    I like your bike. It's so non-nonsense, industrial and practical. Almost military with your OD color scheme. Your bottle mount modifications are equally practical and the manufacturer should have listened to your suggested inprovements to their design. Don't they care about improving their product?

    Like your style dude, vey tasteful bike 🚲. I personally ride the Specialized Creo e5 which has great battery range and assistance up to 45kmh. After having previously owned 3 ebikes, I always advise new owners to buy motor and battery first, then the bike, as the biggest complaint is range and speed cut off limits.

    • @neilk22
      @neilk22 2 года назад

      @@funksoulbrother3620 depends on market. EU pedal assist rules are a lot stricter than US. The same bike shipped to the EU has a different firmware for the region to adhere to 25kmh, where US restrictions are much looser and different by state (I think)

      @neilk22 2 года назад +1

      @@funksoulbrother3620 you should try give one a try to understand the dynamic. No one I know rides their bike in turbo mode all day (you can’t, the battery won’t allow you to in terms of range) - so in eco or sport modes you are still getting a workout, and helping the bike to 40kmh speeds which in terms of road biking is not that high. The benefit is that you aren’t sitting anerobic to achieve the speed, therefor getting around a set course in reasonable time, with a workout. I have a couple of bikes (6) and I see my creo as an augment to my gravel/road training. Others with health conditions could use this as a tool as well etc no doubt this technology is revolutionising riding for a whole new segment in the industry.

    Fantastic video. Thanks so much for making it. I learned a lot and appreciate your passion and expertise. I've got 2 questions, if you have time to respond. 1. What advantages and/or disadvantages do 650B wheels have as compared to 700cc? And, 2. I'm looking to get my first electric bicycle (I'm an old roadie, 60 years-old living on a very hilly Greek island :)) and I'm curious about your thoughts on a rear hub motor driven e-bike versus a bottom bracket/crank motor driven bike? I'm looking to get the Specialized Turbo Creo road/gravel e-bike which has a bottom bracket/crank motor. Thanks for any reply. Really enjoy your channel. Keep-up the good work!

    • @TwistedWheels
      @TwistedWheels  3 года назад +1

      Thanks!
      Answers to your questions:
      1. I only put 650B wheels because both my wife and I are using this bike and she is much shorter (163cm) than me (182cm), so I wanted to make the bike more comfortable for her (lower centre of gravity, easier to reach the ground with your leg).
      2. I believe the bb motors are more efficient when it comes to rolling resistance when you are not pedalling or pedalling without motor support. So if this is a road/gravel bike, I’d probably go for a bb motor. Since speeds in the city are usually below 30km/h, then whatever you choose, bb or hub motor, won’t make much difference

    I’m inspired to copy your upgrades, particularly the muddies, which look great as well as being practical.
    I wonder how puncture resistant your light weight tyres are?
    Here in Australia, like the UK, all eBikes are speed limited to 25kmh but interestingly, in New Zealand the same Orbea eBikes have a 35kmh limit…hmm, some hidden software I suspect. I’d love to know how to unlock that extra potential.

    Liked your three vibe videos, do you have any rear-carrier to advice ? I used a topeak one but it is like 900 grammes. It would be awesome if you could suggest some light 700 wheels and explain how do you move the motor from a wheel to another (you probably need special wheels to be able to fit the engine). Changing the frontwheel shoould be much cheaper. Also link toward the cranck would be nice.
    Did you consider using a cracnk with 2 gear, the problem with the vibe is that past 40-45km/h you don't have any gear left. I really liked the cranck and front gear on your another video but i don't get the model name, it s full carbon so i will probably go for second hand. I also don't know if the front crank is standard, can i just buy any crank or do they have different thickness or even diameter.

    • @TwistedWheels
      @TwistedWheels  2 года назад

      Hi, thanks!
      Two things here: 1) You would normally need a frame with the split rear seatstay to put the belt through, but I’ve seen this on Eurobike:
      www.veercycle.com/products/split-belt-pro?variant=39563266424910
      This theoretically allows to make a belt drive on any frame.
      2) The second question is the gears: with belt drive they need to be either in the rear hub - that wouldn’t work as there is a motor there on Vibe, or you need a gearbox at the bb area, like pinion - but for that you need a special frame, so it will also won’t work.
      So unless you are happy with a single-speed, the belt drive + gears won’t work. Unless there are belt drives with external gears - I haven’t done a research, so maybe there are… 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @janfives3510

      @@TwistedWheels I thought there"s a way to do it, sad to know it won't work because of the frame itself. Initial response: Got this bike for my friend. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ Delivery was fast. And the friend was surprised I would order it when she had never suggested she wanted anything but the pedal bike she had. She has now ridden the bike two times and gives it a 10 and says it is very fun. We have some hills in our town that are very challenging to climb on a typical bike. But tonight she went up with the pedal assist and loved it. I was way behind on my standard bike, huffing and puffing. Now she is no longer lagging behind me. This thing is powerful enough that a person could go around town without any pedaling. She likes to get some exercise so on flat ground she hits the red button to turn off pedal assist and only uses the twist throttle when she's in a tough spot. The bike looks good. It is really a very nice bike for the friend. Now for me, when I get an electric bike, I'm twice her size and will be looking for a bigger watt motor and battery. But this one is just wonderful for my friend. I am happy with this purchase.

    The Speed fun ghost system you installed.... I don't get it...in the US the bike will go 20MPH which seems higher than the Ghost system is giving you... Is the bike sold slower in Europe?

    • @TwistedWheels
      @TwistedWheels  2 года назад +2

      Speed fun gives an increase of 10-13% to what the restriction is. In EU and UK e-bikes are restricted to 25KMH, so it will give you roughly 28-29KMH speed. In the US it will be 22-24MPH.

    Options for getting a little more off road comfort? Any front suspension I can add while keeping its sleek looks?

    • @TwistedWheels
      @TwistedWheels  2 года назад

      I’d recommend installing Redshift Sports suspension stem, you might need to change the shape of the understem spacer though to allow for stem movement… I haven’t tried it on Orbea, but I’m using this stem on my gravel bike.
      Or go with 650B wheels with wider tyres (like I did) and reduce the pressure to 30-35 PSI (or even lower)

    i bought this bike because of these videos, but there is issue i wanted to ask about. sometimes when i drive fast (used a fixie,so strong legs:) its kinda jerky feeling in the back motor. Is it because i drive faster then 25km. Would the "tuning" mod maybe resolve this issue ?

    I have just bought an Orbea, to commute to work and back every day. But you're haste to reduce weight always grinds against common sense. If you want a lighter bike have a beer less or a snack less. As a truck driver I see - rather struggle to see in poor light conditions - cyclists who prefer to reduce weight by reducing lights and visibility. You may well say its the responsibility of the car or lorry driver to see you, you may well think you will be suitably compensated if you are knocked off a bike. But having spent time recovering from injuries in a hospital, then you quickly realise just how stupid a few less grams actually saves a whole load of pain. You also realise that compensation will never really cover the cost of pain you go through. Finally, that few grams less will have no impact on that coffin you may well end up in..
