Loved Geidi Prime's creepy oil-slick firework displays, very novel !
Yeah, same. I thought it looked so damn cool and really matched the whole alien-ness of Geidi Prime
I need an entire B&W movie on Geidi Prime because that Black Sun and those fireworks that looked like ink splashes were freaking awesome!!
100%!!!
I absolutely loved the Geidi Prime look. As I watched it in theaters, it kinda struck hard and left me in awe. It actually gave off such an alien planet feel. And its not just black and white, it's "The Black Sun of Geidi Prime that interferes with the color spectrum, the way light is refracted, where color is washed out" Its just so damn cool.
i love the scene of the colosseum, hearing the language of the Harkonnens and their theatrics towards their baron's nephew, it's just shows how much the Technology has developed forward but the humans has developed backswards😂
They're not looking for Spice, they're looking for Salt and Pepper
Note: We actually see Geidi Prime in Dune Part 1 and it’s not in black & white. However it is at nighttime and this new arena scene is during the day.
It's not black and white. They used infrared cameras. Black and white won't give this soft subtle texture in the brigjt sun scenes
This video contains less information than a fortune cookie
"Because"
"That works"
Y’all should rather ask why house harkonnen hates house atreides….that story goes faaaaaar beyond your expectations
Because they called them cowards in the first Great War - not exactly accurate but correct me as needed
@@mcz428there’s like so much more to this but I didn’t want to write an entire book for you
Because Atreides have hair
Mainly greed and jealousy. Harkonnen wanted the power house Atreides would get and the Spice
Because the Bene Geserit wished it so.
They explain it in the movie, common sense because of the sun
Not really common sense but alright I suppose
@@kaijionline During the arena fight the announcer clearly states "our black sun", and the camera pans up to a harsh black star in the sky, which is likely a neutron star
@@corinth492 the average person wouldn’t think a black sun causes everything to be monochrome
@@corinth492I know it’s a sci fi but how is a sun black?
@@flochforster2974because it’s “Sci Fi”
Well thank God the spice on Dune isn’t garlic powder.
What are the all black guards names during the birthday battle called?
Picadors, they goad and weaken bulls
They have a black sun on the planet
Denis Villeneuve knows what he is doing. Also love Arrival.
Still asking myself how they mutated to look like pseudo Aliens
Product of their environment. The Harkonnens evolved on a world of massive industry and pollution. Due to the massive pollution on this world, the planet probably lost its protective ozone and the Harkonnens evolved to withstand this world. Why I think they don't have hair is again no ozone and the Harkonnens are exposed to the suns radiation. Of course these are my own personal theroys
Omg, you can't just ask why a planet is black and white
I mean, I was hoping for a technical breakdown on not only how it was achieved (most likely infrared), but why and how it's possible in-universe
How would you have reacted if the Michael Jackson song "Black or White" started playing during the Harkonnen planet scene?
You kinda explained nothing. The reasons behind the " black and white" in fact it was filmed in infrared not black and white. Denis Villeneuve created Geidi Prime under a black sun and wanted to create the feel of a world that under a black sun instead of giving the world color it destroys color. You can see this during the sceenes of Geidi Prime when the Barron is floating towards the stage, when in the shade, its in color when exposed to the light its black and white. He also wanted to give the feeling of a old WWII movie as well. Another instresting thing during the Geidi Prime sceen. When the Bene Gesserit entered into the stadium, they are covered. Alluding to the fact that Geidi Primes history of massive industry and pollution lead the planet to have no protective ozone and the ultra Violet rays from the sun along with the radiation that could harm or kill someome who is not Harkonnen due to the Harkonnens embrasing their industry and polluted world. Why i also think they have no hair due to the radiation from the sun bombarding the planet
That's the best scene in the movie
but are there case studies of such a thing in real depictions of outer space?
Pluto
@@walterwhite458 but isn't it too far from the sun to to RECEIVE any light?
@@seanwilson531 No? we can see the surface
Giedi Prime and the House Harkonnen armies remind me of the Grineer in Warframe.
Warframe is probably inspired by Dune. Which sci fi franchise doesn't?
we saw it in p1
Cant believe Someone could talk so much, yet say so little 😒
AI video?
Thufir cut from Dune 2? No Alia?
lol, nah.
She will be in the third movie but i wanted to see creepy little girl as well
Because its cheaper to film i mean plot reasons 😂
That's just..not true. A fantastically misinformed take.
Ok, so there is actualy no reason. It's just "no idea what to do, let's make it in b&w."
Did you watch the video? it's clearly explained as such in the books hence why they did it lmao
@vercot7000, There's no explanation in the book; it's simply DV who says, "Oh, the Sun is not showing colors." It's astonishing. Actually, dogs don't see colors, and most animals don't perceive most colors. It has nothing to do with the Sun; it's simply laziness. But you have the right to enjoy it, and I have the right to say it doesn't deserve a 10/10 rating. Perhaps a 5/10 would be more appropriate. Personally, I'd rate it a 3/10 because there's no challenging creativity involved, just motocross-suited GI in the desert with boxy CGI.
Saw it today. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz ...
Because they saw the Thor movie Love and Thunder and decided to copy it😌
maybe but i would say Denis’ approach was way cooler
I just watched part 2 ,I liked part 1 better ,straying too far from the book left out some important characters, disappointing 👎
Seems racist
Uhm...it was in color in my theater.
An impossible situation. Black and white are not colours so it would be literally impossible for a planet to be devoid of colour. Also don't get me started on the "black sun" nonscence. I know it is a work of fiction but it doesn't need to break the laws of physics to do it. Breaks the immersion for me.
i think they could have taken a sun that emits only ultraviolet light, kinda like a black light lamp and have them have to use goggles when they do space travel to deal with the whole spectrum, which would explain why they are not visibly seen across the universe and manage to attack and dominate. I would have made their skin pitch black from the insane UV bombing they get and have them only be able to see themselves on that planet while humans can't. There's so much you can play with, including species made from different types of matter but hey this is all just like The Forever War, where it's just the vietnam war but with a scifi skin
you must be fun at parties

Im not sure there's much of a basis for how the Spice gives people abilities to see the future either... or to access their ancestral memories
@@Shiyaku93 it would make sense if the planet is some sort of alive, every sand particle is tied to each other and can communicate with each other, it would make sense to see the future with the caveat being that its only restricted to events on the planet. It then should be the same with ancestral memories since the sand memorizes the flow.
