It's so beautiful but that would drive me absolutely nuts if it was like 1 in the morning but still looked like 1 in the afternoon. Also, do stores close like normal or are they open 24/7 during these times

Used to travel this road twice a day during the school year. When I was a child in the early seventies, my family lived on Murphy Dome for 3 years in the civilian apartment building - my father was an FAA technician who worked in the tower while it was still an active AF Station. The dozen or so Dome kids were bused to school in Fairbanks. During the winter, snow would completely cover the building’s roof & we would have ice caves form outside the windows due to the heat inside. There were strict rules for notifications when traveling on or off the Dome, so that a “rescue party” could be sent out if your vehicle (or the school bus) got stuck somewhere along the road & we had to be prepared for the road to be closed for extended periods, trapping us either on the Dome or down in Fairbanks (both happened more than once, as did the bus getting stuck). We lived above the clouds & truly experienced the midnight sun, as well as wonderful auroras! Sunset & sunrise blended together in the middle of summer for several weeks due to the Dome’s altitude.
