Which is pretty much what it's designed for - it's a large car which can perform when it finds itself in hostile conditions (so long as the electronics last) not a small truck designed to live way off road with an occasional trip into town. JLR has designed it for exactly the scenario you describe.

I see comments from people claiming that no one will use the full capabilities of the Defender. I beg to differ! Its not about how often you take it off the beaten path and trash it around. Its all about the ability to go thru floodwaters, to thick snow or mud or whatever else when nature throws up its tantrums. Ive seen many a German AWD stuck in 12 inches of water or a little bit of snow on a steep driveway. Its moments like these you think "that's why I bought a Defender"!

Great truck. The only issue I found weird is that huge plastic box the front seats are anchored to the floor. Prevents stretching your legs a bit. Wish they would find a way to anchor the seats another way or shorten how much that thing protrudes out front a bit
I used to be a parts manager for dealer with multiple brands including Rover. We had a guy who owned a steel mill who said if he went to a Counry Club in his old Peugeot he got frowned on but pull up in his beat up Land Rover and he was treated like Royalty 😀
I think that official MSRP is actually lower than X7, or even X5, but if you don't want to wait six months or even a year (depending on model or country you live in), you're probably gonna have to pay more then for a BMW X series.
I think it needs to be clear just how much more off-roading gear the 4WD Defender comes with as opposed to an AWD X5. There are also far more Defenders running around from the 1970s as opposed to X5s from the 2000s. Besides that Land Rover as a product encompassing LR and Range Rover have always been the next level up from the German trio.The germans are now (in 2022) more about bling (fancy led lights, chrome, seat stitching, funny grilles and etc) and not quite real hardware and subscription based options (you want heated seats or internet or rear wheel steering ... sure thing here's your monthly bill)
Land Rover Defender should keep the old form. And give this beautifull car a new name. Land Rover Defender vs Land Rover Midfielder or Land Rover Attacker.

The video is great but I would suggest putting another soundtrack because this one didn't match the images. If they were slower images maybe it would work better.

It’s a shame Land Rover / Range Rover don’t concentrate on reliability rather than ever more complex vehicles. I still love them though !
