Lucifer never lies. He chooses to be honest under any circumstances as an admirable trait for the audience to warm up to him and get over our collective prejudice against the devil and forgive his not so admirable traits portrayed in the series.
Some backstage context, initially he was going to speak in an American accent, but he came off as a jerk and everyone was worried people wouldn't warm up to him. One day he was rehearsing a scene and didn't bother to change his accent and the directors and producers present noticed his natural accent softened the jerkiness.
