    If you live in an area with a large natural humidity range, for you exhaust fan, instead of a fixed humidity thresthold, compare the humidity against a humidity sensor in an adjacent room.

    • @sandphotoNL
      @sandphotoNL 4 месяца назад +2

      Or even better: use a derivative sensor helper in Home Assistant so you can check for sudden increases in humidity.
      You can also use a temperature sensor on the hot water pipe leading to the shower and add a derivative sensor helper on that. That's what I'm using at the moment since my humidity sensor died after a year. It often says in the manual that humidity should be "non-condensing" and that's often not the case in the bathroom.

    One worthwhile automation for that OralB toothbrush (lifestyle dependent) may be activating a nighttime routine once the brush has been used at night and returned to its base.

    What's funny is I was JUST talking to my partner this morning about what kind of cool, albeit unnecessary for the most part, automations I can use for our small bathroom downstairs. This video came right on time, just like magic. Thanks for the ideas!

    If your toilet is in a separate "room", you might take a look at the "wasp in a box" integration or blueprint, to keep the light on if someone is in there for a while and sitting still!! Will need a motion or presence detector and a door sensor.

    • @makeitworktech
      @makeitworktech  4 месяца назад

      Good idea! I wanted to do a presence sensor, but hadn't thought of a good use case in the bathroom.

      @@makeitworktech I've had good luck with the Aqara FP2 and mapping a "toilet" zone. Turns on the exhaust after a delay when someone is in that zone. It's main function is managing lights with the full bathroom zone. I have that toothbrush, I'll have to play with that. Maybe play some music while brushing or some news/weather. Great video!

    Great ideas, can you publish the automation for the scale? Perfect motivator.

    I think the regular tuya air quality sensors can pick up the VOC from poops, where it lacks vs. the Air1 is in every other category IIRC. If all you want to do is pick up #2 it might be worth a shot so the Air-1 could be somewhere more useful (living room or bedroom I imagine) given its price.

    Dude! That smart air freshener idea is funny but actually very, very practical! I use aqara products on the regular at home ... I might need to adopt that idea for my bathroom 😂 i tip my hat off for that solid idea!

      Thanks! Yeah, I actually started working on a magic mirror project, but haven't had time to finish it. May be easier just to display a HA dashboard behind a 1 way mirror film.

    smart home products aside, how about an automation to have lights come on at 10 normally. I have 5 white zigbee bulbs in my bathroom vanity controlled by a Hue Bridge. A lutron aurora is on the switch keeping the lights on. I have an IKEA motion sensor turns the lights on at 10% in the wee hours. An Aqara temp/humidity sensor triggers the lights to 100 is the humidity hits 80% when I am in the shower.
