These are not my comments, I found them but might help with context. 1)The shaman told Yeonjin not to meet anyone with an 'ㅇ' in name. However, Yeon-jin's mother has five 'ㅇ's in her name. 2)The shaman pretended to be possessed by Dong-eun's threat. Soon, however, shaman began to tell stories that Dong-eun didn't know. 3)Dong-eun believed that there's no God. But through this episode, we know. In fact, So-hee and another god were helping Dong-eun. 4)The shaman makes a corrupted cop to sleep with a talisman woman. Then bad luck will escape him. 5)At the end, there are dark clouds in the sky, blocking the sunlight. This means that God is helping Dong-eun and Yeo-jeong. In relation to the talisman that fell on yeon-jins moms face: It's like ancestral tablet. A name of sacred spirit is written on it. In this case the name is "서방경신 백호신장(Sacred white tiger, gardian of western who has power of metal)" In asian traditional religion, they beilieved that the white tiger has power and take a role of punishing and slaying evils. That scene suggests that the tiger's eyes on yeonjin's mom and she gonna be punished.

I really want you guys to review The "Flower of Evil" It's a genre similar to The Glory, it's thriller genre. It's also fun to deduce the character's backstory. The drama has a high rating, and it's as great as The Glory, so I really want you guys to review it. I highly recommend it
It is a really well-written drama that maintains the tension in each episode without increasing it, continues to arouse curiosity with little by little twists, and captures anger and sadness harmoniously on the screen. But....don't worry, a harsher storm will come soon. Prepare your hearts!
I just wanted to say, I truly enjoy your reactions to this show, so I'm starting to go through your playlist to see your other reactions. These shows are so well written, directed, acted, edited, etc., they deserve recognition, and it's really fun seeing how appreciative you both are of these gems.
The Siesta employee was Dong eun’s best friend but she distanced herself from her to avoid being bullied by the group. Eventually the group victimized her after Dong eun. That’s what Dong eun said that she wants Yeon jin to be alone and no one she loved to be on her side.
In my opinion, the thing about Yeon-Jin is that she knew that her mother believed in Shamanism but she didn't believe in anything. In the very first episode, her mother throws rice on her to cleanse her of bad spirits (? - maybe?) but Yeon-Jin is apathetic to it. Her mother told her then to get rid of her friends who had O's in their names because they would basically be her downfall. But every friend that she had - had O's in their names, except for Sarah, even the man that she married. She didn't listen because she never did believe. Then Dong-Eun, Yeo-Jeong, Myeong-Oh, and even Soo-Hee (Four O's) are the ones to help cause her downfall, that is why she is so shocked during the ritual because she interacts with Soo-Hee's ghost and she never imagined that there could be real spiritual consequences to her actions.
I find it so intriguing how they actually added supernatural elements to this. In Korean folklore and shamanism, there are multiple gods or spirits that do many things (protect a home, lord of a mountain, etc) and some of them go into the body of a suitable shaman in a process called "shin nae-rim" (신내림). When this happens, the god or spirit can speak through the shaman's mouth. As many in the comments have said, it seems like it started as a fake event to scare Yeonjin, but an actual god or spirit in this case (presumably Sohee) really came into the body. That was quite unexpected and unique in a show like this. I loved it. The thing that fell on Yeonjin's mother's face is indeed a spell called "bujeok" (부적). Depending on the bujeok, you need to keep it in different areas (below a pillow, on your body, etc) for it to have an effect, or so people believe.
I love this show. Watching it makes me feel like im on a roller coaster. It was all going up till Ep 8-9 then now its the high of going down and everything finally falling into pieces. So satisfying.
The talisman falling off the wall on to the mother bears the sacred name of a God, it symbolises that she's lost her protection after the shaman is punished as the Gods abandoned her.
You wouldn't know if that dimension is just next door to you, or may be just one step away from you, but your parents are the one who standing in between you and that dimension, keeping you away from that ugly side of reality all these while.

True...this one had a happiness in it, a sweetness...'Twinkling Watermelon' that is. But I've been all over the place. I ADORED "Tale of the Nine-Tailed" specifically season 2. But you NEED season 1, you need that backstory to fully appreciate season 2. 😂. That's what I watched to relax after the deepness of this one...no, I watched "Sweet Home" then Tale. 😂 So, I spent a bit of time on kdramas in fantasy/sci-fi plots.
I cannot wait for you two see the last episode. For me its masterpiece ending and no cliffhanger. Like if they want to do the second season they can, if they dont they not need to because unlike USA netlix shows full off big clihangers, this one doesnt have any. Like some others here, I will suggest Flowers of Evil. It is insanely good and dramatic. A mystery with some level of revenge and the wonderful chemistry between the main couple just elevates the story so much.
Ah...I'm saying this because I'm a little worried, but after you watch this drama to the end, you will feel the aftereffects of feeling a little happy and feeling empty for a while. And it will be difficult to watch other dramas to the end. Your standards have been upgraded.
