this show, which felt like a loved one, which is why this special meant so much to me, and why it feels like a proper finale.
I personally have the theory that Finn and Jake are a bonded pair of souls, constantly reincarnating together at the end of their lifespans, my reasoning is because I consider the bonded pair we see Life make bodies for when the duo first meet her was foreshadowing

At the very very least i can tell that the creator’s truly loved this show from this episode alone and they put their hearts into it. One of the moments in together again that i love is when finn is talking to mr fox and starts doing the clapping code that jake made back in s5 that you would’ve taken that as a joke way back then but the call back is so wholesome and sad at the same time cuz finn remembers it and was going to try and find jake with it. Just a small couple a seconds of the ep the entire ep was amazing I can’t not see it being one of the best eps in the entire series

I CRIED LIKE A BABY WHEN I WATCHED IT. BOTH HAPPY AND SAD TEARS. I was totally in with the ride of adventure time, feeling like I was in the adventure too so seeing these two like this in this episode, BROKE ME.
Ya, this felt like the finale for sure. Incorporating the old intro instantly pulled at the nostalgia and when the opening credits were in the vibe of those early season misadventures it just kicked the nostalgia into high gear which made everything hit so much harder afterwards. Masterpiece.
This is the perfect ending to adventure time in my eyes so they should have definitely saved it for the last episode

I remember getting up to watch this in the morning before school. That was in year 5, and I've now finished my first year at Uni, and this show still resonates with me.
I cried at the end of this, the shows been alive since I was a lil kid how fast time does fly it feels like its gonna last forever but it really doesn't in the end , please cherish your childhood.
I’m a little upset that this isn’t the finale episode of Distant Lands. It would have made perfect sense.
It was originally supposed to be (CN greenlit 3 Distant Lands specials), but Cartoon Network decided to let DL have one more special. But most official sources during the announcement went:

It's technically the series finale in production order. So there's that.
I do feel kind of bad about one thing: either Finn died alone, or he was such a terrible husband/father that he didn't put forward even one second of thought to waiting for his family in the afterlife.
He didn't even try to find his parents and other brother, and when he stumbled on them by accident he barely spent any time with them.
Most likely, knowing Finn, he never had a family considering his luck at trying to date women. If he did then he most likely isnt worried about them as much, he probably raised them the same way he was, with absolute freedom to do as they pleased (remember that Finn was 13 at season 1).
Hes most likely made peace with those he knew who died too, at least those who were close to him. His parents, Joshua and Margaret, died way before the show started and Jermaine is pretty chill with them and had his own life so they werent particularly close.
Im pretty sure Finn seeing as he lived a pretty long life and had his fair share of killing, knows that everyone dies eventually. They still say goodbye to them in the end though.
The entire thing was about Finn and Jakes special bond with each other. Those two are as thick as thieves and have been with each other since Finn was Shoko and Jake was her white tiger, and maybe even further back.
Why would he? His parents wouldn't be there and he never had a connection to any family besides the dogs. Jake was the person he lived with since he was a baby, they went to though everything together.

When I saw this I thought no matter were you are that bond that you had with a pet, family members or a friend you know they are always wait ting to reunite with you .
new death wasn't really evil the Lich was messing with his brains and his dad wasn't communicating with him properly to help him with his angst.
When finn said he lost his purpose to live after jake died made me cry my eyes out. This truly was an amazing ending.
He never lost his purpose, hence the line "you had plenty of other things to live for, right?" But everything he lived for after was shadowed by his desire to reunite with his brother

My Question is how did Jake really die? The beginning is Finns brain going through his happy memories. The ice King is still the ice king and fin doesn't even have his metal arm. When he fists bumps Jake it even makes a metal sound that he's confused about.
i honestly found it extremely wholesome from a person who lost a really close pet, this episode concept was extremely close to the feeling when someone dies. deep down i wanna die faster so i can see him again.
I almost shed a tear when watching this episode and that is a personal sign to me that that it’s FANTASTIC ☺️👍

the ending kinda reminded my of teen titans and how they really just focused around beast by as if no one else existed accept the opposite here were they focused on everyone as if finn and jake didnt exist

I literally just saw the episode a couple of minutes before writing this and I can say that it was a genuine emotional roller coaster. The only problem I have is that in the beginning Jake’s seatbelt is taken off of Finn in a second but that’s about it. This truly was a proper Viking burning floating 1000 horns and all send off. Adam really put his heart into this and you can tell because of the plethora of references he makes in the episode. Personally this episode hit hard as I lost both my dog and my cat. But seeing this just made me think that they wouldn’t want me to feel sad about them being gone but be happy of the memories we made. (Sorry if this comment is too long but this final hit me in my heart like a freight train)
Together again was incredible ending for their story it was heartwarming and beautiful was very nostalgic. I feel so great to see fin in his first appearance and dealing with death man powerful
This hit just as hard as the series finale and rewatching the show makes series hit HARDER than before. Adventure Time will easily go down as one of the greatest series of all time.
Ever watch demon slayer? It gives a similar impact but it will make you sad at times, just not as much as adventure time

This special had me tearing up a bit as it gave me the thought of seeing my abuelo in the afterlife, I barely got to know him as he passed when I was 8
Honestly, I feel the characters were perfectly done in the original ending, it really felt perfect for me. For me, Finn and Jake weren't the main characters, nobody was, every character was so well done and at the end all of them grew so much. It was a sad ending, we would never see them again, but it closed it off perfectly. I feel the mystery of not knowing what would happen next is better than the reincarnation story, because Finn hadn't changed, in his old age he wasn't wise, and wasn't the type of character I would've wanted him to become. I enjoyed the episode nonetheless.
And props to this show for being the only show that made me cry several times.
The greatness of this final reminds me of ATLA. Chills 🙏

I just lost my dog, my companion, my best friend not 2 weeks ago, and than I watched this episode. This is almost unbearable, but also heartwarming to see. I was so divided it phisically hurted. In the end I just hope the afterlife thing is exactly like this. I feel exactly like Finn, living just for the habit of it, just waiting for the day I can see him again; the momment he says it, it was a stab in the heart.
My brother named John Carl Castaños died in August 21-27 2019 and he loved adventure time more than anyone and he missed a series named "Adventure Time: Together Again" Man I wish my 21 year old brother is still alive and watch this series for the last time...

I cried for 20 minutes in my room after hearing that adventure time ended before I could finish it. It had a really big impact on my life and it felt like I lost part of myself. After watching this I can’t help but tear up again and I’m really trying to stop myself from making any sound
When we meet her in the episode Life notes that a pair of souls are a "Package deal" and sends them through to life together. I like to think she knows Finn and Jake because she recognises them as the two souls that Always come and go together.
It was great seeing them again for the first time in closely 3 years since the original series Adventure Time ended on September 3rd, 2018.
The ending actually had me in tears
The episode together again was emotional seeing tree trunks dead and mr pig for some reason i was tearing up, and seeing Finn and jake dead it made me sad because they had to leave BMO behind by his self, and the line “deep down I just kept waiting till i see you again” it reminded me of all the family members that died
Nah I literally cried when Jake started melting. It was so good and I felt so happy seeing the old characters, it was so funny seeing Tiffany
I now believe this is what the real afterlife is like
They should do this for Steven Universe. Show the war. Show us what Steven doing. And bring up the chess. Or Rebecca could atleast answer some questions that went unanswered.

I saw someone bring this up but I like how death is potrayed differently for each character who holds the title. In the original one its shown as orderly in the lich its shown as brutal and ruthless and for the new death its shown as rest.

Finn breaking down and calling out Jakes name there in the begining absolutely broke me tho
This special was an amazing grab for my attention, after accepting the end of AT I was ready to move on but this special grabbed me and pulled me back in for more, this special moved me more than come along with me and everything before it, when Jake reappeared for the first time the tears just exploded from my eyes. Adventure Time is worth watching just for this finale alone.
Has anyone also noticed that when Pepp Butt was summoned by Finn & Jake, he made a reverse spell while he was shivering on the floor. He said "Kee Oth Rama Pancake" which is a spell Jake's dad says to banish Kee-Oth aka the Demon who owns the Demon Blood Sword.
Well that was a letdown breakdown. Thought it'd be more in depth than that.

we know that the hand is a second lich that came from that alternate reality where Finn went insane because of the crown, so before the Hand Lich died there actually were two liches in the same reality.
The thing is, if the Hand lich could make it into the after life despite being from another reality, and the hand lich was copied infinitely and sent into all the alt realities as shown in "Crossover"
Does that mean that every single one of these Liches in alternate realities can make it into the same afterlife that the hand lich did?
This show has always ment alot to me growing up, and seeing it filled me with so many conflicting emotions that it was hard to see it end, because it felt like the end of show that brought us all laughs, suspense, and tugging on the heartstrings
This episode gave me the feels
I wasn't satisfied with Come along with me being the finale. I'll definitely consider together again the finale.
I love this show so much that I am going to rewatch the whole series for the 3rd time
