Personally, I think it'd be really fun to see you do this type of video on Thorn, Scarlet, Sundew and Tamarin. They all have pretty unique personalities that I desperately wished were discussed about more!
This is gonna be good! Deathbringer is probably the most involved character of Arc 1 other than the 5 protagonists. And his Winglet: Assassin was such an amazing story that explained his origins so well!
Edit in case anyone is still here Deathbringer and Glory is an official ship that Tui herself confirmed and they later had a dragonet named Firefly. She also retconned the time periods of Assassin and the Dragonet Prophecy so their ages would be closer together so it's not considered pedophilia.
In Winter Turning Winter said that Deathbringer was a FEW years old older than him considering Winter was 5 and a few years mean 2-3 it means that Deathbringer was around 7-8 Its a shame Charcoal is this uninformated about Tuis error in Deathbringer's age mistake
That logic you're misinformed (not uninformated) given Winglet Assassin - his short book - claims Deathbringer's age is "four", second time emphasized by his mentor Quickstrike. Tui already spoke age mistake to correct, and it's been inconsistent. Winter's "few years older" overall a fine middle ground his wits sharp and plenty brevity
The Glorybringer age gap is 100% a writing mistake The only pedo in WoF ended up electrocuted to death and is the single least liked character in the whole series because Tui literally wrote him as unlikable as possible Plus, there is no consistency with dragon aging and the age gap ranged from 15 and 37 to 18 and 20 (the highest and lowest ages I've seen of each character) Age is very correlated to size in many cases, like Morrowseer being absolutely huge compared to the others, and Deathbringer is around the same size as Starflight in Arc 1 (not to mention Deathbringer being called a dragonet in Arc 1) But yeah, Tui should just reprint it
The reason Tui hasn’t reprinted it is because it would mess up the time of the books. For example, Assassin and Deserter occur around the same time, so if Assassin happened a couple years later so would Deserter. And since Assassin took place 2 years before The Brightest Night, then if both Assassin and Deserter were moved forward a couple years then Dune would have still been in Burn’s army at the time the dragonets of destiny hatched
Personally, I like the ship for what it is intended to be, just two dragons loving each other I try to ignore the age gap, but I know that Tui didn’t intentionally make it that big, it was accidental Plus I love how opposite they are from each other, Glory is serious and acts rationally while DeathBringer is a spunky guy.
I also like this couple, but I find it strange how they infantilized Deathbringer. Sometimes it seems that the one who was 6 was actually him and the one who was 12/13 was Glory 💀
The sad part is that the Glorybringer age gap is a mistake that Tui CAN'T take back In order for Sunny to be the SandWing Dragonet of Destiny, Dune had to be in the Scorpion Den when she was an egg In order for Dune to be in the Scorpion Den when she was an egg, Six-Claws would have to take him there In order for Six-Claws to take him there, Deathbringer would have to convince him to leave Burns army In order for that to work, Deathbringer would have to be older than the DoD or else the timeline is fucked!
I find the fact the Author didn't admit to her mistake & just made an excuse and didn't even mention trying to fix it, more disturbing than Grolybringer itself.
I love if you can do sundew, whiteout, tamarin, and cricket, the four of them are pretty interesting characters, and these are my personal for favourites
7:17 this is such an important thing to remember when writing. Shiping can be appealing, but it's important to remember that people are able to care about eachother without being romantically interested/involved with eachother.
You are free to have your own opinions on the subject. There's nothing I can say about that. However, I have three points I would like to make. I hope that they may allow you to enjoy this ship as much as I do. Firstly, I think you may have made an error in your calculations of Deathbringer's age in human years. Glorybringer is my favorite ship because of the dynamic of the two characters and how well they fit together. As you can probably guess, this has gotten me into several conversations/arguments with different people in the fandom on this subject. This has led me into doing very extensive research on the different dragon ages and their ages in human years. I have discovered multiple evaluations and results that have placed Deathbringer's age at the time of meeting Glory anywhere from 20 to 35 in human years. My point is that you can't really convert them into a human age by years, but you can convert them into a human age by stage: infant (still being nursed on their mother's milk), toddler (starts displaying signs of basic motor functions and communication skills), child (beginning to show signs of intuition and problem solving skills), teenager (beginning to go through puberty, starting to feel independent), young adult (capable of making difficult decisions on their own, becoming fully responsible over their life), adult (starting your own family), elder (at this point, you're pretty much finishing up your bucket list). The exact point change stages is so blurred it's pretty much impossible to tell. At one point you just realize that you fully transitioned by now to the next stage in life and you're no longer what you once were. You might not even be sure when you made this transition. You said there was only roughly a 4 year age-gap when Glory and Deathbringer first met. Is there really that much of an age-gap in between them? This is made even more complicated when you consider that Glory was at the end of one of these stages in life. I think the more appropriate course of action in figuring out whether or not this would be considered an appropriate relationship would be to look at other relationships in the fandom, specifically, the ones between adults. What's the age gap between Tsunami's parents, let's say? How about Moon's parents? What about other marriages that exist in the series? Compare these to Glory and Deathbringer. This will be much easier and more accurate because you can stick to Dragon years, which are definite in the series, as opposed to human years, which would just be speculation and loose estimation from the fandom. Secondly, the legal age for "relations" is different everywhere. Tui was born in Venezuela, where the legal age is 16. She currently lives in Boston, where the legal age is also 16. In fact, 16 is the most common legal age world wide. Remember when I said that I did extensive research? This included asking not one, not two, but THREE Boston attorneys if a relationship between a 21 year old and a 17 year old is pedophilia, and all three responded with the same answer: It's legal, if inadvisable. Basically, while not kosher, Glorybringer isn't pedophilia. As if that wasn't enough, we don't know how aging even works with dragons. Their maturity cycle and development cycle could be on a completely different ratio than ours. This is why comparing them to other couples and sticking to dragon years is more accurate. Finally, there's also the admittedly cheap, but still relevant argument of the ship being canon. Moon has a vision at the end of the sixth book in which multiple dragonets are hanging out at the academy. Tui confirmed one of these dragonets to be the child of Deathbringer and Glory. This is an unsatisfying argument since it's essentially a child's argument of "but mama said", but I feel like the canon material should hold some authority on the matter. So there you go. I would love to hear your thoughts on these points, particularly the first one. Please respond, and have a great day!
Not to mention the age gap only appeared later, when tui was making Deathbringer’s backstory. She just didn’t calculate the age right. When she initially wrote them, there was no age gap
if the canon says the beast is an adult at 7 then theyre an adult at 7. thats alot of words to say you wanna support an uninteresting bland pedophilic ship

Honestly, I don't think Glorybringers respective ages are that bad. I at first thought that Glory would be 17, as you said, and Deathbringer was about 38. But I think that, while 17 and 22 is pedocriminality, 18 and 24, I find more acceptable. I personally know a married couple where the husband is 78ish and the wife 20. That is sick, and I wouldn't like to see that un a book. However, I think that while it is a little stretch, a 6 year gap is acceptable.
Interesting that the first character analisis is one of the more polarizing characters in the series. Also, didn't he also show up in Dragonslayer kinda helping out Wren?
Honestly, I have 0 issue with the age gap. since dragons can actually live way more than just 100, also the fact they slowdown in terms of aging after adulthood. Their Society is different and it's the same one where Anemone was being forced by her mother to marry Whirlpool the second she was going to become an Adult(He would've been Elderly by then) (Rest in piss you won't be missed). Also 15-17 actually is the age of consent for some countries (Since some people actually reach Adulthood much earlier than others, in both physical and mental maturity) so using the argument based off humans is invalid. By your opinion is your opinion
I wish Deathbringer became king of the RainWings and NightWings in the second arc. I think personally think the age gap is less problematic than the power imbalance simply because Glory treats Deathbringer like a pet. Either way, it’s not a healthy relationship (I do not condone pedophilia, I just feel that more people should talk about the power imbalance between them)
For the sake of not provoking an internet rant I will not be mentioning my feelings about glorybringer in this comment instead I'm just going to be questioning why did you not mention murder basket
Isn’t peril 10 ish or something (correct me if I am wrong) and clay is same age as glory so you calculations put clay at 17 and peril at 20 ish which is better but isn’t that also a little odd?

Ok so your comparing dragons, with different ages and stuff, to humans, I think that the age of maturity, (10) is not the age of consent, and that would possibly be 6~ and well no dragons really think of that so obviously it must be fine, right?
i dont really like glory bringer too it seemed a bit rushed in my opinion and if i had to choose darkstalker x clear sight or deathbringer x glory to get cut off from the series i would choose darkstalker x glory
yes, because darksight is a major ship that shapes the series and glorybringer is just a cute side ship, but still a good ship. also you wrote darkstalker x glory and i am now disturbed-
To us Americans it does seem weird. But there is something I should point out. Tui's from Venezuela in Central America. It's implied that in that time Glory turned 7, and was technically an adult who could make up her own mind. So... really some key details are missing.
