The talent in Uriah Heep was off the charts! It is so sad that Gary & David had to leave at such and early age. If they would have stayed together, no telling where this band would have ended. Anyway to me they were the best rock band of the late 60's & 70's period!

@@DCB728 Yes, Gary was electrocuted on stage. Heep's manager wasn't one to allow the boys any rest. He kept them on a constant touring schedule. The best line-up of Uriah Heep EVER!!! Without ANY doubt!!! Allthough Mick Box mentioned it is "just a collection of good songs" at the "Demons And Wizard Record" there definitely WAS magic in it back then!!!
My birthday is July 1st. Since my youth, every year the morning of this day begins for me symbolically with July Morning. I congratulate myself so much. At various times, I shared this tradition with the Heeps and jokingly asked if I could consider it a gift from them. Ken Hensley said, "All I have left is the keyboard part." Mick Box asked in response: "Do you really listen to July Morning so rarely?" Lee Kerslake immediately asked: "And you're not tired of listening to it so often?" and winked at Box. And Bernie Shaw said: "I hope you're not listening to me, but to Byron." I was lucky enough to know these wonderful people. Great musicians! Magical music! July Morning is a unique masterpiece of world culture! Do you agree?
I saw them about July 1974 at the Bayfront Center in St. Petersburg, Florida. It was the Wonderworld tour, fantastic show, David did the Rock N Roll Medley for the encore although he was laying on his back singing most of the time. Of course later now all know that was because by then he was too drunk to stand up. The opener was Manfred Man's Earth Band doing Solar Fire, they caught me totally off guard. I though they were this 60's brit-pop band singing Doo What Ditty, but instead they were an psych version of Pink Floyd. I saw some great shows back then, Deep Purple in Savannah 1972 and Jethro Tull 'Thick as Brick' Tour Savannah '72. I think that was the best show ever. It was all related to the newspaper album cover with all the stories about rabbits. Through the show people dressed in bunny outfits would hop across the stage, large telephones would ring and Ian would stop and answer the phone. I saw then again in 1995 with ELP and it didn't compare. Ian Anderson, Ian Gillan and David Byron were three great front man. My other favorite I didn't see back then, Grand Funk. I did get to see Mark, Don & Mel perform the last time the three were together in 1998 at Merriweather in Columbia, Maryland. Great show, Chuck Negron former 3 Dog Night opened and he can sing better than ever. I guess I'll stop rambling.
I saw that tour too. MM's Earth Band stole the show. Rory Gallagher started it off, at least in San Diego. And the '95 tour you mention was F-ING FANTASTIC!!! Methinks you might have been too "buttered" to remember it accurately there, bro! It kicked arse! BTW: Are you sure David was lying down because he was drunk? Or was he just enjoying the light show on "L"??? Maybe both, eh?
