  • Enscape Soft Directional Lighting
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    In this video we are going to talk about how to create soft directional lighting when using SketchUp and Enscape. This technique helps you have control over the angle of lighting while keeping the softness of the shadows. Using these few steps you'll achieve an incredibly realistic result.

    I was just looking for a way to make the enscape lights more diffuse; I also applied it for indirect lights on ceilings and other things without seeing the harsh shadows resulting from artificial lights. This technique is very useful and I thank you very much.

    As usual, a good video with some tips that can be useful. Sometimes we need to fake things to make them real, it's a weird advice but that's how it works. I see a lot of people trying to replicate as close as possible reality, thinking it will make the render more "believable". In your example, to adjust the shadow in the foreground, they will just "crank up" the HDRI to not "cheat" with a wall with emissive shader "because they will say, it's not working like that in reality". You prove it, with your example, that's the best method :)
    I hope in the next update, Enscape will add an option or settings to be able to use some Gobo light. It will be perfect for a scene like this, to have some leaves's shadows cast on the wall.
    Actually i have to use other render software (C4D with redshift) because i'm not sastified with my try in Enscape (it's either to flat or not real enough). Do you have any advice or tips for this kind to achieve this ?

    • @Modulusrender
      @Modulusrender  Год назад +1

      Thank you. I see it more like a movie set where everything goes to trick the eye into believing it's real. Do you mean advice on hoe to get a gobo like effect in Enscape?

    • @flow_leit
      @flow_leit Год назад +1

      @@Modulusrender i think your "analogy" (not sure of the word in english) with movie / cinema is the perfect way to explain your example. You're right !
      About using a "gobo light" in enscape, actually i'm not satisfy nor very conclusive for my taste. That's why i have to use other render engine. But yes, if you have any tips or advice to make a really believable light in Enscape by using a gobo method, i'm curious !
      I've bought the pack "Light Gobos" from Greyscale Gorilla. The render are gorgeous but as i said, it can't be used in Enscape sadly. At least currently.

    Hey Vlad! Great video! Can you explain why you made a 32-bit white background @ 6000 pixels and not something regular? Does it make a difference?

    • @Modulusrender
      @Modulusrender  Год назад +1

      I made an HDRI image. It's white because I wanted white light. It's 32 bit because it has light information in it and it casts more light. The aspect ratio of a HDRI sky dome is 2:1 so I made the image 6000x3000 so that it covers the whole sky.
