3 Libras is another one that really showcases his talent and range as a singer. There's a live performance on Leno where you can see how much effort he puts into every syllable.
The best part of a Tool live show is the atmosphere. Nobody is talking. Everyone is paying 100% attention and embracing the moment. Maynard typically allows people to pull out their phones to record the last song: APC and Tool.
I was in the "Northern Invasion Music Festival" in Somerset, Wisconsin in 2018, and Maynard was in the back all the show, dressed like a cop, all black with a helmet and everything, and he just went at front by the end to the show to say goodbye and happy mothers day! My firt time with Tool. Love it!
For tool Tuesday I think you could find some 'Maynards best' compilations because some are hilarious. And, why not, add some little puci-circle in there 😁I can't remember watching this one live version of stinkfist tho, so I'm stoked! 🤗
Maynard sees himself as just another instrument. He likes that position next to Danny because he can see the whole band. If you watch more of them, look at how much they “communicate” during a show. They are always looking at each other.
Yep, nothing to do with stage fright as some people keep spouting. It’s all about being able to see each other on stage and sonically it’s the best position for vocals as there is minimal feedback from the drums and floor monitors
I would think at some point they would. Danny has said that they have recorded every show that they have done. So many be something on a grand scale is in the works.
I was lucky to see them early last year in Atlanta prior to COVID ramping up (also right after Kobe passed and they showed him love as well). Love the Stinkfist extended version. Ive seen them three times and still feel like yall wanting to see them!
Just know that if you want to get a ticket to one of their shows you literally have to be online ahead of time and hit refresh RIGHT when the tickets go on sale... because they sell out within minutes. Don't miss out when you get a chance. I've seen them 13 times now live.
I had the luck if seeing them right before lockdown in AZ and it was amazing! My 3rd time..... I consider myself lucky because its hard to get tickets!
And he shouldn't be. I've never understood the extreme fanning out of some fans. I've been a Tool fan since '93 and I love the band but, hanging on Keenan's every word, dissecting everything he says and acting like he's the 2nd coming? Please. He's a human being. Great singer/songwriter and frontman. Leave it at that. No wonder he called the Tool fanbase insufferable retards. The obsession borders on creepy and is way too irrational at times. Shit, I'd say the same thing too.
"Horizons" by Puscifer. It's a sort of epilogue to everything with Maynard's mother. He scattered her ashes over a section of his vineyard, and the grapes that grow in that section are what he uses to make Judith. He talks more about this in the documentary about his wine making business, "Blood Into Wine" - which you guys should also definitely check out.
The first time I saw Tool live, they opened with Stinkfist. The last time I saw them they closed with it (final encore). Very fitting for the final "official " Tool Tuesday!
There is nothing like seeing the mighty 4 live. NOTHING. I hope you guys get to experience Tool in concert. The most beautiful live experience known to man 😌😌
I saw Tool Back in 01 ? I've been to 40+ concerts over the years and Tool still is by far the best concert I've ever been to. It's unbelievable, definitely a life changing experience.
Just going through all of your Tool reactions. You'll probably need to do this on your own time, but worth the time watching Tool live 92 in Philly. There might be 15 people in the audience. I think Maynard got tired of being front and center eventually because he knows he's badass and wanted to feature the band's talent. I love you guys so much! Soon as I get a job, I'm joining your Patreon!
If you do have a chance to buy tickets to a TOOL show, just a tip from someone who’s seen them 11 times, go for a seat that’s as straight down the middle as you can. With all the lasers and screens, the show is very symmetrical, so the more dead-center you can get to the stage, the better the effect of the lighting will be. 👍
danny never stops playing at live shows. the rest of the band takes a break but danny has his solo for like 20 mins. maynard sits back. the first a perfect circle tour maynard was up front but had his back to the crowd the whole time, no shirt, wearing a wig and rocking his back tattoo. opened for nine inch nails. that was a good one
Wow! Dudes you have no idea how great this was. Perfect. Better than coffee at 2 in the morning. I needed this. Kick ass review, kick ass song and really cool humans that are the band, Tool. Something about seeing rock stars interact with their fans is just too cool. It's like your with Danny, throwing out his sticks and seeing the frozen faces of starstruck fans. He makes people smile just walking around and waiving. Or are they smiling because they have just watched him use his "Otherworldly Othergalaxy" talents? Can you imagine what that must feel like? Being Danny Carey and that's you job 3 nights a week. Very cool. Very very freakin cool! Thanks guys, you made my day!
I had the privilege of seeing them live in October of 2019. I had wanted to see them since hearing them for the first time in 2006. I remember getting there early and making it a point to not have a single drink the entire concert. I wanted to experience its entirety and be 100% immersed. I’m so glad I did. They are by far the loudest and most immersive concert I have seen. Only those who have been there know just how chest-pounding that bass is. My only hope is that I can see them again soon. These guys truly are a show that is worth whatever it takes to get there. 🤘
If you want to see Maynard singing at his best and want to see it pro shot, look up A Perfect Circle Three Libras on Jay Leno. Absolutely amazing vocal talent on display from back in the day.
There's a live, extended version of STINKFIST in San Diego that's my favorite. During the regular break after the 2nd chorus, Maynard starts singing a medley of Elvis' "Suspicious Minds" & Grandmaster Flash's "White Lines." "We're caught in a trap I can't walk out Because I love you too much Baby!!! And those white lines Are runnin' through my mind You know I need you too much Baby!!!" Then later, the extended part by Danny, Adam & Justin, just from their instruments, I guarantee will make you feel some type of emotion. From the friends that I've had listen to it, who are not all necessarily TOOL or rock/metal fans, gave me the same couple of responses: They either wanted to cry, like myself, or for some reason were put in amazingly happy moods. You guys have to peep that one. It's a must see for the Trash Talkers & the TOOLArmy.
The bongo and tabla drum sounds are presets on the Mandala pads (the round things in Pneuma with the pointy Thelema symbol on) One of them has over a hundred positions for different sounds.
I was at that concert!!!! i was a few feet away from the stage, and it was life changing! the lights, the music, the everything :) it was truly mesmerizing, if you guys ever go to a concert, just know it WILL be like the music is philosophically speaking to you! love you guys too, got some suggestions for ya too. alice in chains - frogs, dont follow and rotten apple is a must soundgarden: spoon man soad: atwa
So. A little context for this. Their Fear Inoculum tour, they instated a strict no camera policy for the shows. All of their shows finished with "Stinkfist" and before the song starts, Maynard tells everyone that they can bring out their cameras and film. These men are absolute legends, and deserve the Standing "O" that they got here. Also, Maynard never hangs out on stage. He dips out immediately! LOL! Nice one, guys.
The first two times I saw them in concert were similar to this. Maynard was in the back. The third time Maynard was actually wearing a gas mask with the microphone attached to the gas mask, and playing a keyboard out in front. I have that on video but when I tried to post it years ago, RUclips would not allow it. It was for the song 10,000 days, Wings for Marie.
@@richtigersoan honestly, it's not even in my top 10 Kyuss songs, and I like the changes Tool made for when they performed it. which is why I've been telling them to get back to Kyuss...so when they hear the Tool version the know to listen for what Tool changed 😁
During Joe Rogan Podcasts I understood that Maynard is usually rather scared to look into the crowd, moreover pretty sensitive to bright lights... Besides it's not about him but the music 😊 With apc and Puscifer, it's a very different story :his voice has even more space to breathe and shine, you'll love him even more in those projects I believe
Dude whoever missed this failed to capture the awesome claymation video in background. You really need to see this in person. I have a drum stick Danny personally gave me at a Tool clinic. It's framed with the Tool poster from that clinic.
The screen in the back was the music video, which I think y'all should also watch all those! May be different now, but back then it was so fucking amazing. Other than the early days, only live shows I've ever watched you had to LOOK for Maynard in a dark corner. Hubby & I missed a Tool/AIC/Smashing Pumpkins show nearby a few yrs ago. Totally sucks it got cancelled.
12:01 Those are his mandala pads, his electronic drum pads that he developed. Danny is influenced by a lot of Indian and Mediterranean percussion. Its not practical to take every instrument with you when you tour, so just by a click of a button on his Macbook, he can get any sound he wants from those pads. In songs like Stinkfist, Disposition, Right in two etc., he has incorporated Tabla (Indian classical percussion) sounds into it, that's what you're hearing there. BTW, Danny also knows how to play Tabla, the actual instrument.
He was pretty damn good in Tulsa 2019 as well. Came down from Wichita.👍And saw the KC show before that. Had tickets for Wichita and OKC but they were canceled. 🤬
You want some shock factor? Watch 4 degrees in San Bernardino in the year 1995. I was front row and maybe 300 people were there. You won’t believe what you’ll see but now you know enough about TooL that it won’t surprise you.
Damn i remember watching you guys months ago do tool for the first time. Glad to see yall are still spiraling out! You guys should check out the band Animals as Leaders. Probably watch some live stuff.
Justin is the baddest bass player! You guys have to check out “Triad” live from their “Lateralus” tour in 02’! He is in a totally different realm! Danny also does his own solo beforehand while Tomas Haake of “Meshuggah” does his own set of drums with him! It’s ridiculous, highly recommend it! Great content as always gents! 👍🏽
13th step was a really important album for me in my teenage years. Got the perfect circle logo tattoo on my 18th birthday. Granted that was because I was in Vermont and I was a walk in and the guy couldn't do the Lateralus eye lol but still, arguably their best album
You could check out some of Tool's bootleg covers if you havent yet... They did Spasm from Justin's previous band Peach, also Demon Cleaner from Kyuss, or Stranglehold from Ted Nugent
Y’all gotta react to the Lateralus live version of this track, because the energy and ability MJK had to sing crazy before his voice got damaged, it’s just different! He’s still good with what he’s able to do, but man, the lateralus live shows were amazing to see. You can find them on RUclips and you’ll be blown away.
Maynards been sitting on the mini back riser since the Lateralus tour in 2001. The only time i've seen him live up front was for the APC 01 Tour. Too young for the 90s shows withoug my parents going with me.
That's Uncasville, CT 11-21-19, one of three I caught in late 2019. I was at the one where Danny's drum cam vid was taken also. Edit: Danny usually throws out a pair of band auto'd drum heads. I caught one caught in Amherst, Ma Oct, 25 2002. 🤘
If you guys decide to do Maynard’s pre-TOOL 80’s New Wave band, “Children of the Anachronistic Dynasty” or “C.A.D.”... while I’m sure y’all will want to do that band’s original, pre-TOOL version of Sober (which is titled “Burn About Out”), personally I think the best song by that band is the song called “Wait Now, Cry Now”... the first track of their Fingernails album... so yeah... if you DO decide to check out C.A.D. And you wanna do something more than just the early version of Sober, I definitely suggest you do, “Wait Now, Cry Now” :D excited to see you hear some real good APC and puscifer though!
For MJK Tuesday, I'd say start with either "Gravity" by A Perfect Circle (probably my favorite song from them) or "Grand Canyon" by Puscifer (which is definitely my favorite by them). And if you can, you should definitely react to the official video for "Grand Canyon." It is an absolutely beautiful video (with some MJK weirdness at the end).
You guys react to some of my favourite tunes, Tool has been my favourite band since 13. I'm 34 now. Although, a lil more mudvayne in the mix would be dope. Of you dig into the lyrics they're both very much alike. Love from Canada!
Trifecta Tuesdays! Tool/APC/Puscifer Quality content for months. More NIN as well please. This show was a week after the show in Boston that the live Pneuma drum cam video came from. Nov. 2019.
Orestes from a perfect circle is some of Maynard's best singing.
@Scott LeFaivre cringe
My favorite APC song.
@Scott LeFaivre same
3 Libras is another one that really showcases his talent and range as a singer. There's a live performance on Leno where you can see how much effort he puts into every syllable.
The live at the red rocks version is amazing
The best part of a Tool live show is the atmosphere. Nobody is talking. Everyone is paying 100% attention and embracing the moment. Maynard typically allows people to pull out their phones to record the last song: APC and Tool.
He did that at the Portland show on march 11 2020, the night the world shut down. It was wild.
Love it!
Live shows are so amazing, Sydney Feb 17/2020 was mind blowing.. Will always remember seeing Jimmy live in South Australia back in the day..
For tool Tuesday I think you could find some 'Maynards best' compilations because some are hilarious. And, why not, add some little puci-circle in there 😁I can't remember watching this one live version of stinkfist tho, so I'm stoked! 🤗
A perfect circle - Gravity!
Gravity by a perfect circle off the 13 step album
Gravity by John Mayors awesome too
Man i don’t know if you guys have seen them live, but it’s a fucking experience in its own!
The Grudge live in New York 2002 is insane if you’re looking for more live stuff. Maynard pulls off those damn screams. Crazy
I really really wish they would release a live concert blu-ray of their last tour. It was so incredible to see live.
I would think at some point they would. Danny has said that they have recorded every show that they have done. So many be something on a grand scale is in the works.
You ain’t lied!❤
I'LL... KEEP... DIGGING!
TILL I... FEEL.... SOMETHING!
Lmfao
Being there at the live show is beyond amazing. It is a must.
I was lucky to see them early last year in Atlanta prior to COVID ramping up (also right after Kobe passed and they showed him love as well). Love the Stinkfist extended version. Ive seen them three times and still feel like yall wanting to see them!
Good work fellas. Finding the live extended versions of their greatest is awesome.
The live Stone & Echo Red Rocks version of Orestes is a must! Hell, any song from that live set is.
Just know that if you want to get a ticket to one of their shows you literally have to be online ahead of time and hit refresh RIGHT when the tickets go on sale... because they sell out within minutes. Don't miss out when you get a chance. I've seen them 13 times now live.
When I tried that, the fkn computer had to refresh RIGHT THEN. I was lucky they added a leap day gig
I had the luck if seeing them right before lockdown in AZ and it was amazing! My 3rd time..... I consider myself lucky because its hard to get tickets!
Yep. Scalpers have bots to buy up all the tickets.
Maynard always peaces out..he has said that he doesn't like the feeling of being worshipped
Bro .... I'm fucking DYING!!!!! for live music. It's a physical NEED at this point
"Horizons" by Puscifer. It's a sort of epilogue to everything with Maynard's mother. He scattered her ashes over a section of his vineyard, and the grapes that grow in that section are what he uses to make Judith. The first time I saw Tool live, they opened with Stinkfist. The last time I saw them they closed with it (final encore). Very fitting for the final "official " Tool Tuesday!
you will need to do Pet and Counting Bodies Like Sheep to the rythm of war drums together since it is essentially original/remix
Love that song!!! Counting bodies like sheep......
My first time actually seeing your stream live!! Stoked!
Live tool is face melting ❤️
There is nothing like seeing the mighty 4 live. NOTHING. I hope you guys get to experience Tool in concert. The most beautiful live experience known to man 😌😌
First MJK Tuesday - The Noose by APC. It’s my favorite song, a constant build almost like Stairway to Heaven.
What a great way to bring this Tool journey to an end. On to the next trip with MJK Tuesdays.
Something to consider for MJK Tuesday is even non-music options like I think it was a trilogy of his called the art of work.
I saw Tool Back in 01 ? I've been to 40+ concerts over the years and Tool still is by far the best concert I've ever been to. It's unbelievable, definitely a life changing experience.
I always loved this songggg!
Okay, dudes. For your first MJK Tuesday I would recommend Conditions of My Parole (Director's Cut) or The Humbling River.
Yes please. I 2nd that.
Just going through all of your Tool reactions. You'll probably need to do this on your own time, but worth the time watching Tool live 92 in Philly. There might be 15 people in the audience. 100%. 1st level above the floor as close to center as possible are the best in my opinion
danny never stops playing at live shows. the rest of the band takes a break but danny has his solo for like 20 mins. maynard sits back. the first a perfect circle tour maynard was up front but had his back to the crowd the whole time, no shirt, wearing a wig and rocking his back tattoo. opened for nine inch nails. that was a good one
cant believe it has been so long ago. I was in high school. where did the time go?
Any APC live at Red Rock is badass!!
Maynard is almost always in the back during Tool shows. It adds to the experience. It's all one big vibe.
That was awesomeeeee!!!!
And tool live is badass!! One of the best concerts and mood ever
You guys are my favorite! ❤🤘
Wow! Dudes you have no idea how great this was. Perfect. Better than coffee at 2 in the morning. I needed this. Kick ass review, kick ass song and really cool humans that are the band, Tool. Danny's drum kit is f'n unreal
You'll never see a better live show than TooL. If you can book back to back nights do it because you're going to want to see them again immediately.
The Outsider - Perfect Circle
There's a live, extended version of STINKFIST in San Diego that's my favorite. During the regular break after the 2nd chorus, Maynard starts singing a medley of Elvis' "Suspicious Minds" & Grandmaster Flash's "White Lines."
"We're caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much Baby!!!
And those white lines
Are runnin' through my mind
You know I need you too much Baby!!!"
Then later, the extended part by Danny, Adam & Justin, just from their instruments, I guarantee will make you feel some type of emotion.
They’ve become a large venue band, but getting to see them in a small club was probably the best show ever
Also I would love to hear to guy’s reaction to divorce…it’s a Melvin’s / tool collaboration. Slow build up, but epic drum off
Sick song, the sound quality is insane for a live show 🤘
Thomas from APC Mer De Noms album.
Not the most popular, but one of my favorites.
The bongo and tabla drum sounds are presets on the Mandala pads (the round things in Pneuma with the pointy Thelema symbol on) One of them has over a hundred positions for different sounds.
Yes! It's the extended Stinkfist! They have been closing out the shows with this. It's the only time they let you get your phone out.
I was at that concert!!!! i was a few feet away from the stage, and it was life changing! the lights, the music, the everything :) it was truly mesmerizing, if you guys ever go to a concert, just know it WILL be like the music is philosophically speaking to you! love you guys too, got some suggestions for ya too.
alice in chains - frogs, dont follow and rotten apple is a must
soundgarden: spoon man
soad: atwa
Danny plays programmed electronic pads. The sounds change depending on the song. That is the bongo stuff you are hearing. :)
The song Judith on perfect circle album is about his mom dying from cancer and his anger about how she depended on her faith and still died.
Yall just made me cry my ass off!!! I had a drum stick and pick thrown to me and a couple of guys took them from me 🥺
Seeing TOOL live is a religious experience!
😌😌😌 Indeed
Why have I not had anyone's support getting them to do Tools cover of Kyuss' Demon Cleaner???
Gotta say that I enjoyed the original more tho
@@richtigersoan honestly, it's not even in my top 10 Kyuss songs, and I like the changes Tool made for when they performed it. which is why I've been telling them to get back to Kyuss...so when they hear the Tool version the know to listen for what Tool changed 😁
During Joe Rogan Podcasts I understood that Maynard is usually rather scared to look into the crowd, moreover pretty sensitive to bright lights... Besides it's not about him but the music 😊
With apc and Puscifer, it's a very different story :his voice has even more space to breathe and shine, you'll love him even more in those projects I believe
I missed the last tool tuesday....looking forward to mjk tuesdays.
It’s honestly crazy. This is one of the only reaction channels I’ve ever seen who have made it through tool’s entire discography.
Dude whoever missed this failed to capture the awesome claymation video in background. You really need to see this in person. I have a drum stick Danny personally gave me at a Tool clinic. It's framed with the Tool poster from that clinic.
And if this is the end of TOOL Tuesday's, it was am awesome run, and look forward to the MJK Tuesday's.
I really do say Passive by APC...my all time fav APC song
12:01 Those are his mandala pads, his electronic drum pads that he developed. Danny is influenced by a lot of Indian and Mediterranean percussion. SCHISM - Live (extended version) Kansas City 2016
🤘YOU'RE WELCOME!!!!🤘
Omg, I was there! Possibly the best performance they've done ever. My absolute favorite💓💓
"Kerry King" Really!?
Your user name RULZ!!!
Tool once did sober live with serj, you gotta check it out
A Perfect Circle - COUNTING SHEEP TO THE RHYTHM OF THE WAR DRUMS - LIVE: Stone & Echos ... do it! :-) Peace, S.-)
Opiate in the 2016 Tulsa show Danny does one of the best drum solos ever!
He was pretty damn good in Tulsa 2019 as well. Came down from Wichita.👍And saw the KC show before that. Had tickets for Wichita and OKC but they were canceled. 🤬

Saw them do Triad live in 2001. OMFG was that badass or what??!! 👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥
Oh yeah!!! just realized when i was done typing, this performance has the extended instrumental...when H-Dub6 says, "Adam, don't hurt'em!!!" LOL.
After having a completely miserable Monday, this made it better;) #MJKTuesday
13th step was a really important album for me in my teenage years. Got the perfect circle logo tattoo on my 18th birthday. Granted that was because I was in Vermont and I was a walk in and the guy couldn't do the Lateralus eye lol but still, arguably their best album

The only time i've seen him live up front was for the APC 01 Tour. Too young for the 90s shows withoug my parents going with me.
Awesome gifts! Y'alls studio looks hella kool!!!!
Much like Pantera, seeing Tool live is not a concert ... it's a f'n event. It's absolute live perfection
Please please please: “The Package” from A Perfect Circle. First track from 13th step

Do Bullet Train to Iowa by Puscifer or The Hollow by APC! Live Tool has to be The Grudge, Aenima, Lateralus!
The Humbling River (Pucifer)
Or The Noose, or Pet (A perfect Circle).
Has Maynard ever reached out to you guys to show his appreciation for your love towards Tool? That would be awesome.. 😍🔥🤘
i hope for a Spring/Summer Tour in the EU, after the Fall Tour in the US. I will go to minimum 2 Concerts!
There is a video of Danny playing. There is a video from behind his kit playing a new song from their new CD
Never mind you reacted to it already lol
More tool live please and when you listen to 13th step apc don't skip the nurse who loves me...
Last one to leave stage, thanking the fans.
Reason #56449447492027445544445 that Danny fucking rules.
JC Dobbs ‘92 show
As a wise man named Shia once said “DO IT!!!”
You guys react to some of my favourite tunes, Tool has been my favourite band since 13. I'm 34 now. Although, a lil more mudvayne in the mix would be dope. Of you dig into the lyrics they're both very much alike. Love from Canada!
Dude, the Justin simultaneous remix us one of my all time go to songs! Its great!
Should do "The Remedy" by Puscifer. You will love the music and especially the lyrics
They already did
You got a knife? "I got a knife" Man that sounds so south🤣🤣🤣
Trifecta Tuesdays!
Tool/APC/Puscifer
Quality content for months. More NIN as well please. This show was a week after the show in Boston that the live Pneuma drum cam video came from. Nov. 2019.
