Olala waddlle, tout marseille tadore et moi tu est l idole de toute une generation, plus jeune tout le monde revais de jouer comme toi, longue vie a toi chris🤴🤴🤴le roi du passement de jambe...
Chris Waddle was not the star player of Marseille. Jean Pierre Papin was. Hyper efficient striker. Won the Ballon d'or. But all kids, including me, wanted to be like Chris Waddle. He was creative, always dangerous. A true magician. And we all admired him. I do not recall an Englishman being so popular in France. Maybe the Beatles are the only one who could compete. But for my generation, Waddle was a mega star. And when I think of Marseille, all those days of past glory, I think of Chris Waddle.
true, Waddle represented the MAGIC component in the game, a humorous, witty, positive magic. Papin was clinical, Pelé was also deadly. What a team that was
As a Spurs fan, I had the VERY great fortune to be living in Marseille during the 90-91 season and went to many a game at the Stade Velodrome. Even back then, he was adored by the Marseille public. Definitely one my football heroes.
@@oliverthomas6267 = Amen. Found a few goals of his when he was there, but must've been a dream come true to witness his genius on the pitch live (let alone others). Just gutted no 'Waddle Francais' etc! Like Gazzeta's Italia or whatever!
There was a VHS about Chris's time in Marseille that i watched all the time. He was a big man who could feint and dummy defenders out of existence. Great player to watch
All i remember is it was 1989 bham uk and chris waddle took on every single player down the left side of the pitch from one end to the other...he then crossed the ball and one of the other players scored...

Genius of a player!
magic waddle, the greatest left winger in France at that time.
te voir jouer c'était un tel bonheur merci Chris
waddle , beardsley and gazza straight out of an academy together is crazy

WADDLE produced Papin success
Waddle and papin were an amazing combination. They lived together for awhile so maybe that's why they linked so well.
Grew up watching him @ Spurs, but wish could've seen more of this legend when he went to France. Absolute LEGEND.👍

Imagine what Chris would be worth in today’s game. Hundreds and hundreds of millions
"Did you ever think about playing abroad?" John Hartson "No, I'm a ginge".

Cette équipe de ouf!!
Great wisdom from Murphy at the end
Pleasure watching him at Wednesday, that team should've won silverware.
Playing in a team with Papin, Cantona, Francescoli, Deschamps and Tigana is like what happens when somebody cheats in Championship Manager...
According to Paolo Maldini he was one of strongest player he ever face.
Mon joueur de coeur depuis tout petit, et toujours aujourd'hui👍🏾✅. Tu restera a jamais marseillais. Allez L'OM 🤍💙
Humbe guy x
He was worshipped in Marseille.
Allez l'OM, Droit au but ⚪🔵
