  • The words of House Stark ring true in White Cliffs, Winter is coming.... the cool winds begin to blow and its underground work for myself and Noah!
Our investment of $2000 in the claim Hooters continues to pay dividends. with brilliant green opal trace showing in the wall my hopes where high for a good find!
To better access the area I made the decision to leave the seam while I focused on shifting old timers backfill to clear a passage to our hoist/tipper.
The work was hard and made difficult by the lack of space in the tunnels and my height of 6'2''.
I managed to get the majority of the old dirt up and out of the time and Noah found his way down to the opal ready to dig out!
we worked slowly to extracted each piece of the precious opal until we hit some very hard ground (off camera) at which point we concluded the days operation opting to begin tumbling the opal and cleaning it up to see what we had!
The material was top tier green/blue worth around 5k at todays opal prices in the rough!
We hope you all enjoyed the video please leave us a comment and tell us what you would like to see more or less of.

This was so awesome watching you dig the opals out. My absolute favorite gem stone. I picked a opal, and the jeweler cut a triangle 1.5 k stone to fit in a gold ring I had designed and had made. The Opal was about 500.00 back in the 90's. The whole ring cost 1500.00. I loved it and wore it all the time. Then in about 2007 it disappeared from my jewelry box in my bedroom. I was so heart broken. Never found who stole it. A few other items were taken. But this was so special. I had it made after my Dad passed, because he liked opals so much. I still have not bought a stone and had the ring replaced. Someday I hope I can again. Anyway. I am really enjoying your channel. Great videos.

@@theoriginal.Bobbyd The reason we sell it in the rough is generally because we want to turn it over quickly to try and inject some money right back into the mining to hopefully find plenty more Opals.
Once the material is cut and polished and set into Jewlery it can take much longer to sell, upwards of a year occasionally with the whole process of cutting sending it away to get made into jewelry.

Man i know how addicting that work can be. Where i live in America we have a wild mushroom called a Morrel and they only come up when the ground is above 50 degrees and below 70 degrees, the season can last as long as 2 months or as little as a week depending of the rainfall and temps. we sell them for anywhere between $30-$60 a pound. When they are up you have to find them quick and get them sold before someone else finds them. Last year my buddy and i found 125 pounds in 1 day and sold them all the next day for top dollar. We made 2 months worth of wages in 2 days but it was a ton of work. I think in my past life i was a gold miner or gem miner, i have always wanted to go look for Fire Opals in the southwest or gold mine Alaska. There is a Diamond mine in Arkansas i need to go check out.

I couldnt go underground and do what you do, much as I'd love to. I'd be freaking out at the enclosed space. Takes a special kind of courage to go back time after time. Go guys, good luck

Thanks for the support! It's not too scary underground if you do everything right. But don't worry when we first started mining Noah couldn't get himself down the ladder for 2 weeks

We definitely might! Even if we sell this in the rough you can rest assured we're going to put it back into mining. We can't help ourselves 😂
