@@Sherrie-w7jthere's a cycle of that, imagine USA tell a enemy country to get off his army of that place, either the country listen and its peace, or either he not gonna listen, but there's a big chance USA gonna attack it than just goin to stay and watch, thus war happening, like a circle
Good song but.. don't say "most", go listen to "War/No more trouble"-Bob Marley and the wailers (Babylon by bus version, boston version, Toronto version or any live version), Brothers in arms-Mark Knopfler (Basel version! pfffff!)... etc etc...
From what I read, the conductor went to Metallica with the idea of having a concert together cause he was a huge Metallica fan! What a work of art! I am a fan of Metallica music, but the fact that they did this put them at a whole different level than other metal bands. Already legends, but became Supreme Legends after this concert!
I'm a trumpet player and play in local orchestras in my town, and church worship team, and I'm a metalhead. I wish SO BAD I could have been in the orchestra (or audience) for this show.
The most beautiful part of this to my ears is the first few seconds after James comes in on guitar. The guitar intro starts with B minor, then goes to G major... very common progression. But while James is technically in B minor, the orchestra comes in in the key of B major, briefly switches to minor and then flows into G major. It's unexpected in this song, but this is possibly one of the most emotional chord progressions in music overall. It has a marvelous effect here.
It is honestly pretty amazing. Metallica can bring me to tears and I don’t even know why. When I saw them perform Fade to Black live I immediately cried and I know that is tied to how I feel about the song but what is amazing is that I didn’t even think about what made me sad, I just cried. This song just did the same thing to me. A true tribute to the band as a whole and especially to James for his lyrical genius
The solo during the middle section of To Live Is To Die is one of the few pieces that bring me to tears. I wish they had done it here. But the first few minutes of One with the orchestra are almost as beautiful.
I love this! It is written that the San Francisco symphony contacted Metallica to do this. It was " the most intense playing of their lives" "enjoyed and honored "...this is beautiful when artists can appreciate each other and play......ohhhh my heart was full when this CD came out. Absolutely outstanding.
I am amazed by the way Metallica and the Orchestra are meshed. Neither one drown out the other, it's perfectly harmonized and adds such a depth to their music. Amazing work by all involved! Cant get enough.
@@johnpetit7863 I honestly think that makes it better, in a way I think it shows the continuity and everlasting nature of war. I think it also ties back into their music video which features All Quiet on the Western Front which is about WWI.
@@adama4791 I believe what he was trying to say is that it has Helicopter noises during a time period where Helicopters did not exist. Unless that’s what you were talking about.
@@GameboyFanatic yeah what I think I was trying to say 2 years ago is that incorporating noises of war from multiple eras of “war technology” is interesting because it shows that while it may be a WWI song it still applies
esta rola tenia años de no escucharla no sabia que avia sonado esta produccion de metalica en 1999 ya la tengo en estudio en el movil cuando la escucho ene sta version me acuerdo de llos mios que ya no estan en este mundo salduos de nicaragua a todos
This version with the symphony is awesome; it has a dramatic tension that makes me cry but at the same time expresses rage and desperation. It’s all so engaging and exciting. Metallica give us a wonderful show and a extraordinary performance.
This is genuinely the only song to ever bring me to tears, i completely broke down when the solo kicked in. Not even the original version could make me cry like I did now. There's simply nothing else that can compare.
Brought a heavy sigh and a tear to my eye just now. Grandfather, WW1 France. My Uncle, WW2 US😢 Marines, Wake Island survivor POW the entire war. Other Uncle, US Marines, Korean War at the battle of the Chosin reservoir. Me, a veteran thankful that I never had to experience the horrors they experienced.
I feel myself transcending into the abyss as I twerk viciously enough to shake the Alpine mountains. I shake off all the contempt for society when listening to this masterpiece. I lather my naked self in the Earth's natural oils. There I am. Complete.
You dont know but ive been a fan since you were dreaming of a firebid , i was born 1980 and you guys changed the world,,.. just so you know much love from mellinuals
I am not a big fan of metal music, but this one is just awesome! It is very intense! Can't stop listening! The intro man! Espeacially the moment he starts singing, it is sublime! I can't find the exact words to describe how amazing it is!
Allah'ım yardım et hakikaten, biz bu dünyaya yiyip içip gezip dolaşıp yatıp,mezara girmeye gelmedik, bir amaç için geldik,Allah'ım yardım et,gafletteyiz, yardım et hakikaten yardım et.
Silver Dixie This sub thread.... [weeping]... I read this to my wife (who was begging me to brush my teeth) and she said what I was thinking, “Those are your people.” I love you Silver Dixie. I love you Big Rod. I love you American Rebel79.
The is an Australian war song..ultra famous in our country...well not to the current generation but it's called...Only nineteen... recommended highly...🤘🇦🇺🤘
I'm die hard Metallica, but Michael Kamen and The Symphony added another dimension to their music that I just cant explain. Perfect in every way.
it would have sounded amazing in person with all the individual instruments being each heard individually
Michael Waters well said
Is true!
It's called Harmony bro
10000000% agree
This version makes the song sound much more intense. Just when I thought my favorite Metallica song couldn’t get any better.
Sameeeee
right?
6:38 that moment fully describes the concert. An orchestra conductor does back-to-back stand with metal guitarist.
TMSenioro Pomidoro he was having a blast...who can blame him.
hahahaha hell yes!
Amen!
_Music is an universal language._ 🤟😎
Most metal thing I've ever seen 🤘
The most powerful anti-war song ever written.
Have you read the novel "Johnny Got His Gun" or seen the movie?
That was the inspiration to the song.
War is necessary unfortunately

Kirk nailed every single note on the solo, best performance ever.
❤
Kudos to the SF orchestra for keeping the tempo in this particular song.....also you can tell and see that the conductor was having a blast. Love it.

Really love the machine gun sound of drums of this song. And this version always gives me goosebumps
This is the finest musical performance ever done. Amazes me every time
One does not simply sound this magnificent
Every time I watch this video, I am more impressed the string instruments keep up with the speed of the guitars.
Holy shit! How can you get more awesome than this?
I have this DVD and I have watched it over 300 times it is amazing and I love Metallica and I can get enough of Metallica
love seeing the classical world and classical instruments meet with the world of rock and metal.
3:43 to 4:12 I even stop breathing just to give my 100% attention to this part
